As many as 3000 tomahawk missiles will be fired today/tonight. Only 60-72 were fired in the past 2 days.

There are "reports" (don't know if that's just another word for rumors) that Saddam had a "mass purge" inside his party last night - euphemism for "He executed a bunch of folks". This was evidently to get rid of any factions that may have supplied info to the US that led to the attack on Saddam's bunker the other night.

Significant amounts of cruise missiles are on the way. But a senior Pentagon offical says do not necessarily expect Shock and Awe, because this operation can "Ramp up and ramp down" depending on need.

Apparently the Turks do not like the kurds at all. The US has stated that them moving into Iraq would be a big mistake.

There are reports that we are allowing the Turkish troops to move into northern Iraq as part of them allowing us overflight rights. I'm guessing there are restrictions as to what the Turks are allowed to do.

ABC radio also reporting the Pentagon believes three Iraqi leaders were killed in the first strike Wednesday night: two vice presidents (whose names I can't remember), and the general known as Chemical Ali, the commander of the forces in Southern Iraq.

In diplomatic news, France has said it will veto any UN resolution authorizing the US/British coalition to administer a post-war Iraq.

Apparently Tony Blair approached Chirac about such a deal, although nothing's been drafted yet.

CNN is now reporting that Turkey has gone back on their word, forcing US planes to do a U-turn. It seems the US and turkey are trying to reach an agreement over them deploying troops in iraq.
