A little hint for picking the bowling tournament ones where it's so and so vs. the field. Do not pick the field. These use a stepladder style tourney, so the person only actually has to win one match against one other person to win the tournament. Where as the person going against him has already competed, quite possibly against multiple opponents before playing the round for the championship.

I don't know much about the bowlers going, but I figure the person fresh who only has to win the one match has an advantage, so I have made that pick 2/2 so far.

Picks are titled "I Run Good", which seems kind of ironical in light of my .500 record over 125+ games.

Damn... looks like my new rule will be to not pick games with Michigan State any longer.

Back to zero.

I am sucking it up big time. I need to do more research when I pick a sport outside of the big 4. I picked the field against some bowler, thinking that in any sport, the field is usually a good bet. Little did I know that it was a "step-ladder" tournament and the #1 seed bowler that I picked against had a bye until the final round.

Yeah, I almost did this the first time I was going to pick the field, but was curious enough to check how the tournament worked and then switched my pick to the bowler. Picking the #1 seed bowler seems like a good pick regularly.

No one in our group has been able to put together much of a current streak, but jbergey is racking up a lot of wins for the month.

I just broke a 6-game losing streak last night... it was ugly. Back up to 2 in a row now and I took UConn's margin of victory over Johnny Flynn's assists.

Try losing nine in a row - I've been hearing it from the guys in my other group big-time, even though I'm still ahead of a couple of them by winning % on the month.

"Streakers" as a whole have lost 8 of the last 9 days, so not many people are putting up streaks at the moment.

Ok, so how does this work? I see there's one game left on tap today: Cleveland at Phoenix. It's running about 95-5 for Cleveland. What does picking them mean?

Is this against the spread or anything?

if you get it right you have a winning streak of 1. If not you don't you can only pick one game(or thing at a time, whatever), the stats are mostly just for fun though I guess if you have a 15 game winning streak and you pick a big underdog right it might matter. But getting one right when you pick along with 95% of hte crowd is no different than getting a tough one right.

Also, I now have a winning streak of 2, for the first time ever! I also now have a higher success % than Flasch so I'm no longer bringing up the rear in the group, woohoo!

I finally am back on track with a winning streak of 2 after running off 6 losses. I hope they keep this going after March. I wonder if the tournament will help get a million dollar winner (closest I have seen this round is 19 I think)

It would seem to be technically just as difficult to have a long losing streak since the picks are essentially all tossups.

Think I managed to lose 12 of 13 in one stretch, but now I have a nice little 5 game win streak going.

Yay me! I picked 2 I have no idea on (Westbrook vs Morgan points) and some soccer game and... now have a 2 game losing streak. Here's to Josh Shipp outscoring Taj Gibson- again, something I know nothing about. Those parlay type bets will not end well for me.

One of the things I'm going to try and do is collect as many odd sports as I can on my entry. Give a shout if you see something a little off the beaten path on the board (I missed curling a weekend or two ago, but I did get the rugby )

I have to admit that they do a really effective job of getting toss up games. It seems like most of the folks in our group have gotten to 20+-ish picks and we are all pretty close to .500 overall.

I know that I have had a hell of a time getting more than 2 or 3 straight for the past month.

Up to 4 in a row with the help of some favorable NCAA tourney choices and some luck. I really like Florida State over Wisconsin tonight (probably the kiss of death).

Had a moment of questionable fanhood earlier, when I picked the WVU-Dayton game to total less than 130 points. They ended up with 128 points, in no small part due to my advising my Mountaineers to not foul anymore once Dayton got up by 8. I was also terrified that we might get a last second 3-pointer, but, fortunately, we never got the ball back.

I'm a terrible fan.

Stupid Florida State. I have won twice more since they blew the game against Wisky, so I would have 6 in a row now.

Anyone have the balls to pick the Cleveland State/Arizona game? I think I am going to hold off and pick Mizzou over Marquette, even though I hate to pick against a BE team in this tourney.

I'm up to 7 in a row now, largely due to being a Big East homer in the NCAAs.

What is actually far more interesting, however, is that someone is up to 24 in a row, with just three more days left in the contest.

New game starts today and runs through Dec 31. I thought they'd neuter it, but I actually think it's better. Guaranteed $1M prize that none of us will ever see. Top 7 streaks in that time get $10K (and the chance at $1M) and if you can put together a 13 game streak, you probably can get a t-shirt (first 10K who get that length streaks).

My longest streak after the first two contests has been 7.

I'm hoping baseball season will allow for me to get a nice streak going.

1-0, yay Spain. I'm glad that it's going 9 months this time instead of ending after 3. The guy with a streak at the end got put in a tough position of having to pick games he probably would have preferred to avoid.

dola, Spurs vs Pacers looks like a trap game tomorrow. 99%+ on the Spurs who are playing the second night of a back to back on the road. Pacers have been at home and off since Tuesday. It's usually a big factor.

Im not touching the Cavs/Magic game, it's too hard to bet against LeBron, but I think they'll probably lose again tomorrow, mainly for the same reason I'll probably wager against the Spurs.

Agree on Spurs game being a trap; Pacers have competed well at home over last month. I went with Capitals in hockey.

I've also sworn off of soccer games after being 12 games under .500 picking those crappy games over the last period. It is just insane to be that bad on games that should (in theory) be coin flips.

After starting with a 2 game win streak, I lost. It's early and I was out of town so I took a flier on NASCAR to get that one sport out of the way.

The elusive curling is tomorrow morning and I'll grab NCW, too, since that will be one of the last women's games of the year.

Do you have to pick certain sports every month? What do you mean "to get that one sport out of the way?" So far I've just picked NHL, NBA and now soccer games. Is there a rule governing how often you can pick a certain sport or something?

Switzerland beat Scotland in curling yesterday, USA beat Germany. But for whatever reason, Germany is getting almost 90% of the picks over Switzerland tomorrow. Is there something I'm missing that is causing Germany to get all these picks?
