Colgate 48, (at) Chicago State 47 Well, we move to 4-3 on the season by winning this one, but a 1 point win over a team that was previously 0-10 is not impressive in the least. Emmett led the team with 15 points, while Jackson had a double, double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. McNeil finally stepped up with a good game. He scored 9 and had 7 boards.
December 26, 2008 Albany 60, (at) Colgate 49 We hand Albany their first win of the season. Emmett led the team with 14 while Jackson had 10 boards. Barnett chipped in with 10 points.
December 31, 2008 St. Bonaventure 64, (at) Colgate 59 We play a Big East team with some competitiveness, but the talent level is just not there to compete right now. Jackson was huge underneath, ripping down an impressive 18 rebounds. Emmett again led the way with 19 points.
December Recap SG Joshua Helton from Rockville, MD has committed to Colgate. Josh is a 3 star recruit. He is a real slasher and loves to drive and finish. Ivy League Standings
It is time to make a change. Barnett becomes our 6th man, and Tory Davis gets the start at Point. Dombroski takes a seat and will be our 7th man, while Hobbs will get the start. Barnett and Dombroski will see a lot of PT though. Top 25

(at) Texas Southern 65, Colgate 53 Looks like my lineup changes did not help too much. Tory Davis did score 10 in his new starting spot. Effren Quick led the team with 11 points off the bench, and Jackson had 10 boards. Emmett was quiet and only scored 4...we cannot win with him not putting up numbers.
I find out why Emmett did not score. He Ruptured a Disc in his back and will miss the rest of the season. We move Tory Davis to the SG spot, and promote Efren Quick to the starting PG spot. I want to keep Barnett as our 6th man. January 5, 2009 (at) Bucknell 88, Colgate 66 We just get crushed, and I am seriously looking at a long, rough losing season. Amazingly we have 4 players score in double figures. Barnett led the team off the bench with 17 points. Hobbs, our new starting center had 16.
January 8, 2009 Alcorn State 55, (at) Colgate 52 The losing continues, although Alcorn State is a fairly decent team. Tory Davis led the team with 15 and Quick chipped in 13. Dombroski finally contributes on offense with 12 points and 8 boards off the bench.
January 12, 2009 (at) Denver 59, Colgate 54 Denver was 2-9 coming into this game, now we are 4-9. Pathetic. Maybe time to fool with the lineup again?
I decide to let the AI set my lineup. Actually, the lineup is the same, but the playing time settings are vastly different. Lets see how that works. (at) James Madison 75, Colgate 61 Well, that was no better. Quick and Davis led the team with 12 points each.

St. Francis 85, (at) Colgate 54 This is just getting embarrassing now.
January 20, 2009 (at) Colgate 60, VMI 47 What do you know? Colgate can win a basketball game! Only Efren Quick was able to score in double figures though. He had 11. Jackson did pull down 11 boards for us.
January 23, 2009 (at) Colgate 65, Yale 63 2 in a row is considered a winning streak isn’t it? Barnett led the team in scoring off the bench with 18 and Efren scored 11 for us. Everybody else chipped in with a few to make this a total team effort. We’ll take it.
January 30, 2009 Colgate 52, (at) Monmouth 49 We run the streak to three in a row. This is how I expected my guys to play all year long. Monmouth had a nice season last year and we are able to beat them on their home court. George Jackson had maybe a career game, scoring 19 and pulling down 8 boards. Barnett continues to be the spark plug off the bench as he added in 11 with 6 asssits.
January Recap Ivy League Standings
Our overall record is poor, but if we can turn it on in conference play, we could end up having a decent season. Top 25

Colgate 58, (at) Wagner 55 We get another road win and this team is finally starting to come around. Jackson, Quick and Barnett all scored a dozen. Hobbs pulled in 8 boards for us.
February 14, 2009 (at) St. Francis 68, Colgate 53 A minor setback, as St. Francis is a quality squad, and we kept it much closer than we did on our home court.

