In the Wildcard round:
Indianapolis plays at SD. The Jets play at Buffalo We play at Minnesota (despite having a better record.) SF plays at New Orleans. Minnesota has a better O-Line, but we match up everywhere else favorably. They are 15th in rushing offense. They are 29th in passing offense. They are 12th in points scored. They are 6th in points allowed. They are 7th in rushing defense but 29th in passing defense. Kyle Wright has done well for them in his rookie year with almost 3000 yards and a 17 TD to 9 INT ratio. Wright is still very underdeveloped according to our scouts, so it will be interesting to see what he does in teh future. Chester Taylor has 1372 yards on 346 carries and he is a capable workhourse grinder. Marshawn Lynch is a good #2 back for them. Kelly Herndon is questionable with a groin injury, but we will risk re-injury for this game. We'll rush Willie Anderson back a week early and hope that he doesn't get reinjured. Dawkins will risk re-injury as well. Ditto for Sheldon Brown although he has minimal risk of re-injury of a minor injury from last week. We will work in Willie's backup Marion a bit though. Same for Considine for Dawkins. Brown we need most of the game though.

Time to look at some defensive and offensive coordinators.
I decide to pursue the Bills' Offensive Coordinator. Austin Barnes has a career record of 18-16 in this universe. He is 61. He is good in most areas and is excellent at developing OL. However, 4.9 million is the max we can offer and this might limit us. Meanwhile, we go after a young linebackers coach to be our next DC. He is only 39 and is excellent with linebackers, good with DL, Average with DB's, and very good with young talent. However, our owner will only allow 3.5 million and this might not be enough. A few weeks later, Austin Barnes accepts our job as Offensive Coordinator. At the last possible second Quinn Goodwin accepts our offer as well. Good. I think he will be a big part of our future. We decide to send Brandon Hancock to the summer league so that he can hopefully develop into our starting FB. We franchise LJ Smith with a plan of signing him to a new multi-year deal.

Hmm, the formatting looks good in Notepad, but it doesn't work well when I copy and paste it to the board.
Anyway, we seem to need a better Backup running back. Marcel Shipp will not be re-signed. We also could use a young C to groom. We also need 2 cornerbacks, but I'd prefer to get them through the draft unless there are young good ones available in FA. Other than that, not many needs which is good since we have little cap space and we don't have our 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick in the upcoming draft. |

Time for some renegotiations to generate some cap room and extend deals:
We sign McNabb to a new 3 year deal for 24 million with a 10 million signing bonus. This lowers his cap number by 2 million this year. Same cap number next year and extends his deal a year. We sign LJ Smith to a new 5.5 million dollar 3 year deal. We sign Baskett to a 5 year deal worth just under 15 million. His cap number is reduced a million this year and the highest will be just under 4 million in the last year of the deal. Darn, Trent Cole is upset about the lack of PT and he is unwilling to extend his deal. We sign Dhani Jones to a 4 year extension mainly because he is a mentor and could develop his successor. We sign Considine to a new 2 year deal worth 3 million. That will extend him 1 year, and if her performs, we'll sign him to a much longer deal next year. All of these moves have given us a total of 7 million in cap space to work with. Dwight Freeney is by far the most elite player on the market. He is a 7 year veteran with an 88/88 rating according to my scout. He did have two mild injuries last year. His stats fell off quite a bit with only 5.5 sacks on the year. He wants over 40 million for 4 years. With Trent Cole leaving next year, I decide to take a chance on him. He could be lethal with Howard and Kearse spelling each other on the other side.. I also make minimal offers to Jamal Lewis who is coming off an injury and Phillip Buchanon who is also coming off an injury. |

Jamal immediately signs with us and I think we have picked up a valuable backup HB for little money (under a million for 1 year.)
Dwight Freeney immediately signs a 5 year 70 million dollar deal with New Orleans. Sheesh. Buchanon is considering my 2 year 3 million dollar offer. Buchanon signs our deal next week. Then, we decide to go after a player who will upgrade our run defense even more. Colby Bockwoldt would replace McCoy as the starter at WLB. He is a premiere run stopper as well as a better M2M defender. We offer him 2 years for a total of 2.9 million. We also offer Tyson Walter, a 6th year very good C a 3 year deal for 7 million to have a quality backup in case Mannelly's age gets to him. Colby signs our deal the next week. Dexter Jackson looks like he will be leaving us for Cincinatti barring another team jumping in at the last minute. In week 6, Dexter goes to Cincinatti. In week 7, Tyson declines our larger deal to go to Dallas for 6.8 million over 3 years. I wonder if FA's evaluate the chance to start and factor that into their decision? We decide to hold onto the rest of our cap space for now. Hopefully, we can get a quality C to develop in the 4th round. |

Carolina reached to take Gary Kunz, a good but not great QB with the 1st pick. They passed on what most people think will be a can't miss corner. Surprisingly, that corner doesn't go until 6th. Maybe, my scout was way off.
Atlanta takes the 2nd QB of the draft at #5. Austin Duncan looks like a good solid QB. Washington passes on the 3rd best QB with the 11th pick. Guess they are going to give Campbell more time to develop. Miami gets the 3rd QB with the 15th pick. I guess Culpepper won't be the starter too much longer.. NE continues to add to their receiver core with the 1st receiver overall at the 16th pick. Blaine Stephens looks like a solid WR. We take Victor Askey, a 6'0 corner from Stanford with the 4th round. He is particularly good at M2M coverage. In the 5th round, we take Antonie Smith, a C from Kansas with high potential but he is very raw. In the 6th round, we take Glen Ogden, the best non-kicker left on our board. He has great potential as a short yardage receiving TE who can block a bit. In the final round, we take Juan Murdock a very big WR who has good speed and decent other combine numbers but very low intelligence. We'll see if he can boom. We sign Scottie Abe, a running back who has a knack for hitting the hole on time as an undrafted FA. |

After the draft, we release Jamaal Jackson who just isn't developing to my taste In his place, we sign Dominic Raiola a veteran C from Minnesota to be our main backup with the rookie developing behind them both.
We had tried to sign Jeff Hartings and Mike Wahle to be our backup C's but both went to other teams. We also release Matt Schobel as our draftee looks much better and will ably fill the role of the #3 TE. We also sign Brian Russell from Cleveland to be a backup S. He is a valuable locker room guy as well and might ease the tension between Dawkins and Lewis. |

