Good read as always Sab. I was hoping you would land Kirk (that monster QB). I was a bit surprised that Newark landed him until I saw that they ended 11-1 and in the title game this year. Some amazing work for a SCE team. Some pretty tight recruiting standards there. It will be interesting if you can make it work.

If I remember correctly, that was one of the big complaints about TCY back when everyone was playing it. It was inevitable that one or two of the SCE teams would rise above the others and basically become national powerhouses. So after a few years, I knew I'd be competeing with them for recruits. That's why I put the SCE near me, so that it would add a few more teams I'd have to compete with. It was disappointing not getting the monster QB, but I didn't think I'd get him. Bryant was the one I had my heart set on, and I'm very happy I got him. With also getting RB Tatum and WR Moss (hopefully no relation to Randy) , I should have a good, reliable and efficient offense within a few years. |

Players Leaving
WR William Ackerman The absolute stud of a WR has left the Connecticut Huskies due to his academic problems. Drats!! I also had a few scrubs leave, as well as OLB Bert Holland, who was decent, but not going to start. In The Dog House Drug Violation FB Calvin Diehl 41/56 Well, I had hoped to redshirt Geoff Woodson, but now I can't. Academic Probation RB Warren Beckman 15/26 Like I care.... |

I agree that one of the SCE teams tends to get good relatively qucikly. But not normally that quickly and not normally that good. If I remember correctly having the SCE8 close increases the quality of recruits but, obviously, the number of teams fighting for them. Anyway, good luck and carry on.

2009 Connecticut Huskies
Quarterbacks Code:
Sedrick Bryant comes in as a bit of a disappointment. All of his "passes" ratings are low. He is mostly developed though. Migliore did a pretty bad job last season, so I'm going to stick the freshman in there and see how it goes. James is red-shirted. Starter: Sedrick Bryant Running Backs Code:
Tatum looks like he'll develope into quite a nice running back. Tatum is redshirted. Benton will be my starter, but Badillo will get plenty of carries as well. I wanted to redshirt FB Woodson, but with Diehl being suspended, I can't. RB Starter: Renaldo Benton FB Starter: Kyle Hudson Recievers Code:
Rayburn will start again at Tight End, and Mullis will be the #2 TE. Tracy Moss looks like he might become a stud. Pete Sidney looks like he'll become a great player as well. I'm short on WRs, so I'm pretty much forced to play both of them (as I want to make sure Dogins and Handwerker do not get on the field.) Maloney is not as good as advertised. TE Starter: Nicky Rayburn WR Starter: Joseph Rooks, Tracy Moss Offensive Line Code:
Center: Malcolm Parrish Guards: Jumbo Shank, Les Daniels Tackle: Gene Elliss, T.J. Lundgren Defensive Line Code:
Whitemoan is redshirted DE Starters: Tyrell Stokes, Ken Jackson DT Starters: Hugh Kaplan, Neal Walker Linebackers Code:
ILB Starter: Lee Ellard OLB Staters: Ronnie Shea, Jessie Healey (Barry Fielding will be rotated in for both) Defensive Backs Code:
CB Starters: Roderick Gonzalez, Clancy Dexter (Kurt Bishop will get rotated in a lot) S Starters: Corwin Gamez (FS), Dale Preston (SS) Kickers/Punters Code:
Lary Cole and Terrell Tang are redshirted Punter: Edwin Shepard Kicker: Daryl Fisk (Kickoffs), Jamie Carlson (FGs) |

Still Reading! Great stuff! I am looking forward to the new season.
Did have a question though, without knowing the development numbers for the boys, is QB Migliore more developed in passing than the freshman Bryant? Does Bryant look to be a better fit in the offense? I know Migliore had less than stellar numbers last season, but was wondering if Bryant is worth turning the keys to the offense over to him this soon? Thanks for the effort and keep up the good work! Go Huskies! |

According to my Scout (who is Fair in QBs), they are both developed about the same. Migliore has better "passes" ratings, but Bryant has beeter Avoid Interceptions, Third Down Passing and Yards Per Throw

2009 Recruiting Plan
1-5 Scale. 1 = Not concearned, 5 = Badly need (Note, in keeping true with my original plan of focusing on defense and just building an offense that is simply efficiant, you'll notice these numbers are scaled towards Defense.) Quarterback = 4 Sedrick Bryant is an unknown. I'm still going to go after a big-time QB. Running Back = 1 Badillo and Tatum, a sophmore and freshman respectively, will become very good backs. I can afford to let RB recruiting go a year or two. Full Back = 1 Hudson is in his last year, but I already have his replacement in Woodson Tight End = 1 Rayburn has two years left, and Mullis has 4. I'm fine here. Wide Receiver = 3 Ackerman leaves, but now I have Moss and Sidney, two freshman who look really good. However, I have no depth here so I'm going to try and grab 1 or 2 more. Center = 1 Parrish still has 2 years, plus Basso has a lot of potential. Guard = 3 Shank is in his last year and Daniels has 2 left. I have some depth here, but I would like a freshman or two to replace the soon to be leaving seniors. Tackle = 2 Ellisse is gone after this year, and most of my tackles are undeveloped. I'd like 1 more to try and replace the depth that will be leaving. Defensive End = 4 Stokes has 2 years left (they grow up so fast!). Ken Jackson isn't developing because of injuries. I did get another, Whiteman, who will be decent. 5 of my 6 DEs have 2 years or fewer left, so I need to recruit a few DEs so that I don't suddenly find myself with nothing but walkons in 2 years. Defensive Tackle = 5 Kaplan is in his last year. Walker will be good, but he has some developing to do. I will need a replacement for Kaplan, though. Not to mention some depth. Inside Linebacker = 3 Lee Ellard will start with O'Bryan getting rotated in frequently. I need depth though. The 3rd ILB is a terrible walk-on. Plus O'Bryan has 2 years left. Outside Linebacker = 4 I have 3 really good OLBs, but Shea will be leaving after this year, and then Fielding in 2. I need to get their replacements. Cornerback = 5 Kurh Bishop will be a monster, but both Clancey and Gonzalez will be leaving after this season. I need replacements BADLY or my secondary will be a huge weakness. Safety = 4 Hagglund leaves after this season, Preston in two. Specifically I need a Strong Safety. Punter/Kicker = 2 I can afford to focus on other things for now with 4 of each on my roster. |

