At least Ramsey and Marshall Faulk are in form. The Bucs defense is shaping up as well. Too bad Bettis lost his job for the first few weeks, Shockey is injured and Pennington with a serious injury, not only to miss games but also see his ability to play well drop. |

I saw that someone drafted Minnesota's Michael Bennett. Isn't he out for the season?

Alf, it's probably better if you don't count on me right now. I'm currently working a job site near Orleans with no immediate internet access, so I will probably not be able to answer quickly. I'm following the draft though, pretty interesting so far. Some surprising choices from some teams... Right now, I like the teams Alf, Elven Knights and Glasgow. |

I considered pickign him in the 16th round actually, Dirk was about 10 rounds ahead of me. So now it's offical, I "wasted" 2 of my top 8 picks. It's good to know that in my championship year in 2001 I drafted : 1 Daunte Culpepper (traded him after 2 weeks for Fiedler and Biakabatuka (had a career destroying injury 1 week later)) 2 Martin Gramatica (my backup kicker for the year) 3 Albert Connell (cut by week 6 or so, he never played a role in New Orleans) 4 Keyshawn Johnson (scored about 2 TDs all year, still was regular 100yd-er) 5 Ladainian Tomlinson (steal of the draft) 6 Terrell Davis (I played him 3 games (10pt each time), was injured 75% of the time) 7 Bubba Franks (a steal?, had a breakout year, had about 2 receptions per week, but also 1/2 a TD per week) 8 Shaun Alexander (steal of the draft, started year as backup to Ricky Watters, but broke out for a superb fantasy year) In 2002, I started the year with: QB Culpepper and Frerotte (backup all year in Cincinnati) RB Bettis and Zereoue, Hearst, Dillon and Wells (cut him halfway the year) WR Freeman, Jac Green (cut him early), Priceless, Warrick (bust) TE Wycheck K Edinger Def Titans I'm confident my team this year is better, even with Pennington done for the year. Even after half a draft. Though looking at some other teams, I think we have some serious contenders with much better temas then mine. Especially 3ric, Dirk, Ck#12 and Pim's teams jump out I think. |

I knew we all had it in us to get the draft done as soon as possible, we just needed the extra itch activated by the preseason. |

Hello guys. PC has been on his box for 48 hours. Just unpacked it yesterday (minimum config : screen, box, keyboard, mouse, modem), It took me 10 minutes to do it all and manage to surf the web
Only 28 picks to go (2 rounds & 4 picks). I hope the draft to be done by Tuesday night at least, so that I can import everything to yahoo and we can set up our lineups for Thursday (remember, the NFL starts Thursday 4th !!!) |

Justin (son) looks like he has a bright future in the NFL....

Is GeG still on vacation? He's on the clock and knowing that Critch is living in a different time zone and still has one of the last 4 picks to make, I am kind of lost were I was going, but I just wanted to post that I hope we can get this over in time.