Post Training Camp Changes:
Jamal Lewis lost quite a bit and is now 45/45. Still a valuable backup RB. Brandon Hancock continues to develop nicely. Mungro will get much less PT this year, and depending upon pre-season performance may not be the starter any longer. Melvin Bryant is developing nicely as a #2 TE. Hank Baskett has lost a little something. Hopefully, it is not a trend. Juan Murdock looks like a terrible player. Guess there is a reason he lasted until the 7th round. He probably won't make the team unless he performs well in the pre-season. It's between him and Bloom for the last receiver roster spot. Patrick Mannelly is losing it. If the rookie doesn't develop, I might need to go get a quality C next year. Willie Anderson is starting to lose his skills, but is still a very good player. Marion Dukes looks a bit worse this year. Levi Brown still seems to be developing into a very good LT. Darren Howard and Kearse are both losing their skills. Trent Cole will stat ahead of Howard, most likely. Trotter is also declining but still a very good MLB. Dhani Jones too a big talent hit (14 points) Colby will start right away at WLB. McCoy will backup on both sides. Sheldon Brown is starting to slip slightly as is Lito Sheppard. There is a chance Phillip Buchanaon will start ahead of Lito who might become the nickel back. Victor Askey looks like a bust for a 4th round pick. We'll see how he does as a dimeback. Dawkins continues to lose a step and Considine will likely be the starter this year. GB offered us a 4th round pick for Sheldon Brown. Easy rejection. The colts offered a 5th for Todd Herremans. Also an easy rejection, but I might choose to upgrade at the spot in upcoming seasons. Time to do the pre-season. I'll do that the same way as before. However, first here is the draft results for posterity:

NE Crushed us 34-7 in the first pre-season game. Jamal Lewis had 12 carries for 43 yards. Sam Kellar was 15 of 35 for 156 yards with an interception.
Jeremy Bloom had 7 catches for 51 yards and might have just saved his job.. Our 2nd pre-season game, we beat the Chiefs 24-17. Jamal Lewis had 21 carries for 82 yards and a TD. Westbrook had 72 yards on just 9 carries. Kellar was 11 of 18 for 73 yards with a TD. Bloom had 4 catches for 46 yards and a TD. Bloom is clearly outperforming my 7th round pick who will be cut. Bunkley had 1.5 sacks in the first game and 2 sacks this game. Rookie Antoine Smith had 2 of 6 Key Run Blocks. Patterson suffered a strained hamstring in the 2nd game resulting in rest for the rest of the pre-season. Our 3rd game, we lost to Denver 10-9. Lewis had 13 carries for 59 yards. Kellar was 4 of 9 for 30 yards. Right after I cut his competition, Bloom had 0 catches Dallas Sartz with a pick this game. Winston Justice with 3 of 3 KRB's. Finally, we lost 6-3 in our final pre-season game. Jamal Lewis had 21 carries for 94 yards. Kellar was 5 of 11 for 39 yards with 2 picks. Colby Bockwoldt had 9 tackles in the game along with 2 sacks! Time for the regular season. |

Unfortunately, Colby needs an emergent Appendectomy and will miss 2-3 weeks.
We start off at Dallas in a big game. Dallas has given up on their young QB's and has turned the reigns over to Brian Griese. He will have an aging in decline Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn to throw to. Julius Jones is in his prime and is a good running back running behind a good line except for their LT who is young and inexperienced. They have an excellent defense with very good players at every single position. Roy Williams is the leader of the team and he is rated 80 according to our scouts. Chris Canty is a dangerous pass rusher and Marcus Spears is a good compliment at the other end. Bobby Carpenter is a very good OLB. We'll try to run the ball well, as McNabb's accuracy seems to be starting to tail off even more according to my scouts (who remember are Poor at QB evaluation.) |

They sack McNabb on our first 3rd down play and we go 3 and out.
We force them into a 3 and out too. Ginn with a nice little 12 yard punt return. McNabb moving us on our next drive with short passes, but they stop us at midfield. We hold them to 3 and out. Looks like this is going to be a defensive battle. Westbrook picks up a minor leg injury late in the 1st. Michael Boley sacks McNabb and forces a fumble which Dallas recovers to kill our next drive. Griese with a long pass to Sam Hurd to get them inside our 3. We stop them on 3 plays ina row, but offsides gives them another chance and they throw a TD pass to Witten. 7-0. Jamal Lewis picks up an injury early in the 2nd. He is done for the day Marcus Spears has another sack against Willie Anderson. But McNabb with a 14 yard pass to Reggie Brown for a 1st to keep the drive alive! McNabb to Westbrook for a 2 yard TD reception! 7-7. Trent Cole is geting good pressure on Griese early, but he still passes it for 16 yards to Witten. Griese with a 47 yard pass to Glenn to get inside our 10. We hold them to 3 yards on the next 3 plays and they settle for a short FG. 10-7. 2:09 left in the half. Stallworth dropped a bomb that was catchable. Halftime: We are down 10-7. Melvin Bryant is hurt on the kickoff to start the half. Griese to Witten for an 18 yard TD to end the drive, but Marco Rivera was hurt on the play. 17-7 Dallas. We can't get past midfield before having to punt. We force 3 and out, thanks to a Dhani Jones sack. They stop us on 3rd and 2 and we punt quickly. We must move the ball on our next drive and score. Griese with a short pass to Glenn who evades two tacklers and takes a 8 yard pass and turns it into a 44 yard TD. 24-7. They are getting tremendous pressure on McNabb with blitzes. McNabb is throwing a lot of inaccurate deep balls. Dallas is up 24-7 at the end of 3. Trotter goes down early in the 4th with an injury. Ginn fumbled a punt return early in the 4th and they recover. 6:26 left, we turn it over on downs when we fail to convert 4th and 5 deep in our zone. Our defense holds and they just get a FG. 27-7. Constant Pressure from the front 7 was the key to Dallas' win today. Blaine McDaniel comes in to get a bit of experience for Dallas. 30-7 win for Dallas. We are going to have Ginn stop returning punts as I think it is causing him to be fatigued and causing Stallworth to play more.
Trotter is out for at least this week with a knee injury. Omar gets his first start. Jamal Lewis has a hip pointer and there is a moderate risk of re-injury, but we are going to take that chance. Melvin Bryant sprained his knee and will have a very limited role next week. Westbrook has a strained Quad, but there is a low risk of reinjury. He will go. Brian Griese was the player of the week for his 14 of 18 passing for 250 yards with 3 TD's against us. Carnell Williams was the leading rusher with 31 carries for 139 yards with a TD. Matt Jones was the leading receiver with 8 catches for 110 yards and 2 TD's. Michael Boley, Dallas, was the defender of the week with 7 tackles, 2 assists, and 3 sacks against us. Our next game is at Cincinatti. They have one of the best QB's in the league with Carson Palmer. Chad Johnson is one of the best WR's and Rudi Johnson is a very good RB. Defensively, their safeties aren't that good. They are starting Dexter Jackson was my 4th Safety. Their front 7 is very good though and their corners are very solid. |

