The latest Madden blog is more interesting. They are giving much more customization including things such as how low the accelerated clock ticks down (25, 20, or 15 seconds.) Other things that will be adjustable by the players are player speeds, game speed, and a bunch of other things.

Good to see them bring up an area of the game to where it was 10 years ago.

You know what NCAA is an automatic purchase for me, I am addicted to college football. I haven't brought Madden in years although I am tempted to buy this years version because I will have a lot of free time since I won't be taking classes in the fall. I probably use the wait and see approach with regard to Madden.

I haven't purchased Madden in probably 3 or 4 years but this year looks like a shoe in since they are finally making some updates to franchise. I need an NFL fix this year.

This probably explains why the NCAA Wii version was dropped (in addition to the lousy sales). All resources likely headed to redo the graphics on Madden for the Wii........

They said if you don't move the controller after the hike, then the CPU will take over control of the QB. That's how I remember it working in the past.

Any PC NFL management sims coming out this fall that I just haven't heard about? If not, and with no Head Coach, Madden's flaws will be more obnoxious than normal.

Cool about the Franchise improvements...I'm still hoping they'll announce an Online Franchise in which you can import NCAA Draft classes. If not...this will probably be another year where I pick up Madden, play it for a month, and then shelf it for NCAA (several years running now).

Regarding the latest NCAA features (player lock and player assist), I feel like the player lock is a cool feature, and I may use it in my offline dynasty, but not my online ones. The player assist feature I feel is great for rookies, but this definitely needs to be turned off for our online Dynasties here @ FOFC.

First video of NCAA 10's Franchise mode is up. I'm not sure I like the actual interest change of each recruit pitch being shown, but I love the idea of negative recruiting against other human players. I also like that some 5 star and 4 star players won't sign until late in the process no matter what you do. The video is on their main page:

NCAA Football 10 : Football Video Games : EA SPORTS

Edit to add: Glad they are addressing some of the stat issues in the sim engine.

I don't see PC listed for either NCAA Football or Madden. I thought they were coming back this year, at least Madden...oh well.

I'm gonna go pout that they didn't get NCAA ready for the Wii this year also. I won't touch that stinky 09 version and was really waiting for something a little better this season. Maybe in '11....gah.....

I'll admit it. I am setting myself up for a fall, as I am getting excited about Madden 2010. They just seem to be finally addressing many of the problems the NG series has had.

I'm digging the new features to OD. Hopefully they will allow more than 12 players per OD now. I'm already looking forward to downplaying all of DeToxRox's pitches.

What I am most disappointed about is that there was no mention of rolling over 2009 online dynasties into 2010. It makes me think this feature will not be in the game since they did not mention it.

It has already been confirmed on OS that it will not be possible to import 09 dynasties into 2010.

I asked a question in that thread about how long 09 dynasties will be supported on the servers and it was ignored which makes me think the news isn't good.

Agreed. I don't know that EA has ever supported importing past franchises/dynasties at any level (non-PC), so I don't see why they would start doing it now.

Yeah, but one would hope that they realize that ODs have more of an emotional and time investment than single player dynasties. Kinda sucks that I will have to start from 3 stars again if I choose Indiana.

EA has announced the first of their "bigger" features in a blog on Friday:

Supposedly "Adaptive AI" will have various adjustments that the AI will make. For example, if you are running outside with your QB, the AI will finally increase the number of QB spy plays it calls, as well as hot routing the DE's to the flat. If you are running a lot of sneaks, or interior runs, it will pinch the line in.

Also, if you run the same plays over, the AI will get a boost against them, or if you run the same routes over, the defender will play the route better. This feature is supposed to be in Madden and NCAA:

I've decided I really like NCAA 09, and while it's not perfect, I can handle a mild upgrade in 2010. What gets me is Madden 09. I'm usually forcing myself to play my NCAA dynasty to get my draft classes because I'm so into Madden. Not this time. I'm year 4 into my current NCAA dynasty, only into game 2 of season 1 in my Madden dynasty. Madden just doesn't play as fluid.

I'll get them both for 2010 IF Madden comes through on improvements. The running needs an overhaul so bad.

NCAA Football 10 Features List Confirms CAS
April 19, 2009 by pastapadre Comments (3)

Over at ncaaStrategies they’ve come across the placeholder box for NCAA Football 10 that is being put on display by Gamestop. The box lists out a few of the features of the game. While some of them have already been discussed there are a couple that as of yet had not. You can check out the details and view a picture of the box over at ncaaStrategies by clicking here.

The one that will likely get the most attention is the return of Create-A-School. Its inclusion has been speculated upon however had not been confirmed until now. Also mentioned are risk-reward game planning and innovative new defensive controls.

The descriptions remain a little vague as they were obviously drawn up prior to posting any of their blogs. We already know that Erin Andrews is the new addition to the broadcasting team for example. So what this means is Teambuilder mode may still be what incorporates the create-a-school aspect. Considering it is described as “revolutionary” it appears there will be a lot more to learn about the mode than just that. After getting through the cover announcements tomorrow additional info on the game is expected to come out of the NCAA event I’ll be attending in NY this Thursday.

Gametrailers has the first in game footage up. Looks like 5 man gang tackles are in the game, as well as fumble pileups, and improved WR-DB interaction. Those were the things that stood out to me. The Madden portion for the Xbox 360/PS3 is about 12:30 into the video. There is some Wii footage earlier in the video:

EA announced that Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu will be their first duo ever on the cover. I don't usually believe in fate or luck, but the horrible career breaks of previous cover athletes is an impressive list.

Also a few interesting points from the press release today:

Utilizing the all-new Pro-Tak animation technology, Madden NFL 10 on the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, ensures that the Fight for Every Yard doesn't end until the whistle blows. This new game changing animation technology delivers steerable tackles, three to nine man gang tackles, as well as the ability to fight for fumbles at the bottom of a pile. In addition, Pro-Tak allows quarterbacks to avoid the oncoming rush to extend a play, or step into the pocket to deliver an in-stride pass. With Pro-Tak, the authenticity of NFL game days is brought home like never before in Madden NFL 10.

Do they play before the playoffs? I sense a MASSIVE collision on a throw across the middle coming...

Your link goes to Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 has the first game footage (which is about 58% of the way through the episode). Most of what I saw was meh at best. The thing that stood out to me was that the ref was on the field to signal a first down.

Other than that, I don't see much that's an upgrade.

Gang tackling looks nice but should have been in the game 10 years ago. Tough to get excited about features that would have been cool in 2003.

I guess I've lowered my standard to be a playable game that looks next gen and has some improvements over last gen. On that score, they are batting .000 this gen.

On OS it has been confirmed that the a "network inspired highlights show" will be available each week.

Also, they have added back the injury cart that I enjoyed in my youth and they have added players warming up on the sideline and more realistic sidelines in general.
