The run on QB's continued and my top two signal callers were snapped up (Unitas and Fouts). As a result, I considered holding off on a QB since only three teams needing a QB will draft before my next pick. So I looked at other positions and tried to come up with a name that would justify passing on a particular quarterback, but I really couldn't find anyone that would make as much of an impact as the man I will select with my second round pick.
John Elway, QB - Holder of the record for most wins as a starting QB - Winner of five AFC championships - Two Super Bowl rings - Nine time Pro-Bowler - Second in history in passing yards, passing attempts, completions, and total offense - 1987 NFL MVP - Owner of 41 Fourth quarter game-saving drives |

Was Fouts really that high on everybody's list..... I kind of chuckled when Coug picked him.... but maybe I'm missing something here....

Same here...I like Fouts, but Elway was higher on my list, as were 2 other QBs...

The Iron Curtain defence was the berdrock of the Steelers' 70's dynasty and this player was the foundation upon which that defence was built. He was Chick Noll's first pick as Steelers coach and his brutal, dominating style would set the tone for his teamates as they became the single greatest dynasty in NFL history. This guy was pretty mean...

Alright, back to me. It pains me a bit to take this guy and have to put up with his shenanigans, but he's too much of a weapon to pass up. I select DB/KR/PR/WR Deion Sanders.
Why a CB: A great cover corner helps the whole defense out and gives you more options: blitzing, doubling another receiver, using safeties in run support, and so on. Why Deion Sanders: We only get 12 choices. With one pick, I bolster special teams with one of the more dangerous returners in history and give the team a useful offensive specialist/decoy with his speed. And most importantly, he will shut down just about any wideout and is a threat to score on defense. Noble Platypus, you are on the clock. |

Top pick JAG, but I think I'll list him as just a CB for now.
BTW, I realise that I am seperating DE/DT but not OLB/ILB, should I or should all linebackers be grouped together? Or does it make any difference at all? |

Well, I already have the all time leading passer, so I think I will add the all time leading rusher:
Emmitt Smith. I know there is only 1 ball I have pass happy Marino, but Smith also has 500 career receptions to go with his 17000+ yards rushing.

I think we should break it up, or at least draft a whole team. How much do we get out of this if someone drafts 8 QBs? It would change the strategy if you knew you had to field your team.Thoughts?

I really like Chubby's team so far.
Also, FWIW, I think that y'all should stop at 12. While the idea of fielding a "whole team" sounds really neat, you will probably run out of steam once you are trying to find your second guard. With 12, you are all assured of having the steam to finish. |

Thanks! Yeah I think that trying to find 5 OL would be a pain and take waaaaaay too long. Anywhere between 12-15 guys should be enough to get a solid "feel" for a team IMO. |

Yep. Lilly is yours, too, of course. Personally, I think Bobby Layne was a better player than Baugh. Completely unbiased opinion.

In my opinion, the third best QB of all time is still out there (Montana and Unitas are 1 and 2) and it isn't Sammy.

Your opinion is worthless because you called Montana the best ever QB.

Terry Bradshaw to Joe Montana: I guess I'm as good as you, then.
Bart Starr to Joe Montana: Just like Otto, I'm better than you.

This thread is very interesting
Deacon Jones and Bob Lilly are great picks, although I am not sure if they ar the top two d-lineman of all time. I think if you ask Deacon, I think he might say that he was not even the best d-lineman on his own team. Don't let the flowers fool you. Deion is a great pick. Maybe best ever at his position. Man I hate that guy. |

May be a little small by todays standards, but played off toughness and intensity, becoming the first nose tackle and prototype for all those who would follow. |

This pick is awfully tough. There's three guys I want to take here...I'll have to hope that they fall.
I think there's only three real shutdown corners in NFL history...guys who just redefined the position. So, I'll take the first to do that. My pick is Night Train Lane, CB. |

Good, I didn't really want to take a WR 3rd round, but if Hutson was there, I doubt I could've passed him up (no pun intended).

Hutson and Night Train are a excellent picks, both would have been impossible to pass on if they fell to me.

Montana to Hutson...it has a certain ring to it. I was getting hopeful of having a Packer QB-WR tandem that spanned 50 or so years. There have been a lot of good picks taken recently, I'm seeing a lot of guys I was hopeful of taking disappear. Still one main guy left I'd like to see fall to me.
