How important is Qualifying? - The average winner has started 15th. The average polesitter has finished 12th.

Leading the most laps doesn't guarantee much. - The driver that has led the most laps in a race has won only twice. Bobby Mask at Bristol and Nick Phillips at Indy. But the driver to lead the most laps has averaged a 7th place finish.

The closest win was Silvers win over Crapnificent by 0.06 seconds at Zenjoltis. The biggest was Bobby Mask lapping the entire field at Bristol.

There has been an average of 7 caution flags per race. There has been an average of 22 lead changes per race. Excluding Daytona the average is only 13.

Daytona, FL - At the FOFC Winston Cup Series Headquarters today Bobby Mask announced that he has signed a one race deal with Quaker State for them to sponsor his car. It is not known what race this will occur at yet. It will probably be race 10 or 11. The Detroit Pistons will return to the #42 Chevy after Quaker State's one race deal.

Nick Phillips continued his Chicagoland dominance this week and led 198 laps to take home the checkered. But it didn't always look it would be his day. He led early but during the middle stages Sterling Silvers took over and completely dominated building up an 8 second lead at one point before a caution flag ruined it. It took lapped cars getting in Silvers way for Phillips to take the lead back.

A major accident occured on lap 99 which knocked out 6 cars and damaged over half the field. Included in the wreck was Chris Snow who finished 38th. Rewbie Newsday who recovered and finished 14th. Kodos Kang who finished 37th. It also ruined Scottie Montgomery's day.

Wow! I finally had a top 3 finish!!!

Through 10 of 20 races on the schedule this year Rewbie Newsday continues to lead the points. Somehoe his lead is still at 87 points despite being involved in wrecks nearly every race lately. Nick Phillips has moved up to second after becoming the series first two time winner this season. Chris Snow is now in 3rd. Vince Morgan continues to remain steady with his 4th place points position. And despite not hearing much from him this year Kai Collins is in 5th place with only 1 top 5 and 3 top 10's. Only 1 DNF helps out a lot.

Joliet, Illinois - Today after the Tropicana 500 Taco Money and his team announced the termination of the contract with Sunny Delight to sponsor their car. Apparently Sunny Delight had not been regulary paying the team and when they did it was an insufficent amount. The #55 car will remain sponsorless until another one can be found. Early candidates are Checker Auto Parts, Mobil, Artic Cat, and Kodak.

I am comming on strong this year. Finally a good year for the Mello Yello car. I am betting on it that Snow doesnt even get to first place in the points at all this year. And after two more races I will be leading. Time for a new Champion.

The Sirius Satelite Radio 400 at Michigan International Speedway. But this one will be under the lights. Michigan's first ever night race.

Notes: Nick Phillips will be running a one race deal with Pizza Hut to sponsor his car tonight. Afte tonight Mello Yello will return to the car.

#55 Taco Money will be running his car sponsorless tonight. But look for a sponsor next race. Artic Cat, Checker Auto Parts, and Jeg's High Performance are the three finalists for the sponsorship.

Problems once again struck Rewbie Newsday and Chris Snow. Both were involved in crashes after the yellow flag for a wreck on lap 63 had already been thrown. Both sustained some heavy damage which ruined their chances at victory. Snow finished 31st, Newsday 35th. Nick Phillips had a solid day and came home in 8th. Did not lead any laps though. Vince Morgan once again kept himself out of trouble and finished 11th. And Kai Collins finished in 19th.

After losing out last week Sterling Silvers thought maybe this was his week. He took the pole and led for a while but Travis Elkin's car was very very strong. Elkin led 130 of 200 laps to take home the victory. Al Kaholic had a strong run in 2nd. Silvers was 3rd. Billy Rudd 4th and Lance Vance 5th.