A personal foul kills our first drive and forces us into 3rd and 25, but a personal foul against Cincinatti bails us out!
Our first drive ends with a 1 yard TD run by Jamal Lewis! 7-0. 8:30 length drive that covered 48 yards in the air and 47 on the ground. Rudi Johnson breaks two tackles to convert a 3rd and 7 with a 12 yard run. Just as the quarter expires, Palmer throws it to Anthony Becht for a 1 yard TD. 7-7. They force a 3 and out. Bunkley with a big sack on 3rd and 7 to end their drive. McNabb throws a pass which Madieu Williams intercepts. He returns it to our 42. We stop them on 3rd and 7 from our 10 and they settle for a short FG. 10-7 with 5:24 left in the half. They force a 3 and out. Rudi Johnson starts with a 19 yard run in which he ran over Considine. Palmer to Chad for 14 yards. Palmer to Rudi for 18 yards, but a penalty negates that. Another penalty negates a 34 yard pass to Chad! That allows us to force them to punt a few plays later. LJ smith drops a 3rd down pass that would have been a first and we have to punt. Fortunately, time is almost out. Halftime: 10-7, Cincinatti leads. Chad Johnson keeps catching passes despite us double teaming him. Rudi Johnson with an 8 yard TD run to end a long passing drive. 17-7. Westbrook fumbles on our 7 on the next drive and they recover on the 1. Palmer to Charles Davis, a TE, for a TD. 24-7. McNabb with a 28 yard scramble to start our next drive. Smith fumbles on their 16 yard line and Dexter Jackson recovers for Cincinatti That kills a promising drive. First play FB Jeremi Johnson has a 29 yard run. Our run defense is suffering with Trotter on the bench. Still, we force them to punt around midfield. McNabb to Ginn for a 46 yard bomb! They stop us on 3rd and 10 and we settle for a short FG. 24-10 with 13 minutes left. Defense needs a big play. Cincinatti with a grind it out running drive that just is eating up the yardage. Still, we force them to punt with 7:44 left. We are on our 5. McNab to Ogden for 10 yards. Then to Westbrook for 8. Then a 10 yard run by Westbrook. McNabb to Baskett for a 37 yard gain! McNabb with a 15 yard scramble. Darn. Personal Foul pushes us back. McNabb to Ginn for a 16 yard TD!!! 24-17. 4:33 left. Dhani Jones intercepts a Palmer pass on 3rd down! We are on their 36! Cole with a sack on 1st down. Darn, Another personal foul against us gives them 15 yards. Pass to Chris Henry for 20 more. Pass to Tab Perry for another 15. 3rd and 10 on our 32.. Trent Cole with another huge sack.. he forces a fumble! Kearse gets it! 48 seconds left on our 37.. McNabb to Ginn for 16 yards! McNabb to Ginn for 15 yards! NO! Holding negates it. McNabb to Ginn for 17 yards! We are on the 41 with 8 seconds left. We try a 58 yard FG which is short. Overtime. They kickoff to us. We start on the 37. Westbrook with a 8 yard run. Lewis gets stopped for no gain. Jamal Lewis with a 34 yard run on 3rd and 2! We are on their 21. Lewis with a 4 yard run. Westbrook with a 4 yard run. 1 yard run. Akers with a 29 yard FG to win it!!!! GREAT comeback! Week 2, 2008 played in Cincinnati, OH 55 degrees, fair, 8 mph wind

Brian Griese was the offensive player of the week with 24 of 30 passing for 290 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's.
McNabb had more passing yards than any QB this week. He did it when we were in catchup mode and had to pass intermediate and deep more. I'm going to give him a bit more free reign next week. Rudi Johnson led all backs with 26 carries for 160 yards and a TD. Willie Parker, Pitt, had 33 carries for 148 yards with 3 TD's. Chris Chambers had 5 catches for 152 yards with 2 TD's. Kyle Vanden Bosch, DE Ten, had 4 tackles and 3 sacks to win defender of the week. Next up, we host Chicago. They are 2-0. Their run game is avering 147 YPG which is 4th. Cedric Benson and rookie Brant Eleazer (taken 13th overall this year) are each averaging about 75 YPG. The Passing attack is 27th in yardage, but Kyle Orton is taking care of the ball. He has completed 29 of 45 passes for 316 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's. Defensively, they are allowing only 61 YPG game on the ground which is 3rd ebst. They are allowing 225 YPG in the air which is 19th. They have generated 5 turnovers and are plus 4 in turnover margin. The scouting report indicates their line is very good. Their receivers are good and their back is very good, but Orton is just barely acceptable. Tommie Harris is the key to their defensive line, but their ends are quite good. Urlacher is a great MLB. All of their secondary are very good except for FS Danieal Manning who is just ok. Mike Brown their normal FS is out with an injury. Melvin Bryant and Trotter will both miss this one more game. |

End of 1: 0-0, but we are driving inside their 20.
McNabb to Westbrook for an 8 yard TD pass! 7-0. On our next drive, Lewis breaks two tackles to run it 11 yards on 1st and 10 from our own 9. Unfortunately, a penalty pushes us into 3rd and 20, and we can't convert. We force another 3 and out. We gets stopped on their 21 and settle for a 38 yard FG. 10-0. 2 minutes left. We stop them and force a punt with 40 seconds left. On our own 40. McNabb to Ginn for 18. McNabb to Hancock for 11 yards! McNabb to Hancock for another 7, but time runs out before we can get a timeout. Halftime: 10-0 lead for us. We've only given up 13 passing yards! McNabb is 18 of 21 for 146 yards at the half. Orton with a long pass to Jason Hill to open up their 1st drive of the 2nd half. At the end of the drive, Orton with a 16 yard TD pass to Greg Olsen to make it a ball game. 10-7 McNabb with a 22 yard scramble to start this drive. We end the drive with a missed 48 yard FG attempt. End of 3: 10-7 lead with Chicago driving inside our 20. We stop them and they kick a 28 yard FG. 10-10. Great kick return to start at our 47. Illegal Motion negates a long pass and pushes us into 3rd and 15. We end up punting. Benson fumbles when Kearse tackles him. Considine recovers it on their 8! 3 plays later Westbrook runs it in from the 3! 17-10. 11:34 left in the game. We force a 3 and out. McNabb to Baskett for 18 yards to convert 3rd and 11.. no holding calls it back. We can't convert 3rd and 21 and we punt. Their backs with a few big screen play gains to get them inside our 20. But we stop them on 3rd and 6. They kick the FG. 17-13 with 2:55 left. On 3rd and 6, they stop us. We punt. They used all 3 timeouts. They get it on their 6 with 2:08 left. Sean Considine intercepts it on our 45. He returns it to their 33. We run out the clock. Game over. 17-13 win. Week 3, 2008 played in Philadelphia, PA 46 degrees, fair, 2 mph wind

