JeeberD will have some fun.

Recruiting has been really tough this season. No takers so far, and people are already turning us down. We need to start winning games. Losing to Jeff City was disappointing. It was our first conference loss ever.

Something's good about today, I can feel it. Perhaps it's that North Texas is 0-4.

89 degrees and fair weather at North Texas today.

North Texas won the toss and received the kickoff, which was a touchback. The defense bends but doesn't break. The NT punter gives us horrible field position. His punt is downed on our 3 yard line.

Go go gadget offense.

Things look promising on 1st down. A dive up the middle by the fullback breaks wide open for a 31 yard gain. Nfg22 and indoor contribute to the drive with 2 KRBs each. Indoor was particularly effective on the 3 yard TD run. 7-0.

Unfortunately, the kick return was returned for a touchdown. I need to hire a Beamer to run our special teams. I'm not kidding you. 7-7.

We drive downfield again, thanks to nfg22 and indoor. Both have a KRB for the drive. We close out the first quarter with a 3rd and 12 on the NT 20 yard line.

St. Louis 7, North Texas 7.

We shock the defense with a rare 3rd down pass. How often can you say that? Our TE rumbles in for the score. 14-7.

North Texas begins to drive downfield, but is stalled on our 36 yard line, 4th and 4. The NT head coach rolls the dice, and goes for it. We send the nickel back in and go with a 3 deep zone. Screen to the fullback, and Ragone is coming up to stop it hard. He nails the fullback for a 4 yard loss!! Way to show up, Ragone! Our ball on the 40.

We take the ball down to the NT 23, where we attempt a 40 yard FG. Our kicker misses short of the crossbar. You have got to be kidding me. He hit a 56 yarder last week. I need a new special teams coach, dang it.

Ragone shows again, this time on an assist. North Texas looks to score before the half, but a safety makes an interception and return to the STL 28. 1:25 left in the half.

I send General Mike in to the game, and he carries the ball for 3 yards on a sweep around right end. We don't get anything going, though, and we end up running out the clock.

Halftime:

STL 14, NT 7.

13 first downs, 151 rushing yards, 47 passing yards for us this half.

We take the 2nd half kickoff, and it looks promising until a personal foul call on us sends us back 15 yards. We end up punting, and North Texas takes over at their own 13.

Run Ragone, run!

NTEX 5 Nichols pass completed to 86 Page for 43 yards.
Tackled by STLS 36 Ragone.
The receiver ran his route right over the middle of the field.
The receiver gained 25 yards after the catch.

Ragone would come up and stop the next play, a run, for no gain. North Texas would score, however, on the next play. 14-14.

JeeberD goes in for the next drive, and contributes a KRB. I send General Mike in again for a sweep, this time to the left. He breaks it open and scores from 29 yards out! TD, GENERAL MIKE! 21-14.

Ragone would make his presence known again on a tackle, and North Texas would eventually punt the ball through the endzone for a touchback.

We take the ball and begin another drive, thanks to a KRB by indoor. The 3rd quarter ends with the ball in our possession. 3rd and 5 on our 41.

STL 21, NT 14.

We're stuffed on 3rd down, and forced to punt. North Texas gets a nice return, go figure, off of our special teams. Their ball on their own 48.

They drive downfield with 8 plays for 41 yards, settling for a FG. 21-17.

We try and surprise the NT defense with a bomb on 2nd down, but they weren't shocked at all. The linebacker covering our TE makes the interception and returns it to the NT 34 yard line.

North Texas is driving. Ragone chips in with an assist, but is it too late? No! It aids in stopping the drive, and North Texas settles for another FG. 21-20, and we maintain the lead. 4:28 left in the game.

We start to drive downfield, hoping to kill a ton of clock in the process. Nfg22 contributes a KRB, and North Texas is starting to call timeouts. Unfortunately:

NTEX 44 Gramentine ran right past STLS 69 nfg22 to break up the play.

This sets up a 3rd and 6 on the NT 41 yard line. On the next play our back fumbles and it's recovered by a North Texas defender at the North Texas 48 yard line.

DANG IT! 2:03 left.

A 20 yard pass is completed, and then Ragone stuffs an off tackle run for no gain. He assists on another off tackle run on third down, and it looks to come down to a 41 yard FG attempt. 48 seconds on the clock.

NTEX 16 Horn attempted a 41 yard field goal and missed short of the crossbar.

Indoor contributes with 2 KRB as we run out the clock! WE WIN!!