(at) Colgate 51, Monmouth 38 We shake off the loss from our last game and dominate Monmouth today. Tory Davis is the only one to score in double figures, he had 12. It was our defense, obviously, that got the job done.
Febraury 20, 2009 Drexel 80, (at) Colgate 65 OK, so we cannot beat the better teams in conference, but we are still hovering around 500, which is our goal in conference. Efren Quick led the way with 15 points. Davis added 11.
February 21, 2009 (at) Colgate 81, James Madison 74 JM must have the worst defense in the country to give up 81 points to us. This is so great to see from our team though. Tory Davis led the way with 16 points and 7 assists. Dombroksi and Barnett added 14 and 13 respectively from the bench and Efren Quick added 11.
February 27, 2009 (at) Colgate 63, Wagner 58 A very solid win at home for us. I am really starting to get excited about what next year could bring with these guys, we have picked things up in conference play for sure. Tory Davis scored 15 to lead the way and he also had 7 assists. Hobbs pulled down 10 boards for us.
February 28, 2009 (at) Colgate 76, Brown 59 A beautiful win that pulls us to just 1 game under 500 on the season!! Efren Quick erupted for 20 points on the night. Tory Davis was even better, as he poured in 21 and dished out 9 assists.
February Recap Ivy League Standings
We have really rallied and pulled ourselves into a tie for first place in the conference! Our remaining three games are not easy though. We have Brown, Yale and finally Drexel, all on the road. Still, at worst, we finish 7-7 in conference. Top 25

(at) Brown 79, Colgate 65 Well, we made a nice run, but Drexel won today and now we are 1 full game out of first. The next game against Yale become a must win situation.
March 7, 2009 (at) Yale 57, Colgate 53 A very disappointing loss, coupled with a Drexel win ends any chance we have. We would liket o take down Drexel to close out our season though.
March 13, 2009 (at) Drexel 76, Colgate 42 We drop our final three games to fall to 7-7 in conference. A big improvement over last year, but a very disappointing finish to the regular season.

Our recruiting Class was ranked #72 in the nation.
Kansas had the #1 ranked class. Again, I was offered no new jobs, and surprisingly, none of my assistants left for greener pastures. We will have 10 OOC games to schedule this off season, with 7 of them being at home, if desired. Our team prestige is now at 32. At the end of May we have scheduled games with: Sacred Heart, Grambling, Liberty, Hartford, Gardner Webb, Cal State Fullerton and Cornell. We round out our OOC schedule with Campbell, Southern, and Southeastern Louisiana. Recruiting also begins in June and we have 2 spots to fill. We break training camp and prepare for opening day. Here is the Colgate Red Raiders of 2009-2010 CENTERS 12 Carl Jones C Sr 6' 9" 262 New Castle, DE Carl’s only strengths are defense and shot blocking. He is not a viable offensive weapon for us, and he will only be used sparingly off the bench. 2 Brian Hobbs C Jr 6'10" 271 Lyndonville, NY Hobbs strengths are defense and rebounding, but he is a bit better offensive threat than Jones, so he gets the starting nod by default. Center will not be a high scoring position for us. 35 Warren Orth C Jr 6'11" 238 Norton, MA Orth is a walkon who will not see much, if any, court time. POWER FORWARDS 31 David Dombrowski PF Jr 6' 8" 225 Bismarck, ND Dombroski should finally be cemented into the starting lineup for his final two years at Colgate. A real threat to score inside and a very fine defender. 3 Lorenzo Winkle PF Jr 6'10" 233 Bakersfield, CA Winkle is a walk on but with decent enough skills that he will get a few minutes of PT here and there. 0 Chris Eliason PF So 6'10" 211 Brooklyn, NY Chirs has some excellent low post moves and is an average defender. He is not going to pull down many boards, but will see some court time. 40 Mark Alpert PF So 6' 8" 258 Schenectady, NY Alpert is very, very good on defense and is developing some offensive moves. Enough to see some court time for us. SMALL FORWARDS 45 Richard Benjamin SF Jr 6' 8" 228 Garden Grove, CA A complete waste of space. 20 Stephen McNiel SF So 6' 7" 231 Baltimore, MD A three point specialist, but did not really showcase his shot last season. He should get a fair amount of steals as well. His defense is solid, at best, but he struggles on the boards. Still, he remains our best option to start at SF. SHOOTING GUARDS 11 Emmett Williamson SG Sr 6' 4" 187 Weston, CT Emmett is our sharp shooter and returns from injury last year. He should light up the score board, but unfortunately, the guy he covers might as well. He will start at SG. 22 Wilson Le SG Fr 6' 6" 203 Walworth, NY Le has a decent shot, but right now, that is all he brings to the table. He needs to learn the fundamentals better to really contribute. 33 Joshua Melton SG Fr 6' 5" 218 Rockville, MD Melton can score inside, a unique trait for a guard. He can also play some decent defense. Still, he is young and needs time to develop before becoming a regular contributor. POINT GUARDS 10 Tory Davis PG Jr 5' 7" 170 Topton, PA Tory is not going to give us a lot of offense, but will run the team, and do a fine job on defense. He should be dishing out the ball on a regular basis. 43 Efren Quick PG Jr 6' 3" 197 Reading, PA Great court vision and a good passer, but not enough skills to start. He will get some decent PT though. 1 Earl Barnett PG So 5'11" 171 Groton, CT If his passing skills, an important trait for a PG would improve, it would be a no brainer to start him. As it is, he will see plenty of time on the court, but coming off the bench.

