Finally, USC has a long TD thanks to the tight end Fred Davis who has been their most effective receiver tonight. 16-7 now. Certainly not the blowout I was hoping for and expecting.

Elsewhere around the country today, Georgia Southern blew a 31-7 halftime lead, but kicked a FG at the gun to nip South Dakota State 41-38. Appalachian State rolled over Gardner-Webb 45-7, and UTC just failed on a 2-pt conversion try late in the 3rd quarter & trails Arkansas 24-15 (and the Razorbacks are already inside the Mocs 40).

Also, Middle Tennessee & Virginia are tied at 14 late in the 3rd quarter

Stanford with a TD to make it 16-14 very early in the 4th.

Late (and fairly dirty) hit on Tebow by LSU, maybe signs that the Tigers aren't handling playing from behind very well. UF driving with a 10-7 lead late in the first half.

Booty with a 47 yard TD to Ronald Johnson! That is Johnson's first TD as a Trojan. 23-14.

So, if Florida and Stanford both win, who's #1? Boston College?

Tebow had one, maybe two feet inbounds when Highsmith initiated contact with his shoulders to Tebow's thigh.

Was Highsmith suppose to escort Tebow out of bounds when he saw intent for Tebow to go out of bounds? I don't see how hitting a guys legs while the player is inbounds is a penalty, or particularly dirty. Especially when its a player that initiates contact all day.

A serious answer would be (I guess) Ohio State, as they're currently cruising against previously unbeaten Purdue.

Considering Cal is #3 in both polls, I would think they would become #1. However, despite the terrible showing from USC, I think there is almost no chance they lose this game. Except for one drive, Stanford's offense has done nothing against USC's defense. If LSU wins, I think they should be #1 in both polls.

Oh puh-leeze. That was (as the CBS crew uncharacteristically pointed out correctly) a fine in the NFL, and that dirty piece of crap was lucky not to be ejected for intent to injure. He was going for the knee of a guy that's currently making LSU look almost silly.

And it isn't exactly a surprise to see that sort of thing from them, nor does it surprise me that someone would try to defend it.

My thought was that Cal being idle this weekend would cost them the ascension in favor of the active (and so far solid) tOSU.

HE WAS IN BOUNDS! Even the announcers admitted that, and basically admitted after they saw the replay that it was legal but the refs weren't picking up that flag.

Your bias against LSU is showing again. It was a legal hit.

Personally, I think all hits on Tebow should be legal, whether he's in bounds, out of bounds, in uniform, in bed, etc. Its really only fair to the other team, cause he's soooooo good.

Gosh I hope so. I can think of no team nor fanbase in many a year that I hold in lower regard that the no class kitty cats from the armpit of the country. The only thing better than them losing by 100 points would be seeing them lose by 101.

Horrible execution for LSU in the first half, lucky to still be in this game as bad as they've played. Will really see what this team is made of in the second half. If they can't play better at home in the second half, this isn't a NC caliber team.

I have to think if he has another half like the one he just had that the Heisman might end up being his to lose after all.

I hope you go to a LSU game as a visitor one day. And I mean that in the best of ways. Some LSU fans can be rude and brash, mostly thanks to the alchy thats part of the culture, but I've been to a lot of college football venues, and no place have I seen opposing fans offered more hospitality before a game either. You'd be seriously surprised. But then again, you probably won't get that chance, and you surely won't take my word on it as you seem happy with your hatred. C'est la vie.

Yeah, the more I watch of Tebow, the more I think he'll win it. Even if they lose again, his stats are going to be more impressive than a lot of the other contenders.

Yea, and he brings a certain flash that no other player at that position brings, which can help his case. Well flash isn't the right word, because what he brings that no other QB does is that he can hit like a truck while running downfield.

Sheesh. Booty just threw another pick and Stanford has a chance to win it with 3 minutes to go

Edit: Watching the replay, yes he was under a bit of pressure, but he horribly overthrew his guy.

Very lucky break for USC - that was a clean catch inside the five, but he did clearly step out of bounds before that (although barely)

This would be all moot if Taylor Mays caught the long pass that the Stanford QB threw at the beginning of this drive.. it was a clearly interceptable ball, but Mays failed to make the play.

Watching a close game like this, where I really don't care who wins but I can appreciate the game itself, is much better than having one of my teams involved.
