That's going to be the ballgame, as Tech drops a sure first down pass on third and 20, then gets calls for offensive interference on fourth down. Before the Earls injury, I really thought we were going to come back, but after that the team looks pretty bad - false start, two holdings, and offensive interference on five downs.

GT looked just awful after the injury (didn't look all that good before the injury for that matter).

They managed to get the ball back with a couple of minutes left.
Two holding penalties, a dropped ball that would have been a 20 yd gain, and then offensive PI on 4th down heave.

Now 0-2 in the conference, Bennett was just 17/40 for 231 and 56 of those came on an early TD. Dwyer filled in capably for Choice but the offense couldn't produce when needed.

21-0 now halfway through the 1st quarter, at this rate we're looking at a 168-0 game.....

Is Northwestern really this bad?

FWIW, there seemed to me to be a lot of drops - that last one that would have gone for 20 was just the biggest of them. The surprising thing for me on offense was Bennett's mobility - he slipped out of a couple of sacks, and scrambled pretty well - the play near the end where Earls got hurt was after a Bennett scramble on 3rd and 14 to go to 4th and 1.

on a side note. Hawaii's schedule for next year is rumored to be done, with the final game coming against Syracuse

so we play @ Florida, @ Oregon St. home against Washington ST. and I'm guessing the Cuse game will be at home
not a bad non conference schedule, won't be any bitching about weakness next year.

I thought Bennett got a pretty bad spot on the Earls play. But, overall Tech just seemed to lack urgency. Choice is the only guy on the offense who plays with fire. If they don't care, I don't know why I should get all worked up and let it ruin my weekend.

Is it just me or was that an AWFUL spot on the Bennet run on 3rd down???

What is the rule? If it is where the ball is when he finally steps out of bounds, he was 1-2 yards past the marker!!

20-23 Wyoming with less than 3 minutes in the 3rd quarter. We'll see if they can actually get back in this and pull off the W.

Local radio reported that Earls is unconscious and unresponsive since the hit. I HOPE AND PRAY this ends better than it sounds.

As far as Louisville is concerned, maybe Petrino was MUCH better than he got credit for. Just off the top of my head I don't remember them losing too many D starters from last year.

And anyone comparing the Big East to the SEC this year, seriously, just shoot yourself now. At the Top LSU and Florida are CLEARLY better than anyone in the Big East. And West Virginia is the only Big East team that could play with Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas or maybe even Kentucky. Seriously I think Miss State goes 5-2 or 4-3 in the Big East...
As to the depth comment, it Cuse that pulled the upset. If a winless Vandy team beat Florida or LSU I think everyone would be pretty critical

West Virginia "could play" with Florida. Maybe not LSU, but they are ridiculously good.

As for "maybe even Kentucky", are you forgetting this same Louisville team that lost to Syracuse took UK to the final minute of last week's game?

I mean this reminds me when people said Georgia was going to kill West Virginia in the Sugar Bowl a couple years back. Yeeeah.

No shit. Rutgers would challenge all the supreme SEC teams and would easily beat all the teams CU listed.

All of this banter about how supposedly great the SEC is wouldn't even go away with a playoff. People would defend their losses by saying "well, it was just one game. They'd never make it through an entire SEC season!"

He certainly didn't look aware, if conscious, when bringing him off. That said, there was a report on one of the GT message boards I read that Coach Gailey said in postgame that Earls was moving his hands and toes while on the field; which has to be a good sign.

Tennessee marches straight down the field, 7-0 with 12 mins left 1st Qtr
Arkansas state needs just six plays, including a 45 yd pass to the 3, to tie 7-7.

Chavis might not be employed by halftime if this continues.

ajc.com article on Correy Earls says he'll remain at UV Medical overnight and repeats the bit posted here about Gailey saying he had some movement in extremities on the sidelines.

Now 14-7 Tennessee over Arkansas State, thanks in part to a running into the kicker penalty on a FG try.

Good time for me to go to dinner, no sense the Indians march down the virtual field on Gamecast.

Wow... Woodson with a NICE TD strike, bringing UK back in the 4th Q against Arkansas. Let's see if they can hold it with 4 minutes left. The more I see of Woodson, the more I like him.

Why does Arkansas even bother with any play that calls for Casey Dick to drop back to pass? They should just use McFadden as the "quarterback."

8 plays, 82 yds and Arkansas State closes back to within 38-27 of Tennesse, 4th quarter just underway in Knoxville.

Meanwhile Alabama has tied UGA 10-10 in the 3rd with a sudden burst of offense following a midfield interception.

So UGA back in front of Bama 17-10, around the middle of the 3rd qtr.
UT back out to a 45-27 lead over Arkansas State with 13:37 left.

edit to add: I hate to say it, but I think Knowshon Moreno might turn out to be a really good RB.

Struggling against a good Georgia team thats only loss was to SC...

This thread is a bit shocking to me. I am no SEC fan, Hell ACC/SEC is a pretty huge rivalry down here, but anyone who doesnt think the SEC is without a doubt 1 or at worst 2nd in terms of top to bottom strength isnt watching the same games I am