OK, here's a quick team by team. Feel free to use this against me after the season is over.
------------------------------------------ Alf - I think the strengths are in the RB's and the WR. I think I like Davis better this year than I do Taylor. Fargas is a good pick. Garner gets hurt, I think the Raiders turn to him before Wheatley. The QB's scare me. Brad is due for another injury and Jake. . . Well, he's Jake. As a Bronco fan, I hope he turns in a 30TD year, but it's just as likely he throws 20 INT's. The Raider defense is VERY dependant on the Raider offense. If Gannon lights it up again and keeps them off the field, they'll do very well. Ferguson in the 15th is a GREAT pick. . Oriant - I like Gannon assuming he stays healthy. (hey, he's 38, he isn't going to last forever) This team badly needs one the "part timer" RB's to get a lot of carries. Buckhalter is the most likely. I like the WR a lot. The defenses? Both Arizona and Seattle? You better hope Gannon stays healthy, the D's will not put a lot of points on the board. Mack in the 9th was a pretty good value pick. Ayr - Warner and Bledsoe are solid. Griese is gone for 6 to 8 weeks (announced today) I'd probably drop him and pick up another guy. I don't expect much from McGahee this year. That means either Hearst or Barlow need to get 20 carries a game quickly. It isn't any good to have both SF running backs if they each get 13 carries a game. Crumpler is a great pick. I think he'll have a big year. Don't expect a consistent performence from McCaffrey. If he's starting on opening day, it's in name only. Lelie will far surpass him IMO. I think you took the Ravens D to high, but made up for it nicely by the Crumpler pick. Elven - I like this team. QB should be set. I love the front two backs. Smith is a guy I don't like, but as a #3 guy, I can deal with him. I'm still leery of Boston. I'm not convinced he's going to have the year people think. Having said that, with the rest of the lineup, you only need him to be an average WR. Anything more than that is a bonus. Johnson, as with all rookies, will be wildly inconsistent. I'd try to find a WR on the waiver wire after a couple of weeks. If Smith holds onto that starting job all year, getting him in the 10th could be a steal. Garden - Brooks and Holcumb both have the potential to light it up. They also have the potential to go into the tank. In both cases, watch these guys as the year progresses. Brooks has a history of fading down the stretch, defenses may catch up to Holcumb. I love the RB's. Heap is the best TE in football IMHO. Moss is a fantasy dream. Bruce is a solid #2. Good backups here as well. Cross your fingers on the QB's. If one of them goes nuts, you'll be in it to the end. Geg - This is an interesting team. I like one of the QB's. I like the top two RB's. I love the WR core. (Johnson should have a big year, he averaged over 100 yards a game in his last 8 last year) I actually think he's better than the WR you picked before him. Stewart is now gone for the year. You are paper thin at RB. That may be the difference in some games later in the season. Glasgow - Garcia's back scares the hell out of me. I have him in another league. Pray he stays healthy. Breeshas to deal with Marty. Not good. Does it matter? Nope. This team has a great stable of RB's and WR's. I think this owner picked the Miami defense to high (6th) but got a potential steal in Onterrio in round 9. Goteborg - The QB's and WR are pretty good. I like Stallworth's potential and Troy Brown always seems to go low in drafts. Granted, he's not a #1, but behind Eddie Kennison in the 12th? He's better than that. The RB's could give you a problem. Amos, Duce, Dunn and Faulk all split a lot of carries. (I don't expect Duce to have the same number of carries as last year) That means you might have some good games, but consistency will be a major problem. You need at least one of them to bust out and become the clear cut #1 so you can have some degree of confidence when setting your lineup. Maass - Pennington is out for a long time and Kitna is busy looking over his shoulder. That means Ramsey had better be solid. I hope for your sake, he is. Faulk and Green should be great players. If Bettis regains his starting job at some point, you've got a pretty good 1-2-3. The WR have issues. If Smith doesn't come back 100%, I don't think there is a true #1 fantasy WR on the roster. Shockey in the second? I don't like it. While Shockey may have a great year, I think you would have been better served picking Moss or Moulds with the pick, Green in the third and grabbing J.Shock, T.Gonz or Heap in the fourth. I think the lack of WR will come back to haunt you. Paris - Good 1-2 at QB. Collins is underrated IMO. Gary getting the nod in Detroit will help out your RB situation a lot. LT is terrific. That can make Emmitt your #3 after Gary gets comfortable and you can live with that. The WR are terrific. I do think Walker was taken to high though. (4th) I think Lelie and Hilliard both outpoint him and that Moss does if he's healthy. If you lose the league, look at that pick. If he snags 90 for 1400, feel free to laugh in my face. R & D - I like one QB, hate the other two. (if you can't figure out which one I like, maybe fantasy football isn't for you) Martin NEEDS to stay healthy and produce. He goes down, there isn't nearly enough depth at RB. Duckett is a good back, but he'll split carries with Dunn. Same thing goes with the top 2 WR. No depth behind them. I like the Dallas Clark pick. He has a chance to do some really good things this year. Rurhpott - Pick up an RB if you can. At this point, you don't even have a backup if George gets nicked. I think you got a steal in Booker. Even with Kordell throwing him the ball, he's a very good WR. Mason is McNair's go to guy and should point a lot. Favre and Maddux both have WR to throw the ball to. I like the team, but I think you are really going to regret not saying "Onterrio Smith" in round 5. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Which team do I like the best? Who am I going to deal the death blow to? I like Elven. He needs to pick up a WR from the waiver wire early on, but I think there is a lot of depth on this team. If Curtis Martin gets hurt and Jordan becomes the starter in NY, I think Elven will win this league. TroyF |

Alf, thanks for importing the draft, that must have been one "helluva" job.
Maybe "we" should give Rurhpott and R&D an additonal draft pick or something to get replacements for Alexander and Reed respectively? Another thing about the Reed situation is that CK#12 picked him in the 8th round (not a pick you want to lose that easy). Or maybe he wanted Buffalo WR Josh Reed, who went undrafted. Alexander was "just" a 13th round pick, though he could have been worth Kevin Faulk or Moe Williams in stead. I noticed the absence of players before, I wanted to draft Tony Hollins (Texans RB) in the 16th round, but failed to see him in the Yahoo lists and decided not to draft him just in case he won't be available at all. |

To avoid he's losing 0-something, should you set his tstarters for this weekend or did you have something else in mind? |

MIJB, I can't set his lineup. I tried but I can't. Each people you go to his preferences (somewhere on the yahoo league) and allow to set up his team.
Ths only thing we can do is fire him and get a replacement player so that we can have a strating lineup for week 1. |

Hmmm, I think I've been very lucky this weekend being hooked to Dakiller's team...
Next will will be against 3ric's team for a 9th vs. 10th best scoring teams game. Good thing I picked the Buccaneers defense (their shutout saved the weekend of Marshall Faulk's offday in New York an the rest of my team being unable to score a td (I know, Ramsey tossed one...)) So far for the Elven Knights being favourites, they're sitting 0-1 at the moment just like the Dolphins,Raiders, Eagles, Packers, Rams and Patriots. |

My team was absolutely disgusting...awful.
Peyton Manning might have had one of his worst (less prolific) game as a Pro along with top pick Ladanian Tomlinson who had nothing on the day. terrible...

Manning is my QB in my 2 keeper leagues. No need to say I lost in both leagues...

OK, just made a bunch of switches.
Especially since my week1 scores were so pitiful : - Manning is benched in favor of Kerry Collins (facing the lowly Cowboys). - Torry Holt (with a new QB sending him the ball and facing an impressive 49ers defense) is benched in favor of Javon Walker. - Olandis Gary is benched for Emmit Smith. Just like the Rams, I'm already facing a "must-win" situation early on in Week2...