Marc Bulger, Rams, was the offensive player of the week with 26 of 35 passing for 336 yards for 4 TD's 1 INT.
Jay Cutler, Den, had 349 yards with 3 TD's 2 INT's. Willis McGahee had 25 carries for 157 yards and a TD. Troy Williamson, Minn, had 4 catches for 151 yards and a TD. Clark Haggans, OLB Pitt, had 6 tackles, 2 assists, and 3 sacks to win defensive player of the week. Many of my players are now 100%: Trotter, Westbrook, Colby Bockwoldt, Matt Mccoy, Winston Justice, Melvin Bryant, and Mike Patterson. We have a bye this week, so guys are going to get even more healthy. |

Matt Hasselbeck was the offensive player of the week. He completed 19 of 23 for 294 yards with 4 TD's.
Kellen Clemens is starting for the Jets and he had 253 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT this week. Laurence Maroney had 30 carries for 201 yards with a TD. Hines Ward had 9 catches for 150 yards and a TD. Will Witherspoon, ILB Buf, had 12 tackles, 3 assists, and 2.5 sacks to win defensive player of the week. All of my guys are 100% except for Jamal who still has a hip pointer, and my 2 IR'd guys (Runyan and Moats whose contracts both expire this year.) Next up, we play at Seattle. Seattle is 1-3. Shaun Alexander is slowing down and starting to show his age. As a result, their run game is 18th. Alexander has 78 carries for 302 yards with 0 TD's. Their passing offense is 23rd as Hasselbeck has had mostly modest games. He has completed 70 of 135 passes for 780 yards with 6 TD's 3 INT's. Deion Branch is their #1 receiver and he only has 14 catches for 144 yards. Their turnover margin is plus 2. Defensively, they are 22nd against the run and are giving up 129 YPG. Their pass defense is 16th and is giving up 213 YPG. The scouting report indicates their FS is a weak defender. Their top two FS's are both injured. Instead, Eric Smith is starting and we can hopefully victimize him. Their LCB Kelly Jennings is also a weak link. Their linebacking corp is weak except for Julian Peterson. I expect McNabb to have a big day against this secondary if he can stay away from Marcus Trufant. |

Melvin Bryant fumbles on our 2nd drive, but Hancock recovers it.
A few plays later, McNabb throws a short TD pass to Ginn! 7-0. We force a 3 and out and get it right back. Westbrook starts off the drive with a 25 yard run. McNabb throws a pick to Trufant in the endzone. He was targeting Ginn. End of 1: 7-0 lead for us. Hasselbeck with a long pass to Jarrett Hicks for a TD. 7-7 very early in the 2nd. McNabb responds with a 22 yard pass to Baskett. McNabb to Reggie Brown for a 5 yard TD to end a drive that was mostly via the pass. 14-7. Trotter with a big sack on 3rd down to force a 3 and out. Westbrook ends our next drive with a 2 yard TD. 21-7. Westbrook had a few big runs on that drive. 2 minutes left in the half. They drive into FG range and make a 37 yard FG towards the end of the half. 21-10. They make it 21-17 in the 3rd. Trent Cole with a big sack to end their first drive of the 4th. McNabb with a bomb to Melvin Bryant!?! WOO! 45 yard gain. Next 3 passes are incomplete. Akers misses a 46 yard FG. 21-17 with 10 minutes left. We force a 3 and out, but they pin us inside the 2. McNabb to Stallworth for 11 to get us some room. However, a penalty forces us into 3rd and 22 which we can't convert. They are on their 28 with 6 minutes left. Hasselbeck with a 21 yard pass to Jarrett Hicks to get them past midfield. They try a 50 yard FG but a bad snap costs them that kick. 2:56 left we have to run out the clock. They force a 3 and out. They get it on their 22 with 2:19 to go. Cole gets heavy pressure on Hasselbeck on the 1st play. Michael Lewis intercepts a bomb on our 30! Westbrook with a 11 yard run. 1:40 to go. Westbrook runs for another 1st down. McNabb just takes a knee. Ball game. 21-17 win for us. Week 5, 2008 played in Seattle, WA 53 degrees, fair, 8 mph wind

Ronnie Brown had 24 carries for 142 yards and a TD. Westbrook was 2nd. Sinorice Moss, Giants, had 8 catches for 151 yards. Based on research by a few different people as well as my own quick research, I'm going to go up to 200 injury setting for this league effective immediately.
Next up, we host the Cardinals. They are 1-4 after a few good years. However, Matt Leinart has been replaced at QB by Culpepper and it isn't working that well (despite Culpepper having some nice stats.) The running game is 27th in the league and features Travis Henry and Arrington. The passing game is 12th with Culpepper having completed 88 of 158 passes for 1050 yards with 5 TD's 1 INT. Leinart is very unhappy that he isn't starting yet. They are plus 1 in turnover margin. Defensively, they are 6th against the run and are giving up only 90 YPG. However, they are 23rd against the pass with 237 YPG being given up. Adrian Wilson leads them with 2 interceptions. He is the strength of the secondary, but the FS Mickey Terramagra is a liability for them. Antrel Rolle is good at LCB but Matt Ware is a liability at RCB. Their MLB, Darnell Wilkerson isn't very good either. Offensively, Culpepper is in the twilight of his career as is Travis Henry. Their wide receiving core is very dangerous with Fitzgerald being a star. Their offensive line is good except for their LT who is a backup starting today. We should be able to beat Cole Burks for some sacks. |

11 play drive for us that covers 81 yards and ends with a 12 yard Westbrook TD run. McNabb was 5 of 5 for 46 yards on the drive.
We stop them early before they get to the 40. McNabb fumbles on 2nd down but Max with a big recovery. Still we end up punting 2 plays later. End of 1: 7-0, we lead and are driving into their half. Jamal Lewis with a 12 yard run on this drive as a big play. 2 plays later McNabb to Melvin Bryant for a 7 yard TD! 14-0. We stop them just outside our 40 and they punt. MCNabb to Ginn for a 46 yard bomb! NO! Offensive Holding Negates it. But, we make those 20 yards up in 2 plays to get a first with a pass to Baskett and Smith. However, they stop us on 3rd and 1. 4:25 left, we punt. WE stop them on our 44 and they have to punt with 2:40 left. Westbrook with a 30 yard run. Marion Dukes had a big block to spring him. Akers connects on a 57 yard FG with 30 seconds left (we were in 4th and 6.) 17-0. Halftime: Up 17-0. Early in the 3rd, McNabb scrambles for a TD! 24-0. They make it 24-3 midway through the 3rd. Hancock with a nice 4 yard reception to convert 3rd and 2. But we get stopped a few plays later. Trent Cole with a sack and forced fumble on their next drive (but they recover it.) End of 3: 24-3 lead. Arizona ball on their own 22. Cole is getting tremendous pressure on the QB. If he keeps this up, I'll franchise him if he won't extend. Willie Anderson gave up a big sack to force a 4th down. Both defenses are taking over now, as we are just trying to run the clock. Leinart comes in late in the 4th. He is 2 of 8 so far as we are getting tremendous pressure (particularly Trent Cole.) Game over. 27-3 win for us. Week 6, 2008 played in Philadelphia, PA 71 degrees, fair, 5 mph wind