Week 1-2 Recruiting Report
I actually have an 87+ guy as a green recruit. I wasn't planning on going for a FB, but I can't pass up going after such a great green recruit. Also, a 69+ OLB shows up as green too. Interesting concept on the recruiting. I hadn't thought of that. I haven't read through it all yet, but I'll try eventually (still stuck out here w/o much net access).
Can you answer a quick question, if one of your 3 black recruits declines, do you offer someone else?

Nope, I'm "locked in" to whatever black, red and blue recruits I go after. Green, however, I'll generally keep going after until the recruiting season is over since I don't give myself a limit for them. After week 4 or 5, I give it a few weeks (catch up on getting in my 2nd call and 2nd visit to all of my recruits). After the surge of recruits commit to me or other schools, I'll start looking at Green recruits again and go after the best of what's left over. |

Interesting. I'll keep this in mind. I'm planning on firing up a TCY dynasty upon my return to the US.

2009 Summary for Connecticut
We fell down this year. Bryant had similar stats to Migliore last season, so hopefully that's a sign that things will only get better. Overall, our team just got worse. I think I had a lot more starting freshmen and sophmores than in previous years so I think that had something to do with it. A look over some of my players shows that a lot of them developed pretty weel over the season. Code:

Tough season! QB is still tough for the Huskies(You can't seem to buy a decent QB!). That said, I am looking forward to the next several years with RBs Badillo and the debut of Tatum, FB Woodson and the WR tandum of Moss and Sidney. The Huskies skill players are looking decent!

2010 Connecticut Huskies
Quarterbacks Code:
Sedrick Bryant will again lead the team. Milgore...well, he had his chance in 2008, and blew it badly. Hanson is redshirted. Nice potential overall, but he has no arm strength at all (his screen and short passes are 40s potential, medium up at single digits). Bryant still has a few years, so no rush to find his replacement. Starter: Sedrick Bryant Backup: Ronald Milgore Running Backs Code:
HB: Randy Badillo, Floyd Tatum FB: Geoff Woodson Recievers Code:
TE: Nicky Rayburn (last season) WR: Tracy Moss, Pete Sidney Offensive Line Code:
Center: Malcolm Parrish (last year I'll have him) Guards: Les McCormick and Les Daniels (both gone after this year) Tackles: T.J. Lundgren and Mitchell Vance Defensive Line Code:

2010 Recruiting Plan
1-5 Scale. 1 = Not concearned, 5 = Badly need Quarterbacks = 4 Will I ever be happy with a QB? No. QB is too important of a position to not recruit hard for every season Running Backs = 1 I have 2 pretty good backs, and I have a red-shirted freshman who will be better than both of them Full Backs = 1 Woodson is really good and has 3 years left, plus I have a red-shirted freshman who will be decent Tight Ends = 1 I've got more than enough tight ends, even with Nicky Rayburn leaving after this season Wide Recievers = 2 Moss and Sidney have 3 years left, red-shirted Gillespie will also be adequate. Center = 4 Parrish is leaving after this season, and I have two decent ones that will last another year. I need a new center to start training as my new starter. Guards = 3 I have decent ones lined up for the next several years, but none of them are really that great. Tackles = 3 Same situation as guard. Have several years of decent tackles, but no real standouts. Punter = 2 Shepard is in his last year, and I only have 1 punter after that but his potential is as good as Shepard's currents. Kicker = 1 I have 4 kickers, all "decent". If I see a great one worth trying for, I will. Defensive Ends = 2 Both starters are in their last year, but I have 2 young players waiting to take over for them. Defensive Tackles = 5 If I have to start a true freshman to have a chance, that means I need help at that position. Inside Linebacker = 5 Ellard has 3 years left, but after this year, he won't have an adequate backup. I need more inside linebackers for depth. Outside Linebacker = 4 Healye has two years left. Griffin looks like he could become a pretty good OLB, but I need more help there. Cornerback = 3 I have depth, but after this year, only one quality starter. Safeties = 2 I have 2 red-shirted freshman who look like they could be really good. |

Buffalo (1-0) at Connecticut (0-0) TV5 A close, low scoring game until the 4th quarter when we take a 10 point lead off a Gamez interception returned for a touchdown. They score a TD with 7 minutes left, but we manage to hold on for the win. Code:
