dola, and I think it's live as in the rules/instructions, they mention that if someone is ahead with a few holes to play, he might want to go with a safer tactic...

I suppose I should read the rules/instructions one of these days.

Update: pars on 6 and 7, still +1

Next week, I'm working on my short irons, I've been in the fairway on every par 5 inside 100 yards and have missed all 3 greens. That's terrible

From the bit i've read it tells you conceptually, but has no instructions about the interface. It's pretty frustrating.

Fixed my country, and was +5 through 15. I hope with a week of practice, I can get through the US Q-school ok.

yeah, instructions don't say anything about the interface. I've taken the approach to hover with the cursor over any green word on any page

+6 through 17. I was hoping to have a so-so round, and hopefully make the cut after tomorrow's round, but I don't see that happening anytime soon now.

I think there's gonna be a huge grouping at +6 by the end of the day. If I can par 18, I'll be in that group

EDIT: Darn it, couldn't get up and down from the bunker. Shot 79 for the day, yuck

top 70 with ties make the cut, looks like we have a bunch of FOFCers just one shot off right now...

looking back at the Volvo Masters that I entered last week, the cut happened at only +4...

+7 as well. Got two birdies early, then hit two shot in the water that killed my round. Can't wait to see what I shoot tomorrow.

probably much of the same, since you will not have trained much in between the two rounds. As I said, I played two +7 rounds last week and I'm very interested to see if there will be any improvement this week, after training all week, or at least, as much as the the 3 times/6 days rule of thumb allowed me...

The EasyPar.org site says you can register for the European tour there. Is it a different site to register for the US tour?

This game reminds me of something you'd play on a tabletop, except it's got this neat interface to allow you to upgrade your character. I think that's great, and I'm surprised that there aren't more games like this (for things like bowling, auto racing, tennis, etc.). Hell, I think it would be neat to have a similar setup for team sports like basketball and volleyball. Each character is a player, and they join up with a team. Then the skills of the teams would help determine the outcome of the game.

I'm just musing here since my first EasyPar tournament isn't until next week.

I'm playing today as well. HoldenCaul ingame.

Started well, even par through 3 and then the wheels came off the wagon. In the drink on 4, bogied 5 all on my own, then into the water not once but twice on 6 for a triple bogie, and missed a putt on 7 to keep the streak of bogies alive. +7 after 8, good for second to last with 10 more holes to bogie.

Thanks, but I must be dumb. All I see is a sign up for the European tour.

Can I sign up for Q-school after I get my registration? Or is it a separate registration?

not to make fun of a fellow canadian, but bbor was having a decent round as I kept seeing him above me on the leaderboard, then boom, can't find him above, he's now under me. From even to +5 in three holes, capped by this spectacular 7th hole, a par 4:
Quote:
Round:1 Hole: 6 Par: 4
bbor chose to hit a DRIVER down the MIDDLE of the fairway and play for the MIDDLE OF THE GREEN with the approach shot.
Shot 1: Tee Shot - Miss Fairway Left To Pin: 143 Yards - In the Water
Shot 2: Penalty - Penalty DropTo Pin: 153 Yards - In the Short Rough
Shot 3: Approach - Missed Green Back To Pin: 22 Yards - In the Water
Shot 4: Penalty - Penalty DropTo Pin: 24 Yards - In the Rough
Shot 5: Chip Shot - On the green To Pin: 13Feet - On the Green
Shot 6: Putt - Missed Putt To Pin: 5Feet - On the Green
Shot 7: Putt - Holed Putt To Pin: In the Hole

7 on a par 4, triple bogey, ouch...

thanks vex, still much work to do though, look how bad I am on the green:
Quote:
Shot 3: Bunker Shot - On the green To Pin: 8Feet - On the Green
Shot 4: Putt - Missed Putt To Pin: 5Feet - On the Green

so let me see, I chipped it to 8' from the pin, take my putter and put it at 5' from the pin, wow!

I bogeyed that one, now at +4 after 10. Cut is at +5 right now.

bbor's #6 looks remarkably familiar...

Round:1 Hole: 6 Par: 4

Shot 1: Tee Shot - Miss Fairway Left To Pin: 189 Yards - In the Water
Shot 2: Penalty - Penalty Drop To Pin: 190 Yards - In the Short Rough
Shot 3: Approach - Missed Green Back To Pin: 12 Yards - In the Water

I think everyone from here that's in this weeks tournament is at +7, so we all have a little work to do if we want to make the cut.

yeah, that was a disappointing result for me. I hoped to at least improve on the score I did a week ago but nope, shot another crappy +7, bleh...

I went "what the heck" this morning and set my tactic to aggressive and so far it's paid off, -1 after 2 on the day, +6 and in 57th on the tournament...

Also some bit of news from the website:
Quote:
EasyPar Growth - 9 June 06
Yesterday was a record day for Easypar with just over 56,000 pages viewed. This off course includes refreshes but it gives me a rough idea on busy the website is on any day. Year to date we have had just under 2 million pages viewed and we should pass 1000 registered user in the next few days.
To accomodate the extra users we will be starting a Euro Pro tour next season with average first prizes of around $7,500 and 1 World Ranking Point. This will be the last level of tournament on the European Tour and there will eventually be more than 1 Euro Pro tour event per week creating a flat hierarchy. This will really be a tour for the newer EasyPar players still finding their feet in EasyPar world. Winners of Euro Pro tour events will received Category 9 Status on the European Tour for two season to give them a chance to break into the top ranked events and top 5 finishers will receive Category 11 Status for the current season. The best route to the European Tour will still be through qualifying School at the end of each season where Category 7 status is up for grabs.
We will add PGA Tournaments on the US Tour when the European Tour is over-subscibed on a regular basis which will make the US Q-School a little more relevant. At this point the TOP 50 players in the world will start seeing there status change to Category 0, which means they are eligible to play on any tour in the world.

coincidence that their record day of views came as FOFCers started playing? me think not

okay, got myself back to even par on the day with a birdie on the 4th and pars on the 5th and 6th. Now +7 on the tourney. The cut should happen at about +12, based on the +6 or the first round, so I still have a shot. Now that I've said this, watch me bomb...

me and bbor are yoyoing, him being ahead of me at once, then me leading him, he's now at +8 on the tourney.

I had a dreadful start, was +6 after like 4 holes.. Then I changed tactics and scored a par on just about every following hole.. (except one of course).

Waiting for the second round now..
