If you are playing a likable character or hot character, whatever goodness or hotness there is does come from the real person, at least a piece of them. Playing cold and awful people does come from good acting but often hurts them from a likability/hotness factor. And obviously nothing about women was really in Henry VIII's time. I think one of the issues is that the nominees are virtually all actresses. It's not like we are comparing models, singers, athletes, actresses, and more all at the same time. Since we are comparing actress to actress, I think acting skill certainly plays into it. I'm more likely to vote hot for someone who've I've enjoyed professionally in various acting roles, even those that are not hot.

I know, which is unfortunate. I think one of the hottest things a female can do professionally in public is to be a lead rock singer. That's why someone like Susanna Hoffs is a top 3 vote for me.

I get the feeling that some have not seen very many actresses that have dropped their clothes and have a sex scene and therefore, have to be hot because of that.

I would bet good money if we revisited Dormer in like 9 months (after she plays Maergary Tyrell in Game of Thrones Season 2) she'd be easily getting to 60-70% if not higher levels.

I know it was suggested earlier in this thread, and with a lot of the HoN being somewhat dated, what about flipping to a 1-10 celebrity scale beginning with 2012.

You wouldn't need to scrap the chart entirely, as the new nominee's could be incorporated into the current rankings at what their grade is. So for instance, a 7.6 would rank right around the Melissa Stark/Eva Mendes level.

And over time, we would then be able to update some of the older scores. Just a thought.

In order to do this, you would need to establish what a 1 rating should look like. For example, it looks like Natalie Dormer is going to get around 12%, but compared to the general population she is probably at least a 6, maybe a 7.

As someone who had a kid that watched every episode of Drake & Josh (meaning I've seen them all about 20 times myself), it's hard for that not to feel kind of creepy.

I was considering running that tournament of Hot or Notters in the new year. Would that serve the purpose? I'm not sure rating would work well considering everybody's ratings will be at different scales. That was the problem with the original Hot or Not site. Some guys just gave every decent chick a 9.

An easy way to clear out a bunch of Noms would be to post 5 in a multiple vote poll option, click on the person to vote hot. Like run a hot or not 6 pack to blow thru some people.

Also there's no real reason to separately vote in multiple members of say a TV cast. Like "women of Entourage" is much better than these chicks who have strange names and such.
