As a whole, the two episodes ended up being pretty good. They hadn't had Randy Marsh be a big character in a while, and he was probably the most hilarious part, with his Cloverfield takeoff. And the guinea pigs were completely absurd, but in a funny way.

If I'd seen Cloverfield is it possible that I would have considered these two episodes something other than a complete waste of time? This show has *really* become hit or miss big time. I keep watching because i don't want to miss the next Imaginationland, but the last 3-4 seasons I think I've only enjoyed about 20% of the episodes.

This two-parter was almost as bad as the 'Oprah's vagina' episode.

Yep, I thought this was pretty craptastic. Then again, I thought Imaginationland was stupid, too.

The only one I've enjoyed from season 12 so far was the breast cancer episode 2 weeks ago. Over the last 2 seasons (11 and what's been in 12 so far), I can only think of 1 or 2 episodes I thought were really good. The rest were "meh" or complete suck to me. I guess I'm getting old.

I think that, increasingly, you have to get their references/parodies, AND enjoy the way they're doing the parody, to get much out of the episodes. The 24 takeoff(the snuke) a couple seasons ago was a great example for me. I love 24, but make fun of it for some of the insane ways they go about things, that South Park was a perfect parody.

A few others that some of you have enjoyed specifically b/c they were parodies, I didn't get b/c I didn't know the reference.

The Cloverfield parody... I dunno, doesn't seem like that one resonated with many, but I haven't seen the movie. Hell, I thought Randy with the video camera was a (severely) belated Blair Witch parody until I saw Cloverfield mentioned here

FTR, I loved the last two episodes. Maybe it's because I saw (and really liked) Cloverfield.

He's really getting a bigger role lately. I love his character.

Its amazing how quick they can put together an episode. If they wanted, they could make a daily news cartoon.

That was a pretty awesome episode. Lots of little things I missed on first viewing that I didn't pick up until I saw it again. Good stuff!

From the Comedy Central Press Release:
SOUTH PARK PRESENTS “ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MUSICAL” ON THIS WEEK’S ALL-NEW EPISODE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12 AT 10:00 P.M.* ON COMEDY CENTRAL

NEW YORK, November 10, 2008 – The boys realize they are no longer the coolest kids in school in an all-new episode of “South Park” titled, “Elementary School Musical” premiering on Wednesday, November 12 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Stan realizes he could lose Wendy if he doesn’t get on board with the latest fad to hit South Park Elementary. Cartman would rather kill himself than succumb. But, when Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman all realize that Butters is now more popular than they are, they have no choice but to give in to peer pressure.

The "Obama Wins" episode pretty much stunk. Stan's dad was funny but the heist plot was pathetic. I guess it was a parody of "Ocean's X" or some other jewel robbery movie I didn't see.

This episode seals it. In "real acting" AND in cartoons, this High School Musical crap is shiat. A real travesty.

Last week's was pretty funny. The kid's dad slapping everyone was awesome.

Here's the blurb about tonight's episode:

I would love for them to take a year off to make a movie (most of which I've loved) and come back later refreshed with better ideas. I found this season, and many episodes last season, to be subpar.

On Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 10 pm EST South Park goes HD. We are really excited because, not only will the season premiere be in HD, but we have been working hard for over a year re-rendering previous seasons in native HD. We are not up-converting the episodes, but actually going into each episode and re-rendering every shot and frame at true HD. Check back soon for more info on the Comedy Central and South Park HD news, and the season 13 premiere.

And don't forget to check out the brand new South Park: The Complete Uncensored Twelfth Season Blu-ray and the South Park: The Complete Uncensored Twelfth Season DVD, available for pre-order at the Comedy Central store. Each version features behind the scenes footage shown right here on SouthParkStudios.com, including:

• Featurette: Six Days to South Park – A Day-by-Day Making of South Park (Super Fun Time)
• Featurette: Six Days to South Park -- The Sixth Day (About Last Night)
• Featurette: The Making of ''Major Boobage''
• And mini-commentaries by Matt and Trey for each episode (not available at sps.com)

For those paying attention, "Six Days to South Park - About Last Night" hasn't even premiered on the site. But isn't there an inauguration happening soon?

Damn I didn't know Comedy Central had an HD channel. I guess my cable company hasn't added it yet.
