Blatant 2 hand shove before the rebound and put back for Iowa. Really sucks for Temple that 3 refs missed that.

Right now, #2s are 118-8 all-time in the first round, which is 93.7%. And I think those upsets have happened disproportionately more recently, so 92% seems about right for a strong #2 in 2016.

Sorry but I think MTSU would have beaten almost anyone else in the tournament with how well they played. Michigan State didn't play their best but MTSU played out of their mind.

Perfect example then of why a player should never be thinking 'milk the clock' over everything else in the final minute. Wisconsin up 4 with a Pitt player lying in the crowd and an open Wisc player on the baseline, and the Wisconsin guard just dribbles the clock down....

You're right. MSU shot 56% and 46% from three. Rebounds were nearly even, turnovers were not that lopsided. MSU had 9 more fouls called on them, but some of that was fouling late.

MTSU just played a great game and beat MSU heads up. As a Dayton fan though, if Syracuse wins Sunday, I'm going to lament the easy path to the Sweet 16 we blew with a terrible performance today.

What a first two days. SFA hanging tough here. Kept waiting for them to melt it down.

If SFA holds on, I think that means that every seed number except a 16 will have won a first round game.

Damn.

What's fun about this year's underdogs winning games (so far) is that they're finishing strong in ways past ones usually don't. VCU/Butler excepted.

Bad seeding as usual for America's biggest reality show.

Is it just me or should SF Austin start holding on to the ball more to waste time?

MCaffery isnt going anywhere. While he is starting to lose a little of the base with the way the team has played down the stretch the last 2 seasons (1-7 and 1-5).
But he has 2 sons that are very highly rated. Iowa will not lose out on those guys. And some good recruits coming in.

Fran has to figure out how to get his players tougher. Or recruit tougher players. Not one of Iowas players wanted anything to do with the ball at the end of OT. So our terrible shooting PG threw up junk and we got away with one.

Watching Iowa bring in coaches sons will be be interesting to say the least. Alford is burning Westwood so his son can play a record amount of minutes

These kids are pretty highly rated.
His oldest son, Connor is rated 24th in the nation in his class by ESPN. He is a 6'5" guard.

And I know about coaches sons. I had to watch Todd Lickliters son play at Iowa. That kid couldnt start for his HS team, literally.

Goofing around with the old March Madness board game and made teams for the tourney. Did a double take when I rated SFH. Well, guess they were properly rated after all. Fun team to watch.
Big Ten isn't doing badly but losing the flagship team isn't good. That was my pick to win it. Thought this was one of Izzo's better teams. Sad for Valentine. Helluva player.
I'm officially avoiding local (Louisville) news now because of the UK hype. They asked one of the players about the tradition at IU, his response was to ask if they had the coach that threw the chair. Pretty sure they'll do a feature on their dinner choices tomorrow.

Been a fun tourney so far. Just as wide open as you'd expect. Just no clear cut teams this year.

Michigan-Notre Dame game is good.

Okay, hand on ball >> ball in cylinder I guess?
(I don't know the fine print of the rule there)

That's just a brutal finish no matter which way you were pulling.

Not sure which hurts worse as a fan. Losing on a half court desperation shot, or the phantom 5 second call from a few years ago.

Lets see:

21 years
19 straight NCAA tournament berths
7 Final Fours
13 Sweet 16's or better

Yeah, time to get that loser out of Michigan St. I'm sure there won't be a college in the country with interest in him.

I'm also sure Michigan St. will get a better replacement.

Good Call.