(at) Colgate 71, Sacred Heart 55 Well, how about that for a season opener? We played great on both sides of the ball, never mind that Sacred Heart is a miserable team. Emmett led the team with 13 points on opening day. Everybody chipped in with a few points, and Hobbs pulled in 9 boards for us.
November 21, 2009 (at) Colgate 86, Grambling 68 We are beating up on teams weaker than us, but last year we did not, and this is a promising sign very early on. Emmett goes off for 21 points today. Dombroksi chips in with 13 and 7 boards. Hobbs also had 10 points.
Earl Barnett hurt his back and will miss about 5 weeks now. November 26, 2009 (at) Colgate 59, Liberty 53 We beat an improved Liberty team from last year, and run our record to 3-0 on the young season. Cannot ask for more than that. Emmett scored another 21 points to lead the way.

Hartford 59, (at) Colgate 55 Hartford was 3-1 coming in, so they were no slouch. Still, we have to be able to come back from a loss, not like last year. Dombroski led the way with 14 points and 5 boards. Emmett was held to just a dozen. Tory Davis scored 10 and had 8 boards and 6 assists.
December 6, 2009 (at) Colgate 71, Gardner Webb 60 It makes me so happy to see us rebound from a loss with a solid win. Emmett led the way with 18 points for us. Hobbs scored 6, but pulled down a dozen rebounds.
December 1,, 2009 (at) Colgate 62, Cal State Fullerton 51 Another solid win to run our record up to 5-1 on the year. Could not be happier right now. Emmett scores 15 to lead the team, while Dombroski chipped in with 12. Hobbs had 12 rebounds on the day.
December 14, 2009 (at) Southeastern Louisiana 40, Colgate 36 What an ugly game. 76 combined points. Better to just write this one off and move on.
December 17, 2009 Colgate 70, (at) Southern 66 Once again we rebound from a loss, and this time we take a road win. Emmett had 17 to lead the team, as usual. Three others also scored in double figures: Quick, Davis and Dombroski. Davis also had 8 boards, while Dombroski had 7.

Cornell (4-5) at Colgate (6-2) Two schools from central New York with much prestige, battle it out on the hardcourt. This should have been a pretty easy win for my squad, being at home and all, but instead it is a 10 point loss. Dombroski had a fine offensive night with 16 points, and he also had 9 boards, but the rest of the offense was quiet as we go down, 57-47. Hobbs was shut out at the center position, but he did have 8 rebounds.
December 24, 2009 Colgate (6-3) at Eastern Michigan (2-7) E. Michigan is a pretty poor team, but we will still need a good performance to win on the road. Emmett did not let us down, and they had nobody to cover him, as he went off for 23 points. Tory Davis chipped in with 13 and 5 boards. Hobbs continues to struggle to score at center…he had only 4 points, but pulled in another 8 boards en route to a 63-55 victory. Merry Christmas guys!
December 30, 2009 Chicago State (6-7) at Colgate (7-3) We take care of business on our home court, against an inferior opponent. Efren Quick gave us the offensive boost off the bench that we needed to pull away for a 63-54 win. Efren scored 20 for us. Hobbs finally picked up the offense a bit as he scored 9 and pulled down 8 boards for the third straight game. Carl Jones came off the bench to lead the team with 10 rebounds.
December Recap PG Charles Waldrup, from Brighton, MA has committed to North Carolina. SF Ed Silverman, from Forestville, MD has committed to Colgate! Ed is a 3 star prospect. He is really deadly from three point range and a good rebounded. He struggles to score when stepping in, and is suspect on defense. My new feature is to post his player card when a guy commits to us.
Ivy League Standings
I really cannot ask for more than a 8-3 record as we head into January, with league games coming up very soon. Top 25

Stony Brook (8-3) at Colgate (8-3) We got a little more than we bargained for from Stony Brook when we schedule this game. They are turning out a solid season so far, and continue to do so by beating us on our court. Emmett did all he could do by scoring 19 points, and while Stephen McNeil finally stepped up and scored a dozen, we came up just a bit short, losing 67-64.
January 8, 2010 Colgate (8-4) at Campbell (4-11) We rebound from a loss, by going on the road and taking care of business against a pretty bad team in Campbell. Nobody on the team really had a good offensive night, as nobody reached 10 points. Hobbs was named POTG with his 7 point, 5 rebound performance. David and McNeil led the team with 9 points apiece.
January 15, 2010 Navy (5-6) at Colgate (9-4) We open up Ivy League conference play at home, and just barely squeak out a victory over the Midshipmen. Emmett Williamson again led the way for us with 17 points along with 4 assists. Hobbs continues to play well, scoring 8 and grabbing 10 boards. Tory Davis did his job at the point with 6 points, and more importantly, dishing out 7 assists.