Jamal Lewis is finally 100%
Unfortuantely, Lito Sheppard suffered a strained abductor muscle and is out for a few weeks (possibly up to 5 or 6.) McCoy suffered a bruised sternum that will have him at less than 100% for many weeks, but there is no chance of re-injury so he will continue to play. Omar Gaither suffered a strained triceps. He has low chance of reinjury and will continue to play as Trotter's backup. Victor Askey, our rookie, is going to have to step up as the primary backup and nickelback since Lito is out. I don't think he is ready. Brian Griese, DAL, was the player of the week again with 22 of 29 passing for 357 yards with 3 TD's 0 INT's. Ronnie Brown had 32 carries for 149 yards. Westbrook was 3rd with his 135 yards. Terrell Owens led all receivers with 11 catches for 181 yards and a TD. Daniel Bullocks, S Detroit, was the defensive player of the week with 5 tackles, 2 assists, 3 passes defensed, and 2 interceptions. Next up, we host the 1-5 Redskins. They are struggling as Clinton Portis is finally starting to slow down. He still has 115 carries for 471 yards and 3 TD's, but he is no longer superhuman. Their passing attack is 28th as Jason Campbell is still learning. He is 102 of 196 for 995 yards with 5 TD's and 6 INT's. Brandon Lloyd is their main receiver with Breaston clearly lagging behind Ginn in development. Their run defense is 24th and their pass defense is 22nd. They are -5 in turnover margin which is 26th. |

Campbell to Breaston for 26 yards to start their drive. After they kick a FG, McNabb leads us down the field again for another TD ending with a 3 yard TD pass to Reggie Brown. 14-3. McNabb is 10 of 10 for 99 yards so far. End of 1: 14-3, we lead. We are driving into their half. McNabb remains perfect and the 3rd drive ends with a 17 yard TD pass to Ginn! 21-3. McNabb is 14 of 14 for 143 yards with 3 TD's so far. Dawkins blocks their punt and we get it on the 17. McNabb throws his first incompletion on the 1st play of this drive. A short FG makes it 24-3. 10 minutes left in the half. Stallworth fumbles a punt return and they recover to get a short field - on our 21. Dawkins picks up a minor injury on this drive. 24-6 after they kick the short FG. Jamal fumbles the ball away on our next drive. Campbell hits Santana Moss for 25 yards on the 1st play to get inside our 20. Campbell to T.J. Houshmanzadah for a 16 yard TD. 24-13. 3:19 left in the half. Akers misses a 55 yard FG with 1:03 left. Campbell to Cooley for a 45 yard gain! We stop them for minimal gain on the next 3 plays. They kick a short FG to make it 24-16. 12 seconds left in the half. Halftime: 24-16 lead. McNabb is 18 of 23 for 182 yards with 3 TD's so far. 24-23 as Campbell shreds our defense and leads them right down the field. He already has 300 yards! We go 3 and out. 7:45 left and Washington has the momentum. Trent Cole with a big sack to push them into 2nd and 17 on their next drive. That leads to a punt a few plays later. Start of the 4th: 24-23 we lead. A penalty for a chop block kills our drive just as the quarter ends. Least the punt pins them at the 7. Cole starting to get a lot of pressure on Campbell. However, he hits Breaston for a 17 yard gain on 2nd and 17. Ouch. Portis with a 66 yard run. We stop them on the 2 yard line. They kick a short FG. 26-24, they lead. 9:45 left. McNabb to Ginn for 17 yards. Then, he scrambles for 12. 2 plays later, he throws an intermediate pass to Baskett but Baskett fakes out a defender and goes 33 yards for a TD!!! 31-26. Dawkins suffered a strained hamstring and is questionable, but there is a high risk of re-injury. I'll sit him for at least a week.
Victor Askey broke his toe but he should be able to play through it. Todd Herremans also broke his toe and can play through it. Donovan McNabb won offensive player of the week! Roethlisberger threw for over 400 yards but also had 2 picks. Reggie Bush led all backs with 25 carries for 152 yards and 2 TD's. He looks like a great back now according to our scouts. He is spliting carries with Deuce to an extent but he has 176 carries for 676 yards and 7 TD's on the year. He also has 18 catches for 178 yards and 2 TD's. He is also averaging 12.2 yards on punt returns. Brady Quinn is now starting for Detroit. He also started the last 5 games of last year. So far, this year he has completed 84 of 136 passes for 954 yards with 5 TD's and 1 INT. He doesn't have any 300 yard games yet. Hines Ward had 14 catches for 248 yards and 3 TD's for Pittsburgh! Robert Geathers, DE Cin, had 6 tackles and 3.5 sacks to win defensive player of the week. Trent Cole is no longer upset at us, now that he is starting regularly. Furthermore, he is willing to sign a very reasonable extension. We sign him to a 3 year 5.5 million dollar deal. Next up, we play at the Giants who are now 4-2. They are 23 in rushing with 1st round rookie Jose Bell being their main back. He looks like a decent back who will never be great. He has 76 carries for 336 yards with 5 TD's so far. They are 5th in passing. Eli has completed 124 of 206 for 1498 yards with 12 TD's 4 INT's. Defensively, they are 16th against the run. They are 31st against the pass. They are relying on one or two guys to get all of the pressure on the QB - specifically Osi Umenyiora and Mathias Kiwanuka. If we can keep them off McNabb, we should be able to torch their secondary. Terrence McGee and Shawn Lyons don't look like very good corners at all at this point in their career. However, their front 7 is very solid. |

