I care because I hate losing history for the sake of people being idiots. There's nothing more frustrating that searching for a post that you KNOW is out there somewhere, but it's been deleted at some point for no real reason.

Dola-

And before people get up in arms saying that I'm doing this because I care about my own post count so much...I think I had maybe ten or fifteen posts in the three big threads Lathum deleted. So it isn't about me...

OK, I figured the threads I deleted would be bought back...

The first time some knocked me down it was funny, the second time unoriginal and the third I felt compelled to act.

Being a WW player I dont really care about post counts ( I would be about 5K higher) but I founf the third knock down just unfunny, especialy since no one stepped up about any of them.

And before anyone gives me the "what do you expect" crap there have been many threads similar to this that died a quiet death.

Sorry for the chaos.

Why do we even have the power to delete threads? That should be a mod-only thing, and threads should only be deleted for technical reasons (double posts, etc).

An Admin can un delete a thread. I deleted the 2008 MLB thread causing over 1800 posts to be lost, and an admin brought it back.

Saldana's point is how come the htreads that were deleted causing me to lose posts weren't also brought back.

It is somewhat hypocritical.

I think it's because Jeebs knew to look for your threads. Without any clues as to who deleted their threads, we'd need the FOFC CSI team.

This isn't my fault for one second so don't even go there.

I fully expected someone to delete a thread when I made my original post, it's almost tradition.

But the second time was un original and the third was just total asshattery.

I was prevoked to action and I took it, and I would do it again if faced with the same choice.

Nah, this is what happened:

1) Lathum announced his 10,000th post
2) Someone thought it was funny to delete a thread he had posted in to knock him back under 10,000.
3) Lathum laughed and played along
4) Someone else thought it was just as original to do it again
5) The whole thing blew out of proportion..
6) By the third time this happened and Lathum was down by about 50-60 posts he deleted his own thread that he had threatened to do when playing along earlier.
7) People give Lathum crap for doing what others had done without anyone getting all over their case.
8) Confusion ensues..

Pretty much. I searched the threads-started history of just about everyone who posted on the first page of this thread, but I couldn't find the others that were deleted...

I meant the first one to be a joke.

Trust me, my intention wasn't for all this nonsense so don't blame me.

I don't much care about post count, I think they do serve a purpose for SD when evaluating members actions and I would be lying if I said a persons post count doesn't effect the way I look at them and some of the things they say.

I think Alan put it perfectly but like I have said many time, funny the first time, not so much the next 2.
