On Virtue I'm Ramsack. I die a lot.
I'm not a comic-book fan, I despised every MMORPG i've played but I am having a BLAST playing this. It is especially fun to skulk around with the folks from here. Like CoffeeWarlord mentioned, it may get stale after 3 months or so, but for now I have already squeezed the $50 worth from the game. Unlike in EverQuest, for example, COH makes it fun to scrap around for your first 4-6 levels. In EQ, you spent your first few levels killing spiders, polar bears, and whatnot. In COH, you are patrolling the city looking for purse-snatchers, car vandals, and general hooligan. The effects are really, really good and the character system probably guarantees no 2 characters will ever be the same. See you on Virtue! |

i got sucked into this also.
I have 2 guys on liberty Inadequacy Lad - lv 4 blaster Secutor - lv 2 scrapper I made an earth controller on virtue (Mandrill, lv 3), but I don't like him & hope he dies. Does the FOFC contingent on virtue have any character needs (defender, tank)?

It's not the first game to do it to me. Unreal Tournament did it to me years ago. Morrowind used to do it to me, but I seemed to get past that. I will give CoH another shot tomorrow night to see how I react, but if I start getting the woozies within 45 minutes of playing, I know I don't stand a chance.

To all COH FOFCers. A few of us have already reached the 10th level and can now start a Super Group. What shall we call it?

Sorry to hear that Pumpy
If everyone puts the characters listed here on their friends list (command is /friend superhero name, like /friend Blizz, you can see who from the FOFC is online at any given time, and if they come online while you are online. You can also talk in friends chat (click the little F near the bottom of the chat window. This would make getting together much easier than a "Any FOFC'ers on?" broadcast into the deepening dark. Also should we consider forming a supergroup now that some of us are high enough level to start one? And Uncle Morty is one scary clown let me tell you. We definitely need healers. Is anyone a healer so far? I was thinking of creating one to play from time to time with FOFC when I wasn't playing Blizz, but I would need to catch up in levels big time if I do so. |

Once you start venturing into the large enemy group areas, you will see why Coffee Warlord mentions DEFENDERS. Without them, a group is essentially doomed to die. So please, if you are the nurturing type choose Defender and learn to Resurrect ASAP! Even if you aren't nurturing, you will be the life of any party if you choose defender. They are scarce as Element 115. |

Oops cross post in the night with Bonegavel there.
I think we should just call the group FOFC. We can make up a silly title for it as somehow Front Office Football Central Assemble! doesn't sound very heroic. |

Yeah, doesn't matter as long as FOFC is in there somewhere. Do you think it would be nice if SkyDog could add a forum for us under Hattrick and PC/Console Section? It would be nice to have one place for us to assemble online, yet out of the game. Ramsack is almost 11th level. I should have named him after the new affliction I've bestowed upon myself, but who wants to go fighting crime with CarpalTunnel Man. |

To anyone thinking about checking the game out I'll add another tease.
If you've played an MMORPG, you will know that in the vast majority of them (planetside being an exception) the combat is point, click, yawn. Not so here. The devs of COH know fun and watching group on group action () is nothing short of spectacular. It is still a bit point and click, but somehow they've managed to not make it boring. The visuals (on a good enough pc, i'd imagine) are beautiful. The models are so well done, I couldn't imagine them being any better. The animations are also top notch and I couldn't imagine them being any better as well. This game may actually prompt me to go and check out a few comic books. Here's to hoping they figure out how to add features to make it even better in the months to come. To Virtue and BEYOND! (campiness welcome ) |

pumpy are you playing a tanker or scrapper? If you are maybe you should pick a blaster defender or controller so you can hang away from enemies and not have the camera rotate as much? I defintaly get a little dizzy when playing my scrapper cause the camera rotates to follow whoever you have targeted.

I've been playing the game off and on since the release. Quite a fun little game. I think I'm on the Infinity server. My main Character is "Thunder Bolt". Guess I'll need to give Virtue a shot with everyone playing on that one.

Man, you guys are making it really difficult to not buy this game.
I'm going to be an unemployed sucker in about 3 weeks though, so I have to resist the urge. Sounds like fun though, and I am a sucker for MMORPGs usually...for a few months. Then I hate them and wonder why I ever wasted timing playing them. |

I hear you. After EverBore, I swore I would never, ever, ever pay to play a MMORPG. Since then I've tried many betas/trial periods and those only confirmed that decision. Until now. If it wasn't for this forum I would have passed this off like any other online game. Boy am I glad I didn't. |

Btw, I may work on an alt character a little bit tonight.
If you see the mighty Akadios on, that's also me. (The name was an old tabletop character of mine, and I'm basically remaking the character.) Best of all. He's gonna be a defender! |

I think i'm going to skulk around as The Ramsack for a bit (under 600 xps until 11th) and then add a new alt as well so we can each take turns being the boring Healer during trips to Steel Canyon and Perez Park.
Coffee, it seems pretty easy to start a Super Group... should I make one and just call it FOFC? |

I think Legends of FOFC sounds cool, but why the heck should I be voting since I don't have a character.
What are the graphics card requirements for the game (ie would my Radeon 7500 even cut it)? SI

Made a 4-foot 300 lb tanker named Hahdrek. He's level 5 & keeps dying in King's Row by the Clockwork. Grr, Clockwork. Being a Tanker is possibly the most boring thing ever, but I'm willing to team up & get my ass kicked so you guys with cool powers can hurt things.

OK, the FOFC super group has been formed and it is called....
FOFC Justice League Not very creative, but it fits in line with the milieu. I made the team colors Yellow and black, but if I can change them, I'll make them yellow and maroon in honour of the board color scheme. A bunch of us are already on the team and if you want in, simply find me, let me know via /tell (so it is private) who your are from the board so we can keep this "in the family" so to speak. You can only join 1 Super Group per alt, so keep that in mind. [edit - oh, i guess it would be nice if I posted my alt on Virtue. Ramsack. To make it easy, simply do a '/friend Ramsack' that will add me to your friends list so we can communicate easily.] Last edited by Bonegavel : 05-04-2004 at 08:06 AM. |