2 long passes by Manning to Burress and Moss quickly moves them down the field.
Manning to Moss for a 5 yard TD to end the 3 pass drive! 7-0. Osi gets a sack around midfield to try to stop our drive. Osi with a hurry on 3rd down ends our drive. We punt and pin them on the 1. Considine has picked up an injury, but should be able to play. A face mask helps them where they had failed to complete a 3rd down pass. Trotter intercepts it on their 48.. he returns it 48 yards for a TD!!!! 7-7. Trotter with a sack on 2nd down on their next drive. We force a 3 and out. McNabb with a 10 yard scramble to convert 3rd and 10. End of 1: 7-7, but we are inside their 20. Next play, McNabb to Stallworth for a 17 yard TD!!! 14-7. Colby intercepts a Manning pass ealry in this next drive! They stop us just before their 25. 44 yard FG. 17-7. Sheldon Brown with a minor shoulder injury. Eli Manning picks up a minor injury. Anthony Wright comes into the game. After many runs by Jose Bell, Wright thorws it to Plaxico for a 31 yard TD. 17-14. Max Jean-Gilles goes down with an injury. Lavar Arrington sacks McNabb on the 30 and forces a fumble, but McNabb recovers. Still that forces us into 3rd and 15 and we only get 14 yards. Short FG to make it 20-14. Trent Cole with a sack to open up the drive. Trent Cole with an incredible move to force an intentional grounding. That ends that drive. Halftime: 20-14, we lead. Ouch. Westbrook with a minor hamstring injury. A Holding call kills our drive, but our young punter pins them inside the 5. Anthony Wright is still in the game for the injury Eli. Considine forces a Jose Bell fumble. Trent Cole recovers it! 2 plays later McNabb to Baskett for a 18 yard TD! 27-14. Crud. Brian Hancock suffers a very severe ankle injury late in the 3rd. Glad, I didn't trade away Mungro yet. End of 3: We are up 27-14. They have the ball at midfield, but we are mostly shutting down Anthony Wright. Cole with another big play on 3rd down to hurry a bad throw. Westbrook with a 23 yard run on our fist play of the next drive, but we get stopped short of midfield. Game over. We became very conservative in the 4th while Anthony Wright just couldn't consistently move them. 27-14 win for us. Meanwhile, Dallas lost to the Rams 34-10! That means we take over sole possession of the NFC East Lead! Week 8, 2008 played in New York, NY 68 degrees, rain, 11 mph wind

Brandon Hancock needs surgery on his ankle and will miss the rest of the year.
Max Jean-Gilles has a pulled calf and will miss 4-6 weeks. Dawkins will miss another week due to his strained hamstring. Westbrook will miss next week due to his strained hamstring which has a high risk of reinjury. Trent Cole has a sprained knee but will attempt to play through it. Considine has shoulder tendinitis but should be able to play through it. Marion Dukes has a knee contusion which he can play through. We sign Paul Smith to be our backup FB and we put Hancock on IR. Tom Brady threw for 466 yards but he had 2 picks. Steve McNair won Offensive Player of the Week with 31 of 36 passing for 354 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's. LenDale White, Tenn, had 33 carries for 127 yards and 2 TD's to lead all backs. Brenden Bernstein, a rather unremarkable rookie (who is with NE) according to my scouts (except for exceptional avoid drops) led all receivers with 9 catches for 160 yards and a TD. Tamba Hall, DE KC, won defensive player of the week with 4 tackles and 3 sacks. |

Our next game is at St. Louis. They are 5-2 and we are missing several of our stars with Westbrook being most notable.
The Rams are missing their starting RCB and will be going with Jason Dennis a young player who isn't that talented. Jerome Carter and Jarrod Cooper aren't very good in the secondary either. The defensive line has good DE's in Leonard Little and Tony Hargrove but La'Roi Glover and James Reed are not very good in the middle anymore. Offensively, they have a powerful lineup. Steven Jackson is one of the best backs in the league. Bulger is a good quarterback and Sidney Rice has developed into a very good receiver. Torry Holt is starting to diminish in talent, but is still a very good #2 recevier. Their offensive line is excellent with star RT Alex Barron really shining. Surprisingly, they are only 15th in rushing offense but they are 3rd in passing offense. They are plus 8 in turnover margin as Bulger has only thrown 3 picks all year. They are 1st in points scored at 35.6 PPG. Defensively, they are 14th against the run and 26th against the pass but 6th in passing completion allowed. They are 18th allowed in PPG at 20.7. Hopefully, we can hold them down and stay close and eek out a win.

Jamal Lewis suffers a minor knee injury on the 1st play of the game.
Lewis with a nice 17 yard run on our first drive. Another key play is a 24 yard pass to Ginn to convert 3rd and 19! Lewis ends the drive with a 10 yard TD run! 7-0. McNabb was 3 of 3 for 39 yards on the drive. Bulger to Holt for 23 yards to start their drive. Bulger to Sean Bailey with several big plays including a 14 yard TD pass. 7-7. Bulger was 4 of 4 for 68 yards on the drive. They force a 3 and out on the next drive. Bulger to Holt for 26 yards to convert 3rd and 12. Next play is a 20 yard pass from Bulger to Holt. We stop him at our 31, but they kick the 48 yard FG. 10-7. Reggie Brown fumbles the kickoff return and they recover it. End of 1: 10-7, Rams are up and driving inside our 20. Bulger to Holt for a 10 yard TD. 17-7. We exchange several failed drives, and then McNabb fails to convert 4th and 2 on their 37. They kick a short FG just before halftime to make it 20-7. End of the Half: They are up 20-7. We force a 3 and out to start the second half. McNabb ends our first drive of the 2nd half with a 19 yard TD pass to Ginn! 20-14. We force a 3 and out. An Illegal Forward pass ends our drive at midfield. Sheldon Brown with an interception on our 15 to end a long drive. End of 3: 20-14, St. Louis leads, but we are driving down the field. McNabb ends our next drive with a 1 yard TD pass to Stallworth. 21-20. 8:11 left. Bulger starts with a 34 yard pass to Jackson. Then, a 29 yard pass to Kevin Curtis. They gets them inside the 10, but we stop them on the next 3 plays. They kick a short FG. 23-21. 4:50 left. Stallworth drops a key 3rd down pass and we end up punting with 2 minutes left. They convert on 3rd and 2 and get a 1st which is going to kill the clock. Game over. 23-21 win for the Rams. Week 9, 2008 played in St. Louis, MO 68 degrees, fair, calm

