What carnage. That was so fun. Especially as a few seconds before the old guy tried to hide behind his 150 pound opponent

This staged crowd must be person for person the same crowd who showed up for Double Dare tapings fifteen years ago, just grown up.

I remember that first one, yeah - that one was good..

I hope they expand the number of events if they do another season.

There was one angle where it looked like you could stick your head up and not be anywhere near the fire. If that ever happened, it would surely be edited out.

Do you get penalized for falling? It seems like skipping the rolling thing and just running that would be faster.

if it's anything like the original, you have to wait 5-7 seconds before you can climb up.. it seemed like that happened.

23 people in the thread - I predict this thing's going to get ratings, at least for the premiere.

Yeah, like wtf. I'd just fall off too.

In the originals, weren't the gladiators in the pit to hold the contestant for that 5-7 second delay.

And I think this thing will probably get pretty good ratings as well.

I'm not sure i agree. AG has the advantage of the writer's strike, nostalgia, and just no competition to build ratings.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it come back and potentially to come back this summer (where I think this show really belongs anyways if you dont' have a writer's strike).

I'm sure it'll be back for May Sweeps if they get good ratings. They probably just didn't want to commit to too much of a run in case it XFL's out.

I disagree. This was 2 hours of quality programming. Way better than anything else NBC has at this point. If it doesn't get good enough ratings to stay on NBC, put it on USA before RAW.

yup. The contenders really took a shitkicking tonight (the female contender in the first episode blowing out her knee, and then Sgt Hot Blonde (thanks, Coffee ) taking a header on that steel bar..

Powerball is just a fucking scary event now with the pads, since there's no out of bounds, you can really get smacked.

Could they have made the goals any bigger? Jesus, I'd be raining 3s all day. The old game they were barely big enough to fit the ball.

This was pure shit, I couldn't even enjoy it for the unintentional comedy. Overproduced and overcommentated. I'm thinking of deleting this thread.

I haven't read the thread yet, but I'm watching now. Been waiting for this for a while (sadly).

Thoughts halfway through the show:

-What was up with the announcer and "I wonder what else Crush does for fun!" in the most possibly perverted way? I thought that was pretty damn funny.

-The skateboarder blows.

-Wolf is my favorite Gladiator so far. Come on..the howling? Yusss...

-Earthquake is a lame event....Won't miss it if doesn't come back.

Holy fuck...the Women's Eliminator was awesome...I mean it was sort of sad to watch, but I couldn't believe Koya couldn't pull herself up....I get the feeling the men's eliminator won't be so wild.

16.5 second headstart? I wonder if anyone has won it with such a time handicap.
