Just watched highlights of the Canada/Belarus game at the world championship. The game was called by British announcers......i swear...i thought i was watching soccer highlights the way they call the game. They don't really do play by play.Kinda interesting.
BTW...Giroux made some sick ass plays during the game....highlights are worth watching just to see him dangle.

That goal with .3 seconds left put an end to the Blues season.

This thread seems rather dead for this time of year. Is nobody watching the NHL playoffs, or just don't have time/desire to post anything about it?

Well I'll be damned. We actually won this series. I honestly didn't expect this team to even make the playoffs, let alone win a 7-game series. Kudos to Anaheim for a great series, now we are on to Chicago.
I know the Blackhawks will be a heavy favorite, and Detroit could take the series to 6 or 7 games, but in the end I don't see us getting past Chicago. Chicago in 7.

Wildly entertaining series.
No lead - at least from a Wings' fan perspective - ever seemed safe. I was pretty convinced that Anaheim would tie it up after their second goal tonight. The Ducks got some great performances out of their fourth line, but Perry, while having a ton of shots and opportunities, didn't have a goal. That was probably the difference. And now on to get swept by Chicago!

We played the Hawks tough all year (except for the 7-1 shellacking on NBC), I don't see the Wings getting swept. My prediction is a 7 game series with Chicago winning, but who knows what will happen with these games anymore.

Hawks big three against our bottom 4 D? Oof.

The only safe prediction here is Toronto riots tonight, win or lose.

I heard these on the radio, so I hope I remember correctly.
The Caps are 4-10 all time when leading a playoff series 2-0. The Caps are 2-7 in playoff game sevens at home. Sucks to be a Caps fan.

How the hell does the ref not call that high stick? He is looking righ tat it when it happens and it was obvious as hell.
I guess because it would have meant a call against the Penguins... |

Even coming out on the wrong side of the score, that was a great game.
Penguins at point play like they want Dan Bylsma fired. He puts out 2 D on the PP, which he never does. I can't imagine his strategy for the final 30 seconds was dump it in, then stand around.

Could the NHL be any more fucking biased against the Wings? That should have been a boarding penalty against that douchebag Hjalmersson. Chicago is a bunch of hacks.

NHL refereeing is absolutely terrible. Not just in the Wings-Hawks series, but league wide. It's embarrassing.

As someone who watched the majority of Wings games during the Tomas Holmstrom era I have seen many, many far worst no-goal calls. That said, I don't buy the anti-Red Wing bias thing.

If you can find a Holmstrom goal with less contact than that, I'd be interested to see it

They are legion. That said, I didn't agree with most of those calls and don't agree with the no goal call last night. Still, the hit on Franzen that led to Kane's goal should have been a boarding penalty, so it's all a wash: the refs giveth and the refs taketh away.

The iffy call regarding the goal for Stahlberg does not excuse a no-call on the obvious boarding penalty that left Franzen in a fetal position on the ice. While it is true that he is somewhat of a softy, for a league that says player safety is of utmost importance they sure have a lot of ambiguity regarding cheap shots. Abdelkader was suspended for 2 games for something far less obvious than the hit last night. As for the goal that was waived off last night, rule 69.3 per NHL rule book states Quote:
Was it a judgment call? Absolutely. But so was the non-call on Hjalmersson with his hit on Franzen, and that one led directly to Patrick Kane's goal.

As an outsider to this thing you call the playoffs, let me just state that I do not believe there is any conspiracy. Guess what, guys? Refs are humans. The game is super fast, they have to make judgement calls constantly, and sometimes they get it wrong or are inconsistent. Such is life. Gary Bettman is not choosing sides between Chicago or Detroit; he wins with either of those teams advancing.