Dawkins will miss another week due to his hamstring as will Westbrook.
Trent Cole will continue to play through his injury, so will Victor Askey. Jamal Lewis will play through knee tendinitis. Aaron Rodgers was the offensive player of the week. He completed 21 of 25 passes for 414 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's. Phillip Rivers had 350 yards. Vince Young had 280 yards. Willis McGahee led all backs with 29 carries for 160 yards and a TD. Donald Driver had 9 receptions for 256 yards with 2 TD's for GB. DeMarcus Ware, Dal, had 6 tackles, 2 assists, and 4 sacks to win defensive player of the week. Next up we host SF. Alex Smith has become a very good starting QB. Frank Gore is a decent RB and their receiving options are all excellent with Taylor Jacobs and Antonio Bryant forming a dynamic duo. Vernon Davis is one of the best TE's in the league. Their offensive line is the weakpoint of the team. The defense mainly relies on their excellent linebacking corp (they are playing a 3-4) which is led by SLB Manny Lawson. They are 4-4. Their pass offense is 13th. Alex Smith is 157 of 235 for 1769 yards with 11 TD's 4 INT's. Their running game is 16th. Frank Gore has 89 carries for 339 yards. They are 19th in points scored per game with 19. Defensively, they are 24th against the run. They are 14th against the pass. They are giving up 22.5 PPG which is 25th. Their -6 turnover margin is one of the worst in the league. Before I start the game, here is a look at the standings: |

They start off with the ball.
Considine intercepts Smith's first pass and returns it 30 plus yards to their 22! McNabb ends the short drive with a 6 yard TD pass.. no it is called back.. He throws a 16 yard TD pass to Baskett on the next play! 7-0. Sean Considine goes down with a minor hamstring injury on the next drive. Hopefully, this doesn't become serious. We stop them just outside the 15. They kick a short FG to make it 7-3. Jamal Lewis fails to convert a 3rd and 2 and we have to punt. Both defenses taking over now. Smith with a 59 yard pass to Moorehead in which Moorehead had 40 yards after the catch. Michael Lewis picked up a minor injury on that drive. 10-7, SF leads early in the 2nd. Manny Lawson with a huge sack to end our next drive. Buchanon intercepts it on their 21 on the firs tplay of the drive! McNabb ends the short drive with a 7 yard TD pass to Stallworth. 14-10. They miss a 47 yard FG on their next drive. Scottie Abe, our rookie, has a nice 32 yard run thanks a hole that Willie Anderson made. Ginn with a nice 21 yard TD on the next play! 21-10. We get the ball back with about 2 minutes left in their half. We kick a short FG to make it 24-10 as the half is ending. Midway through the 3rd, we end a long drive with a 3 yard TD run by Jamal Lewis. 31-10. End of 3: 31-10, we lead and are driving. Jamal Lewis exacerbates an injury early in the 4th. Scottie Abe with some nice runs. The big rookie is impressing this game. Akers hits a 51 yard FG midway through the 4th to make it 34-10. We pick off their backup QB. 34-10 win for us. Quite a few guys are now 100%: C Dominic Raiola, DT Mike Patterson, MLB Omar Gaither, and CB Victor Askey.
Unfortunately, Kearse is suffering from knee tendinitis. Michael Lewis broke his nose. Jamal lewis is still suffering with tendinitis. They should be able to play fine. Sean Considine suffered a strained hamstring. There is a high risk if we play him.. but our secondary will be hurting if we don't play him or Dawkins (who is still suffering from a strained hamstring.) Westbrook will miss this game with his strained hamstring. I'm going to rest Considine and take a chance with Brian Dawkins. Tom Brady was the offensive player of the week. He completed 31 of 40 passes for 381 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's. Carnell Williams led all backs with 32 carries for 136 yards and a TD. Andre Johnson led all receivers with 7 catches for 175 yards and a TD. Cornelius Griffin, DT Wash, was the defensive player of the week with 5 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Next up, we host Dallas. They are now 5-4. Brian Griese is a steady QB who is questionable for this game with an injury. Julius Jones is a solid running back. Jason Witten is a top flight TE. Glenn and Owens are on the downside of their career. Their offensive line is good except for C Drew Hodgdon who has not played well. Their defense is very solid, but Marcus Spears and Demarcus Ware are both questionable with injuries. Spears didn't play last week and if he doesn't play this week, Joe Monty is a weak backup. Roy Williams is questionable as well and if he doesn't play, their safeties aren't very good. |

Their first drive, Bunkley and Cole make big plays to get pressure on Griese and end their 1st drive at midfield.
On 3rd and 10 on their 30, they hold us to 8 yards and we settle for a FG. 3-0. McNabb was 4 of 4 for 39 yards on the drive. Dallas with a long methodical drive.. End of 1: 3-0, we lead, but Dallas is on our 10. Next play, Julius Jones with a 10 yard TD run. 7-3. McNabb drives us down the field but they stop us just outside the 30. 50 yard FG to make it 7-6. Nice kick by Akers. Michael Lewis intercepts a long Griese pass! Griese goes down with an injury on the play. Jamal Lewis with a 10 yard run on 3rd and 10 with a full out blitz to convert 3rd and 10 on their 46. We get just inside their 30, and they stop us, but we go for it and convert on 4th and 2 with a 14 yard pass to Reggie Brown. Next play is a 14 yard TD run by Jamal Lewis! 13-7. 1:40 left in the half. Blaine McDaniel now in for the Cowboys. We force a 3 and out. On our 37 with 59 seconds left. Halftime: 13-7, we lead. We start on our own 27. MCNabb with a 47 yard bomb to backup TE Melvin Bryant (who is becoming quite the receiving TE.) A few plays later they stop us a yard short on 3rd and goal from the 3. We settle for a 18 yard FG. 16-7. Owens drops a 3rd down pass and they have to punt. McNabb with a 18 yard scramble to get into their half. Ginn catches a short pass, evades two defenders, and makes it an 18 yard play. We end up getting stopped just inside the 5. Short FG to make it 19-7 but our young backup C Antoine Smith is injured on the play. Our defense is playing well and they quickly force a punt. McNabb fumbles on a scramble and they recover on their 44. End of 3: 19-7, we lead. They are on our 32 and driving. Trent Cole with a 14 yard sack and forced fumble! Darwin Walker recovers. They force a punt. Dawkins intercepts the first pass of this drive on their 30, he returns it 30 yards for a TD!!! 26-7. Trent Cole with a 8 yard sack on 3rd down to end their next drive. We kick a FG to make it 29-7 with just under 6 minutes left. Brian Russell our primary backup S with Considine on the bench intercepts a deep pass. 32-7 after a FG on the drive. Game over. 32-7 win. Dawkins, Kearse, Jamal Lewis, Lito Sheppard, and Michael Lewis are all now 100%. Our secondary just became much more formidable.
Unfortunately, Westbrook and Considine are both still out with their strained hamstring. I'm not willing to risk the high chance of reinjury. Trent Cole will continue to work through his sprained knee, especially if he plays like that even hurt. Antoine Smith will work through his sprained knee as well. Peyton Manning was the offensive player of the week. He completed 22 of 25 passes for 303 yards with 5 TD's 0 INT's. Troy Smith is starting for Denver now. He completed 25 of 39 for 275 yards with 2 TD's 0 INT's this week. That was his first start. He also came in as relief in 2 earlier games this year. He is starting because Jay Cutler broke his clavicle and he will miss 7 weeks approximately. Cutler is rated 57/65 by our scouts. My scout still thinks Troy Smith is going to be a relative bust with an overall potential of 53. Chester Taylor led all backs with 20 carries for 141 yards and 3 TD's. Justin Gage had 6 catches for 180 yards and a TD for the Jets. Erasmus James, DE Minn, had 9 tackles and 2.5 sacks to win defensive player of the week. |