Recruiting has been going to hell in a handbasket. I'm scrambling to get bodies in to our University.

We (2-3, 0-1) play at Kansas City (1-3, 1-0) this week. We need another W.

65 degrees and fair weather in Kansas City today.

We win the toss and elect to receive. Unfortunately, this drive is ended rather quickly with an interception that gives KC the ball on our own 15. One play later, KC throws a touchdown pass, and they are up, 7-0.

Indoor contributes a KRB on the next drive, and General Mike gains 2 yards on our "toss" play off tackle. However, our drive stalls, and our kicker misses a 41 yard FG; wide right.

Ragone contributes on the defense with a tackle. I can neither confirm nor deny at this point that he caused the fumble. However, KC recovers the ball. Fortunately, the KC kicker misses wide left on a FG attempt. At least we're not the only ones struggling with special teams.

General Mike starts the next drive off with a yard off tackle. We end up punting after a 3 and out. KC takes over on the 50. Ragone provides an assist and a solo tackle on the drive, but the first quarter ends with KC on our 30 yard line. 1st and 10.

STL 0, KC 7.

Shortly thereafter, KC would toss another TD pass. 14-0.

Nfg22 contributes a KRB, but we're forced to punt:

STLS 7 Fisher punted 45 yards from the KCTY46.
KCTY 5 Schlesinger returned the ball 3 yards to the KCTY04.
Tackled by STLS 7 Fisher.
Extra point by STLS 16 Keaton was good.

Somehow, we score. I won't argue.

Ragone lays the smack down again, and causes another fumble, but KC once again recovers. A few plays later, KC would again fumble, this time recovered by our defense.

We take over with very good field position from the KC 30, and we drive down to the 5. We're stalled there, and forced into a 4th and goal. Screw it, our kicker sucks. Let's go. We fake the toss, and our QB rolls out and finds an open TE. TD! WOO! 14-14.

The defense plays lights out on the next drive, and KC is clearly just running the clock out. We get the ball back after a punt return. 1st and 10 on our 37, with 32 seconds left on the clock.

We try a few of passes, but nothing works. We punt the ball back, and KC sets up for a hail mary. Instead, they dump it off to the back, and he's dropped for a yard loss. The ball comes lose, and a reserve corner scoops up the ball, but is dropped a few yards later.

Halftime.

STL 14, KC 14. We are so extremely lucky.

KC takes the 2nd half kickoff, but goes 3 and out. We take over on our 49 yard line. We throw on first down, and it's complete. Too bad the TE fumbled. KC's ball on their 35.

3 and out again by our defense. Wow. We take over at our 47 this time. We drive downfield methodically and score on another TD pass. 21-14, good guys.

Ragone chips in with 2 assists on the next drive, and KC is forced to punt. The punt is deep and goes through our endzone. We get it on the 20.

JeeberD once again provides help with a KRB, but it's indoor that helps spring the back with his KRB for a 43 yard run to the 8 yard line of KC. General Mike goes in and plunges up the middle for one. The next play we score on a reverse! 28-14, as the 3rd quarter ends!

STL 28, KC 14.

Kansas City opens up the 4th with a new QB. We injured the starter on their last offensive drive. He's sacked to start, and throws an INT on the 2nd play. The safety returned the ball to the KC 47 yard line.

Indoor provides two KRBs in a row, and we get to the 2 thanks to him. Our back scores off tackle, and it's 35-14!

Here's where games get really fun, or really ugly. I'm anxious to see how our defense responds. KC goes deep, and it falls incomplete. They come back with a similar play, and Ragone makes the INT! He returns the ball 38 yards looking to score, but can't evade the KC tight end. Our ball on the KC 36 yard line.

We don't do much with the ball, unfortunately, and once again our kicker misses wide right.

KC goes 3 and out, and we take over on our 43 yard line.

Nfg22 contributes 2 KRBs this time, and General Mike has 3 carries for 17 yards. That puts him at 6 for 21 on the day, I believe. We score on another reverse, 42-14.

KC gets sloppy, and eventually gives us the ball on our own 39 with 36 seconds left. The backup QB goes in and takes a knee. The game's over!

STL 42, KC 14.

25 first downs, 299 yards rushing, 101 yards passing for us.

What I didn't see:

4-09-KCTY46 (07:16) STLS 7 Fisher punted 45 yards from the KCTY46.
KCTY 5 Schlesinger returned the ball 3 yards to the KCTY04. Tackled by STLS 7 Fisher.
Ball was fumbled and recovered by STLS 59 indoorsoccersim for 4 yards and a touchdown!
Extra point by STLS 16 Keaton was good.

