Many thanks to my secret santa. The item was actually delivered 5 days ago, but I had thought it was my wife's gift because I was expecting it on that days and I was told 12/17 for the Secret Santa gift. Nothing came on 12/17 and something did today so, thought todays was, but when I opened it, it was my wife's gift so, opened the other one and there it was.. The Star Wars Visual Dictionary which I do not have and it is like Penthouse to a 13 year old boy. (was eyeing it up a few months ago... the book, not porn.)

So, thanks Packerfanatic.

Got my gift today: a Bill James book entitled "Whatever Happened to the Hall of Fame". I'm a bit of a junkie when it comes to baseball books (my bathroom should be renamed the Baseball Library) but haven't read this book yet, so this is an awesome gift. Thanks JP!

You have another gift coming, but don't expect it soon. Baseball Prospectus 2010 should arrive when it's released in late February. Merry Christmas.

Edit: Glad the book worked. You're a hard guy to shop for based solely on internet postings!

I feel like an ass, because I won't be able to mail my present out to the person I'm Secret Santa for until tomorrow. I'll send it priority to try and get it there in time, but no guarantees.

dola,

Many thanks to my Secret Santa. Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is a game I kept looking at again and again, but never pulled the trigger on and it's a good thing I didn't. And it's good to go back to Zelda, which I haven't done since the NES days.

Merry Christmas and sorry my Steelers beat them (especially since I had the Pack defense in fantasy football!).

I think you did great! Just got it -- FM 2010! I've been wanting it for a while, but staying on the fence about actually buying it. Perfect timing also, since I've got some time off for the next week. Thanks EF!

Just got my Secret Santa gift and I am really, really excited! It is a two-sided Purdue flag that will be the centerpiece of either my classroom wall OR my son's room (decisions, decisions!). Anyway, thank you very much Secret Santa! And I really don't have a good guess who it is either, but you did quite well! So I'll guess RendeR?

Glad you liked it. I saw a post where you had mentioned it and then when I saw that I was able to get it for right around our 30 dollar limit I hoped that you hadn't picked it up already. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!!!

Got my present. Thanks for the Lions garden gnome, Santa!!!! My wife wants to put it on our porch in a flower pot!!

I'm trying to figure out who sent it, but I'm having trouble.

To the person I am Secret Santa for: I am very sorry you haven't gotten yours yet. I'm going to try to get it to you by Christmas, but I kind of think it will be next week. Again, I apologize.

It is really sweet. I have a clock that is somewhat similar, but this picture has a few more jerseys, and you can't have too many Packer things

And ugh - that game was ugly. Worst part? I had Big Ben on my bench in my fantasy playoffs. Had I played him, I would have won. I would have never thought he would put up 500 against GB though.

So I was a slacker and didn't get my gift out before my wife gave birth. The past few days have been hectic, but hopefully I'll have a chance to get it sent after she's released from the hospital tomorrow. Sorry in advance to the person I drew...

I know my person already got theirs because he already thanked me on messenger (since he's the person I talk to the most off the board).

LOL!

My wife forgot to get the mail yesterday, sent my son out to get it today and there was the box from my secret santa..

And I couldn't have been happier....

All three books of the Empire Series by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurtz, I have been wanting to get these and every time I go to my bookstore they are gone and our library doesn't have them...

So thank you my secret santa! (I have to guess Mustang on this one)

Sorry for being a slacker about getting back to you about it, the past week and a half has been crazy.

I also want to apologize to the person I drew, I was only today able to get your gift sent out. It should get to you in no later than seven days, but hopefully it'll be less...

Yep, it was me. As I said in the package, I am extremely sorry that it was so late.

I had never seen a key like that. I didn't realize that you copy your house key or whatever on it, so I thought it was stupid. Once my wife made me understand, I thought it was freaking awesome.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked everything.

I finally really dug into The Machine and it's fantastic. Between the characters on the 75 Reds and Posnanski's writing it's one of the best baseball books I've ever read. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Thanks again Scoobz.

Thanks again Scoobz.

You're never sure when you give a gift if somebody truly enjoys it. It's great to hear that you truly did

Do you follow Posnanski's blog, JP?

I don't, but I should.

I was skeptical about the book as I grew up in southern Ohio and knew the Big Red Machine well. I even had a Bench poster on my wall as a kid. I thought the book would be an uninteresting retelling of a story I knew, but I was wrong. Pos has done a great job bringing that team to life and finding forgotten or never heard tales of what went on in the dugout. Simply a great baseball book.

He doesn't constantly pump out top notch articles but this is one recent one that makes me check his site at least once a week:

Joe Posnanski » Blog Archive » A Christmas Story

EDIT:

You may have read his previous book but I really enjoyed this book as well
