Julio: How can you say that when a soccer player is making 50 million a year?

Seriously, I hoped he'd do this all along. It's a low risk move in my mind and the Cubs stepped it up to get him his guaranteed cash. And no NFL training camp? All to go to play for either a bad team or to be 4th reciever on a decent one?

Nah, stay in baseball.

The Raiders are preparing to make a run at Michael Vick, according to NFL sources. The Raiders package would include receivers Randy Moss and Jerry Porter plus the No.1 overall pick in the 2007 draft for Vick and the Falcons first round pick (10th overall).

"Hey, Mike. Good news about the truth coming out about that whole water bottle mixup at the airport. I'm sure that's a load off your mind.

Oh, by the way, we just traded you to the Raiders and took all of their good receivers.

So good luck with that."

I dunno exact details of Vick's contract, but if you go by the FOF version of it, it seems like the Falcons would be taking at least a 10m hit by dealing him off.

Well, I'd much rather see JaMarcus playing under Petrino than whatever towel boy the RAiders end up with as head coach. However, I seriously doubt that trade comes off.

We (the fans) need to make this happen somehow, but we also need to keep Moss there in Oakland. It's too good to be true. Maybe Atlanta could throw in a an extra draft pick or something to even that out?

It's a nice rumor, but there is no way that it is true.

The Raiders have Aaron Brooks. Why would they be in the market for a quarterback?

I think this is why!

Maybe I should have used a or a in my statment above.

Having Aaron Brooks is, of course, the primary reason that one should be looking for a new quarterback.

With this trade, the Raiders could kill two birds with one stone - they could get rid of the QB most likely to toss the ball 25 yards backwards AND get rid of the guy most likely to stand around and watch as the other team recovers the errant backwards throw.

This would absolutely devastate SkyDog. He's got the chance to draft Calvin Johnson, and no longer the room at WR to do so. :-D

The Raiders were going to go with the bring in one cousin, get another one half off sale.

I think it's a bigger number than that in real life...and because of that, I think the reality of the situation is they're more likely to deal Schaub. What do I know, though?

They'd probably get a better QB in Schaub than Vick anyways.

I've updated the draft order in the first post.

Does anyone know when the coin flip happens for the 3rd/4th picks between Cleveland and Tampa Bay?

OK, best info I could find is that the coin flip will be near the end of February since last year's coin flip happened Feb 25.

Is there a coin flip to decide who makes the call of heads or tails?

Honestly, I think the Browns or Bucs would be better off to lose the flip, pay a little less for their first rounder, and then get the higher pick in the second round.

I'd only take that deal if they threw in Marcus Vick for free. We need some more malcontents.

I wonder if the NFL Network will have three hours of exclusive pre-flip coverage.

dola--

Now that we have (at least) two threads dealing with the 2007 draft/free agency, maybe one of the mods could merge them into one thread.

Even though I'm the guy who started the second thread, it seems annoying to have two general threads about the same topic floating around.
