7 minutes to play in the 4th quarter, Maryland still leads 28-13.
Duke leads Navy 41-31 with under a minute to go. ACC teams tired of being down-talked? |

Maryland should be happy with the game they're putting up.
That said, Cal's ranking was voter stupidity, an overreaction to success against poor opponents. They aren't nearly as good this year as they have been in the past few years, from everything I have seen or read.

Looks like Maryland is going to do it - the onside kick was swatted out of bounds by a Maryland player rather then trying to cover it - well done.

The annoying thing about watching GT games right now - every announcing team talks about how the Triple Option offense worry is ball security, and Tech has fumbled the ball 9 times and lost 6 of them... which is true... except that there were two fumbles on the center snap, two on special teams, the one just now was just a regular run... fumbles are a problem, but very few have actually been on exchanges/pitches.

That really isn't all that much different than the out of conference schedules the UW has always had - one lousy team, one mid-level top, one really good team. If Notre Dame is as bad as they looked last week, they're the bad team on our schedule, and it's only because of their name that people think this schedule is harder than it really is. Now, opening with Oregon to give the Huskies back to back to back games against the Ducks, BYU and Oklahoma was not so smart. If they wanted to create a bye week, they should've tried to move up a different game than the Oregon one. But here's the thing - the UW is now in their 4th season under Ty. In my mind, that should be enough time to revive the UW tradition of success. Yes, Ty stepped into a program that had been through a lot of turmoil and was coming off a 1-10 season, but it was also a program that had just experienced their first losing season since 1976. I get that it was a tough situation, but I can't believe that it was any worse than what Tedford took over at Cal, and he turned that program around immediately. The fact that the Huskies are being forced to start so many true freshmen this season speaks both well for the recruiting class they pulled in last year, and poorly for all the previous recruiting classes. Yeah, Ty only had a limited-size class he could bring in his first season and Gilby had basically quit recruiting in October, but Ty still took his sweet time getting going on recruiting, and his first class has ended up as close to a complete washout as is possible in a BCS level team. His 2nd class wasn't much better outside of landing Jake Locker. This isn't new - he did the same at Notre Dame, where he had one really good recruiting class and the rest were mediocre or worse by Irish standards. Ty isn't a great coach. He should've been fired last December, but machinations behind the scenes made UW President Emmert feel compelled to have to hang on to him for one more season (though the AD Todd Turner paid the price for his part in defying Emmert). Now, because Emmert didn't have the balls to face criticism last December if he fired Ty, we Husky fans have to suffer through a lame duck, lost season. Ty stands almost no chance of winning enough games to keep his job, but he's burning redshirts left and right to avoid that fate and meanwhile most quality recruits are avoiding the UW right now. |

Not a good week for the PAC-10 so far. Cal loses at Maryland, UCLA losing to BYU, Stanford loses to TCU, Oregon getting killed at Purdue.....awful

Maybe McGuffie is legit, wow. Just about at 100 total yards after the first quarter. I had my doubts but he has some serious acceleration and vision.

Well, recruiting any DBs for Michigan should be really easy considering this group can't tackle, takes bad angles, is slow, and hasn't passed on any opportunity to make ridiculously bone headed flag inducing moments that present themselves. There may not be a worse secondary in D-I. Seriously. The only way Michigan wins this game is if the Irish pull an epic amount of brain fart in the 2nd half.

What the fuck is Oregon doing? They make a couple of good plays on O, and then follow it up with some idiotic mistake..
Oh my god...another INT.

So, Notre Dame and Michigan are really bad, right? I felt like I was watching a high school football game with those teams.
I do like that McGuffie kid for michigan though. I think he'll be pretty solid for them. But wow, not very impressed with the quality of the game thus far. |

I don't think BYU lets up...
Their "lucky" win last week has been overshadowed by the call, they were dropped 3 spots in the poll. If I am Bronco and Robert I just pour it on.

I'm at a loss, I truly am. BYU is beating us, but when your PK is kicking the ball into the long snapper's back, it's going to be a long day

SC defense holds at the end of the half, forces UGA to settle for another FG.
Gamecocks lead 7-6 at the half in Athens.

This game is highlighting why Matthew Stafford is just not as good as he is rated. He has a great arm and the "look" of a pro-qb. Yet, he doesn't pick up defenses very well at all, and makes some bad desicions. He'll make some beautiful passes, but he is prone to some dumb throws. I hoped he would progress more this year, but he just still hasn't grown as much as you'd expect a third year starter QB to do.
Of course, it doesn't help him at all that he has Tripp Chandler as a TE. Tripp and Drop. |

With the day the Pac 10 is having, is it really going to matter who wins between USC and OSU? Like, is anybody going to give either team credit for winning their conference at this point? You figure a Big 12, or SEC team is going to be better than either of the Big 10/Pac 10 champs.

Matthew Stafford in NCAA numbers would have great ratings but low awareness.

That's the thing. Why? They beat us in the bowl game. They're home and expected to be better than us. What's their beef? At least I don't have to worry about the team this year, lol. When does basketball start.