How bad are the injuries for the St. Louis University Cardinals?

We have 7 linebackers injured. Of those, five are scholarship players, including both of our scholarship outside linebackers.

It's so bad we now have a walk on fresh man inside linebacker with the #89.

That was assigned by the CPU. Unreal.

Recruits are pouring in for visits now, which makes me feel a whole lot better.

We're currently 4th in the conference standings, behind Joplin, St. Joseph, and Jeff City.

Independence comes to St. Louis this week. The good news? They are 0-5.

55 degrees and rain here in St. Louis today.

Indy wins the toss and elects to receive. Holding on the return sends them to their 9 yard line. They would eventually punt the ball to us, and we take over on our own 38 yard line.

Indoor starts the game off solidly, with 2 KRBs in a row. Unfortunately, someone on the offense drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and we have to punt. Our punter drops them down on their own 3.

Ragone contributes to the defense with a tackle, but Indy moves down to our 31 regardless. We stop them there, and they go for it on 4th and 8. We hold, and take over from there.

Indoor takes over where he left off. He leads the way with another 2 KRBs, including one on the 9 yard dive that scored the TD. 7-0.

We end the 1st quarter with the kickoff.

Independence 0, St. Louis 7.

Indy can do nothing with the ball and a horrible punt on their part gives us the ball on their 43 yard line.

We would move the ball well, but shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties. I counted five on the drive and our blasted kicker misses the 43 yarder wide left.

Indy would take advantage of the fact and move down to our 30. Thankfully, they fumble the ball and one of our rare healthy linebackers pounce on the ball.

General Mike gets in and takes a sweep to the left for 2, then follows it up with 8 up the middle. Fortunately, the 3 penalties afterward don't keep us from getting a field goal this time. Even our kicker can hit a 32 yard FG. 10-0, good guys.

35 seconds left in the half.

Indy would try to throw, but ended the half with a run. Let's head to the locker room, fellas.

Indy 0, STL 10.

We had 12 first downs, 139 yards rushing, and 90 yards passing for the half.

We get the 2nd half kickoff. It's returned to our 26.

Indoor adds four more KRBs to his total. Later, General Mike would add another yard to his total. We would end up throwing the ball into the endzone. 17-0.

Indy goes 3 and out, and we take the punt return to their 40 yard line.

We drive downfield, but a sack was allowed (darn, I missed who allowed it. I'll get it after the game). Our kicker hits the 36 yard FG. 20-0.

Indy is likely to start throwing a lot more now. Get on your horse, Ragone.

Well, it wasn't evident there, but Ragone did assist on a QB draw on 3rd down. Indy is forced to punt. We end up with the ball on our 40.

The 3rd quarter ends with the ball in our possession, 3rd and 8 on our 42.

Indy 0, STL 20.

We do nothing with the ball to start the 4th, and we end up punting down to the Indy 34.

Great defensive pressure forces another punt. We take over on our 19. We move the ball to our 48 (thanks to indoor with another KRB), but have to punt from there. The ball is downed at the Indy 16.

Ragone tips a ball away, and then intercepts the next pass at the Indy 47. His return takes him to the Indy 31, where he's hauled down by a lineman.

Two plays later, we score on the ground. 27-0!

Ragone would bat another ball away on this drive, and the defense forces another punt. A horrible punt and great return give us the ball on the Indy 21!

We don't do much, however, and the kicker nails another 32 yarder. 30-0.

Indy can't get much going on offense, and is forced to punt again. We take over on our 30 this time.

The game is nearly over, and General Mike ends it with a dive up the middle for a yard.

Final:

Independence 0, St. Louis 30.

Joplin (3-3, 2-1) comes to St. Louis (4-3, 2-1) this weekend. It should be an interesting match up. We need a victory to keep pace with Jeff City (2-0 in conference) and St. Joseph (3-0 conference).

52 degrees and fair weather for the game today. Joplin wins the toss and elects to receive.

The defense bends but doesn't break, setting up a punt return. Thank god, something out of this unit. The safety back there returns the ball 86 yards for the score! 7-0, good guys.

That safety wasn't done. After Joplin takes the kickoff, he intercepts a pass and returns the ball to the Joplin 11. WOO!! Indoor leads the way with a KRB into the endzone, TD!! 14-0.

This time Ragone chips in with a tackle, but Joplin would score. Thanks for the most part to a 42 yard bomb. 14-7.

We take over on the 37 after the kick return. Indoor and nfg22 pave the way with a KRB each and we score again, despite 3 penalties. 21-7.

Joplin controls the ball as the 1st quarter expires. 2nd and 8 on our 29.

Joplin 7, St. Louis 21.

3 penalties force Jopline into a 4th and forever on our 40, and they choose to run a trap play rather than, oh, I don't know, a PUNT. We sent Ragone on a blitz, and he stopped the back for a yard loss.

Our ball on our 41. Nfg22 flexes his muscles and provides 2 KRBs and we score again! 28-7.

Joplin doesn't do much with the ball, and we take over on our own 21.

It's the JeeberD show, brought to you by FOFC. He lines up at left tackle on the first play, and provides a KRB that sends us to the STL 46 yard line. 2 plays later, at right tackle, he has another KRB that sends our back into the endzone, from 50 yards out! 35-7!

Ragone would tip a pass away on the next drive, which was nothing more than a 3 and out. We take over on the Joplin 45.

Our offense doesn't get it done this time, and we punt the ball down to the Joplin 11. Joplin, in turn, punts it back, but we're sent back to our 48 yard line.

General Mike gets the call on 3rd and 5, but is stopped a yard short of the first down. We punt the ball down to the Joplin 23, where indoor makes the tackle. 53 seconds on the clock.

Joplin goes deep, and completes the first one, but ends up trying a 57 yarder. It falls short, and we head to the locker rooms for the half.

Joplin 7, St. Louis 35.

11 first downs, 222 yards rushing, 15 yards passing for us.

We take the 2nd half kickoff, but we don't do much with the ball. We end up punting down to the Joplin 27. Ragone would provide a tipped pass on 3rd down, forcing a Joplin punt. Our returner gives us the ball on our 47 yard line.

We run the ball a couple of times, and then go deep. Touchdown! A 40 yard pass! 42-7.

Joplin sends the 2nd string out, and I contemplate doing the same. Joplin punts it away to us, and we take over on our 47. General Mike provides a yard, and then 7 on 3rd down, but it's not enough. We punt the ball back, downed at the Joplin 10.

Joplin moves the ball some, but shoot themselves in the foot with penalties. Ragone once again knocks away a 3rd down pass, forcing a punt. We take over on our 49.

We can't do much again, and we punt once again down to the Joplin 10. The 3rd quarter ends on the next play, a 12 yard counter.

Joplin's ball on the Joplin 22. 1st and 10.

Joplin 7, St. Louis 42.

Joplin can't move the ball further than that, and the punt puts us on our 47 yard line. We send the backups in now. It's apparent, we have to punt again. This time it rolls out of bounds at the 14.

Joplin moves the ball against our 2nd team, but eventually is forced to punt. This time, however, we take over on our 19.

Our punter is a vicious hitter. Earlier in the season, he punted the ball, made the tackle and stripped the ball. He did it again. However, Joplin recovers the ball this time. Their ball on our 38.

Joplin moves downfield to the 15, where they would try a 32 yard FG. Our 5th corner blocks it, and we take over on our 22.

General Mike contributes 3 yards to the cause, but it's not enough. We're forced to punt again. This time, it travels to the Joplin 34. 4:21 left in the game.

The true freshman walkon #89 ILB makes a tackle on 3rd and 10, forcing a punt. It goes through our endzone. Touchback.

General Mike gains 4 on first down, 3 on 2nd down, and that would be the ball game.

Final

Joplin 7, St. Louis 42.

Fortunately, we have a week, off. We don't really need it on the injury front, our guys are really screwed up or healthy. However, we can sit back and watch St. Joseph and Jeff City duke it out on TV5.

Jeff City wins it, and we move up to 2nd place in conference. We really need someone to beat them. We were rooting for St. Joseph.

No waiting for recruits. You come in, I label you.

Currently, we have 3 recruits waiting for FOFCers. That gives us 7 recruits for the season. We have just 5 others visiting, so I have to hit the recruiting trail.

Well, technically, we're (5-3, 3-1) tied with St. Joseph (4-4, 3-1)for the 2nd slot, but we play them this week out there.

Zut, I'm reminded I could have been announcing players of the week and such. Sorry, guys, I'll start doing that.

Right. My part of the field is about to be declared a no-fly (pattern) Zone. Thanks for the scholarship, Coach!

The game today will be on TV5. Hopefully, we'll have a good showing.

48 degrees and fair. Sounds like good double wing weather to me. We win the toss and take the kickoff. Indoor (2 KRBs) and nfg22 (1 KRB) lead the team downfield, and we punch it in. We took nearly half the 1st quarter on the drive. 7-0.

Ragone comes up to stuff a run off tackle, and a few plays later a LB intercepts the ball. We take over on the St. Joe 34.

General Mike makes an early entrance, and gets 4 on 3rd and 4 for the first down. Indoor paves the way again with 2 KRBs, one on the TD run. 14-0.

The first quarter ends on the kickoff.

St. Louis 14, St. Joseph 0.

St. Joe does nothing with the ball but go backwards. We take the punt and return it to the STL 39 yard line.

General Mike shows up on the field for another critical 3rd and 4, and this time busts out a 14 yard run on a sweep. Another big run by a back puts us close to the endzone. A few plays later, we make it 21-0.

St. Joe's offense is once again stopped, but this time the punt team puts us on our 29 yard line. 6:26 left in the half.

Indoor (3 KRB) and nfg22 (1 KRB) again show the strength of the offensive line. Indoor was particularly effective on the TD run. 28-0. 2:25 left in the half.

St. Joe's offense goes 3 and out, despite a good kick return. We take over on our 24. 1:18 remaining in the half. Three non descript runs by us, and we head to the locker room, with a vaunted lead.

Halftime:

St. Louis 28, St. Joseph 0.

St. Joe takes the 2nd half kickoff, and despite moving to midfield, still has to punt. Our returner (the starting running back) does a great job, and we end up on the St. Joe 34 yard line!

Unfortunately, he receives a minor injury on the next play. We'll have to see how the game unfolds to see if he returns. He doesn't on this drive, and it sets up a 46 yard FG attempt. Suprise! We make it. 31-0.

A good kick return by St. Joe is for nothing, as we intercept the next pass. We take over on our 34. We try and get fancy, throwing a pass, but it's intercepted and returned for a TD. They complete a 2 point pass, and it's 31-8.

We take the kick, and our fullback busts out a 54 yard run, and that gives him 100 for the day. The first sign of our starting back, and he fumbles. St. Joe's ball on their 34.

St. Joe moves downfield to our 44, but is stopped. We set up for a punt return, but scramble to a field goal block when we see the kicker run out on the field. Unbelievably, this guy hits a 61 yarder. 31-11.

Nfg22 contributes a KRB, but we end up punting on a 3 and out. The ball rolls out of bounds at the St. Joe 13. It's interesting that they have 11 points but less than 100 yards total offense.

3rd and 1, and we send Ragone on the run blitz. He stops the back for a 2 yard loss. They end up punting the ball to us. We take over on our 46.

Nfg22 gives us another KRB, and the 3rd quarter ends with the ball in our possession.

2nd and 7 on the St. Joe 17.

St. Louis 31, St. Joseph 11.

2 plays later, we score again. 38-11.

St. Joe comes out throwing after the return, and our main cover guy Ragone comes up with yet another INT. He returns the ball 25 yards to the St. Joe 19. Unfortunately a player on our team suffers a serious injury.

General Mike gets the call and carries for a yard off tackle. Two plays later, our kicker connects on a 30 yard FG. 41-11.

St. Joe keeps the starters in while we mix in the backups. One backup gets a sack and strips the ball, another falls on the ball. Our ball on the St. Joe 13.

JeeberD makes his presence known with a KRB on 3rd and 9. Unfortunately, the TV crew caught this:

STJO 54 Reeves eluded STLS 69 nfg22 to break up the play. We're backed up to the 3 yard line.

Two plays later, JeeberD makes another KRB and we score. 48-11.

St. Joe keeps the starters in, and drives downfield. Eventually they're forced to punt. It goes for a touchback. 3:16 left in the game.

The backups come in for the drive, for the most part. Indoor is credited with a KRB, so that means at least one starter is out there. General Mike peels off another 3 yard run. However, we're forced to punt just before the end of the game, and St. Joe gets the ball on their 38 with 9 seconds left. They run the ball on our prevent defense to end it.

Final:

St. Louis 48, St. Joseph 11.

25 first downs, 387 yards rushing, and 29 yards passing for us.

Player of the game: Indoorsoccersim.

He's also the only FOFCer mentioned for player of the week. Although our 3 starting backs are mentioned.
