Browns gets PI in the endzone with no time left, Stafford gets hurt though so Culpepper is in.

It's somewhat hard to grasp right now. Chiefs are actually a good team all of a sudden. They're 3-2 in their last 5 games after a 0-4 start. They are also undefeated (2-0) when Larry Johnson isn't on the roster.

They have to run the ball since Culpepper is cold, right?

Big comedy in Detroit right now. Stafford held the ball FOREVER on the hail mary play, and then he got hurt. Interference on the Browns and now Culpepper's gotta come in and try to win it from the 1 yard line with no time on the clock.

Stupid timeout by the Browns allows Stafford to come back and throw the winning TD.

Some heads need to roll on the Steelers' special teams. I think they cut Arnold Harrison last week, but they have now given up 4 TD returns in the past 5 games and, obviously, they both played a big role in the losses the past two weeks.

I don't get the end of the Browns game. Did the Browns take a timeout? If so, why would you let Detroit regroup when they had to run a bad QB fresh off the bench?

They looked very physical on both lines. I think Cassell is a below average starting quarterback -- he made some terrible throws today and, even on a few of them that connected, he was late delivering or was so far off that it messed up the receivers' momentum. Kind of tough on the Chiefs -- they have so much invested in him, between his contract and what they traded to get him, but they will have a high pick in a QB heavy draft next year.

They did, yes. Because they're Cleveland, that's why. Did you see my recap of the end of the first half, where Cleveland ran a fake FG on 4th and 9 with 13 seconds left, converted it, and ran the FG unit back out again to kick the FG on the next play?

When you have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and none of the receiving corp that you're throwing to was on the opening day roster (Long, Pope, Wade, and Chambers were all signed during the season), it's not surprising that they have a lack of chemistry at times and he's often running for his life. Cassel has been very good given the circumstances. His arm won the game today.

I swear Mangini might be the worst coach since the second coming of Art Shell.

How on Earth did he ever even see some success with the Jets?

I saw that too. I was just confused because the announcers kept saying the Lions were given an injury timeout when they had none. I have to say that calling that timeout was one of the dumber coaching decisions I've seen all year.

Anyone else watching the Niner game think they got completely jobbed on that late challenge? It seemed that the spot was clearly almost 2 yards in front of where it should have been, and the Niners lose the challenge and their last timeout.

You still gotta stop them from running out the clock, but that was a HUGE change in the complexion of the last drive.

I can't see how you could say that. The Chiefs had three big plays that won the game for them: the KO return for a TD, the INT and return that lead to a FG, and Chris Chambers making a great run after the catch (aided by several missed/whiffed tackles by the Steelers). The KO return got them 7. The return prevented a sure-thing FG/possible TD by the Steelers and got them a FG, which was a 6-10 point swing. And Chambers YAC got them the game winning FG.

Lorenzo Charles, Aaron Studebaker, and Chris Chambers (who should have had another TD, but instead had to make a fantastic play to "only" got a ~40 yard reception on a horribly underthrown ball by Cassell) all had a much bigger impact on winning that game.

You obviously haven't watched the Chiefs to know what's going on. Cassel has rarely been the source of criticism by the staff. He's throwing the ball where he is supposed to, but when you have players who join the team mid-season, the timing by the WR is often off. People who blame the QB obviously haven't watched much of KC this season. The staff has repeatedly stated that Cassel isn't the reason that the timing is off.

FYI......Jamal Charles and Matt Cassel.

The amusing nature of the Steelers/Bengals thread on the board this week just before they both lost to the two weakest teams in the AFC West is not lost on me.

So anyone have any news on Warner's injury yet? I'm guessing concussion since they say its a head injury, but I still haven't seen the play he got hurt on. Leinart did OK in his first substantial playing time since 2007. Thankfully the Cards already had a big lead on the Rams or it could have been a third shocker like Cincy and Pitt losing.

Oh and speaking of Pitt, I have Warner on one of my fantasy teams, his backup? Yep Big Ben. Just great.
