110, similar to Vince, I could really crank it out if I didn't have a bad habit of capitalizing the second letter of some words.

RPI, what name are you using?

I thought that I would post better scores at home without the "g" key sticking on my laptop keyboard, but I'm still right on 90 words per minute. Guess I've found my level.

The top score right now is 189

Up to this point, I was wondering if it was possible to score over 160. Guess so.

I bet it wouldn't be hard to write a little app that scraped the text from the screen and then dumped it back in one character at a time.

I think that is why they give you a separate test, with blurred text, when you put up better than 110 wpm.

so is that blurred text like a captcha then? I guess that would make sense.

Well damn, there goes 15 minutes of code...

I'd probably average around 110 if I could get rid of stupid typos like that.
This sort of habit no doubt made worse since Word is so friendly at correcting such mistakes.

I seem to average low 60's, and I'm ok with that.

Yeah, it took me a minute to figure out why I was making so many mistakes (at about a 4 to 1 clip versus when I'm typing in a word processor or something). Then I realized that I'm not making any more mistakes...I just don't have anything automatically correcting those mistakes. If the typing test added a Word auto-correct thing, it'd put my numbers through the roof.

Also, is anyone else supremely annoyed that when you make an error, it highlights the word in red. However, when you backspace enough to make your word "correct" to whatever point you are at, it stays red until you type something else? For example...

"Firefly"

Firegly - Red
Fire - Still Red (even though there are no errors present)
Firef - Green again

I want to use the colors as a visual cue so I can continue looking at the text I'm supposed to be typing, not what I've already typed. Just a pet peeve of mine, I guess.

Yes, this constantly throws me off. I often backspace out the entire word before I realise it wasn't necessary to go that far back.

I do the same, it's easier to start from the beginning than look at what you've typed, look at the text and figure out where the error happened. My 2 brain cells can't process all this info at once... much easier to start from the beginning.

Oh and I'm not a fan of one line at a time, that dropped my typing speed by like 15.

Ya one line at a time is bad, I need those words to stay static for some reason.

k, took the test and passed at 88 wpm and about 98% accuracy. They sorta morphed the text which made it a little difficult to read.

78
78
64
60

Not bad considering I type using only two or maybe four fingers at the most.

I've done close to 20 now and my average is 70. I seem to start off each time poorly and then raise the WPM slowly as the paragraph goes on.

Damn. I haven't typed for speed in ten years, and my first time I got 94 wpm. Second time, 114 wpm, won my race, and got asked to take a test. Typed 125 wpm in the test.

Woo.