Our next game is hosting Cleveland. Cleveland is currently 3-7. Their running game is 32nd in the league and Reuben Droughns is the leading rusher with 127 carries for 447 yards and 3 TD's. Their passing game isn't much better at 25th. Charlie Frye just hasn't been a very good QB, yet he continues to be their starter. They are only managing 13 ppg which is 30th in the league.
Defensively, things aren't much better. Their run defense is 26th and their passing defense is 25th. They have a -4 turnover margin. They are giving up 21.5 PPG which is 19th. Braylon Edwards is a top tier WR but he only has 42 catches on the year. Defensively, DE Kamerion Wimbley is their only star however Andra Davis and D'Qwell Jackson are solid LB's. Tory James is the best player in a shaky secondary. |

We methodically drive down the field to get inside the 20, but they stop us there. We settle for a 36 yard FG. 3-0.
We stop them on their own 20 with great blitzing pressure. McNabb to Stallworth on a long pass of 32 yards. Then to Bryant for 10 yards. Next play is a 11 yard TD pass to LJ Smith! 10-0. We force a 3 and out. Colby making some great plays at LB for us. Scottie Abe with a 43 yard run! He is looking MUCH better than our scouts thought. I liked his size. Next play is a 9 yard TD pass to Baskett! 17-0. End of 1: 17-0 lead, we could make this ugly quickly. A 21 yard FG with 3:46 left in the 2nd makes it 20-0. Crap. Patrick Mannelly goes down with an injury. Not something I wanted in a blowout. At halftime, we are up 20-0. McNabb has completed 17 of 21 passes for 194 yards. We've only given up 60 yards total. Our 2nd drive of the 3rd quarter is a balanced drive that ends with a 6 yard scramble TD by McNabb. 27-0. End of 3: We are up 27-3 and in complete control of the game. Cleveland with a meaningless TD late in the 4th. 30-10 now. Akers has missed a few, but he nails a 54 yard FG to make it 33-10 with 1:43 left. Game over. 33-10 win for us. I've just upgraded to 6.0d.
Westbrook is now 100% and will start again. The interesting question is who should get to be the primary backup. I think I'll stick with Jamal, but Scottie Abe has impressed me. Considine is still out with his hamstring injury. Patrick Mannelly is out with a strained elbow and will miss at least 2 weeks. Winston Justice has a sprained knee, but will try to play through it. McCoy, Antoine Smith, Dhani Jones, Trent Cole will all play through their minor injuries. Moats, Hancock, and Runyan are still out for the season. Brady Quinn was the offensive player of the week for Detroit. He completed 25 of 29 passes for 300 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's. Chestor Taylor led all backs with 31 carries for 146 yards. Deion Branch, Seattle, had 6 catches for 175 yards and a TD. Samari Rolle, Baltimore, was the defensive player of the week with 2 tackles, 2 assists, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 2 passes defensed. |

We are now 9-2.
Minnesota is 10-1 in the NFC North. St. Louis is 9-2 in the West. We are the only 3 teams in the running for the #1 seed at this point. 2 or 3 more wins should cinch the Division Title for us. The Giants are 7-4 and in second place. Next up, we travel to play the 2-8-1 Carolina Panthers. Jake is an excellent QB and Steve Smith is a great WR, but with the exception of their LT Jordan Gross, the offensive line has become pathetic. Defensively, they have lost some of their strength. Joseph Hudson is a below average DT. Their #2 CB is out and they are starting Demarcus Faggins who isn't a very good defender. Sedrick Ware is a weakness at FS as well. Their running attack is 25th as they have lost their best RB's to FA. Their passing attack is 21st mainly due to the problems with the offensive line, I think. Defensively, they are 26th against the run and 20th against the pass. They have a plus 3 turnover margin. Steve Smith only has 36 catches for 533 yards and he has to be frustrated. |

They stop us 2 yards short on 3rd and 4, and we go 3 and out.
They fumble on their first carry and we recover. They stop us on 3 straight plays and Akers misses a 46 yard FG. After a defensive battle most of the 1st quarter, McNabb leads us right down the field ending in a 15 yard TD pass to Stallworth. 7-0. End of 1: We are up 7-0. They respond to our drive, by methodically working the ball down the field to get inside our 20. However, Trent Cole got tremendous pressure on 2nd down and Colby got a sack on 3rd down to force a FG. 7-3. Defenses are taking over in the 2nd quarter again. Akers misses a 49 yard FG attempt at the end of the half. Halftime: We are up 7-3. We are moving the ball well, but failing to finish drives. We've only given up 99 yards at the half to them. McNabb with a 35 yard pass to Westbrook to open up the 3rd quarter. 2 plays later Jamal Lewis with a 7 yard TD run! 14-3. Dawkins has playing brilliant pass defense this game. We force another 3 and out. Ginn gets his first completion in the 3rd for 17 yards. They stop us just inside the 20. Akers misses yet another FG. This time from 40 yards. Very bad day for him. Midway through the 3rd, Westbrook goes over 100 yards on his 20th carry of the game. Dan Morgan blocks a 53 yard FG attempt. That gives them great field position. End of 3: We are up 14-3, but they are driving inside our 25. We stop them just inside the 20, but they kick a short FG. 14-6. 13 minutes left. Julius Peppers with a big sack and forced fumble, but McNabb recovers it. Still that forces a punt. Our punter kicks it 60 yards and pins them inside the 5! Westbrook fumbles the ball on a reception on our 8. They recover and get a very short field on the 1 yard line! We stop them on 3 straight runs!!!!!! They kick a 18 yard FG. 14-9. They force a 3 and out. We punt. They have it on their 22. 2:06 left. Dhani Jones blocks the first pass. A pass to Steve Smith (despite almost constant double teaming.) 3rd and 3: Incomplete pass. 4th and 3: 4 yard pass to Steve Smith. 1:12 left, on their on 33. Dawkins defends the next pass. Jake overthrows Smith. Then he underthrows Mike Williams. 4th and 10: Trent Cole with a hurry and Jake throws a bad ball. We just take a few knees. Game over. 14-9 win.