Colgate (10-4) at Yale (7-5) Yale beat us on their court late in the season last year, but we get some revenge today and run our conference record to 2-0 with a 63-53 win. Emmett led all scorers with 23 points, and was perfect from the free throw line. Dombroski chipped in with 9 points as well.
January 22, 2010 Colgate (11-4) at Monmouth (3-10) This is the type of league road game that is a must win for us if we wish to compete. Monmouth played us hard, but we were able to come out of there with a narrow 54-51 win. Tory Davis led the way for us with 15 points, and Emmett scored 13. Dombroski was named POTG for his 9 point, 11 rebound performance.
January 29, 2010 Yale (7-8) at Colgate (12-4) We sweep Yale on the year with a 53-42 victory at home and go 4-0 in league play. Three of our players scored in double figures, led by David Dombroski, with 15. McNeil added a dozen and Emmett had 11 along with 8 boards for us.
January Recap Ivy League Standings
Things are still going about as good as I could have hoped for and we should get Barnett back soon as well. We just need to keep up the solid play and we have a great shot to finish on top of the standings. Top 25

Monmouth (5-11) at Colgate (13-4) We win both games against Monmouth this year after a 53-42 victory at home. More importantly, we are still unbeaten in league play. David Dombroski led the team with 12 points, but he was the only player to score in double figures. Hobbs owned the boards, pulling down 10.
February 6, 2010 Colgate (14-4) at Navy (6-12) We stumble on the road here against a bad Navy team. We allowed them to keep it close and they stole it from us at the end. Well, we couldn’t win them all. Navy won 49-47. Emmett scored 10 to lead the team, so you knew that would not likely be enough to win on the road. Hobbs was shut out but did grab 5 boards.
February 12, 2010 Wagner (7-12) at Colgate (14-5) Wagner was a very solid club last year, but they seem to be struggling here in mid season. They get hot at the wrong time for us though as they come into our house and just wipe us out, 82-59. Pretty disappointing loss here, and we have now dropped 2 in a row. Wagner won 82-59. David Dombroski had a career game by far, scoring 26 points. Tory Davis chipped in 10, but Emmett was shutout in 30 minutes of play.
February 13, 2010 Drexel (13-7) at Colgate (14-6) This is a key game in the season, and we come out flat, stay flat and drop our third in a row, and 2nd at home. Drexel handles us with ease, 61-47. Dombroski, Emmett and Davis all scored in double figures, but thre rest of the team really struggled to put the ball in the hoop.
Mid-Season Update Ivy League Standings
Drexel is just tearing it up, and amidst our 3 game slide, we are quickly taking ourselves out of contention. We do have 6 games left, with a rematch against Drexel though. Top 25

Brown (10-12) at Colgate (14-7) If we want to have any chance, this home game (and all home games) are a must win. Our offense was on fire today as we put up 74 points, but our defense was atrocious and we let up two more than that. Brown beats us 76-74. Dombroski is playing great lately though, he scored 19 today. Earl Barnett contributed 17 off the bench, but again the rest of the team struggled for the most part. Emmett was held to 6 points.
February 19, 2010 St. Francis (5-16) at Colgate (14-8) A perfect opportunity to get back on the right track. Our defense stifles them and we take the 52-43 home win. Emmett finally gets back on track too, as he leads the team with 13 points. Tory Davis contributed 10 with 5 boards and 4 assists.
Dombroski will be out of the lineup for a game with a minor injury. February 20, 2010 Colgate (15-8) at St. Francis (5-17) St. Francis comes right back on the next night and takes care of us on their home court. We split the 2 day series. This one they take 59-52. Emmett led the team with 15 and Davis chipped in with 10. Earl Barnett stepped in for a start and contributed 7.
February 22, 2010 Denver (5-22) at Colgate (15-9) We step out of conference for a game against a very weak opponent, but we need to win this one. However, we overlook this poor team and take a very bad loss, 54-50. The season has now officially unraveled on us. Emmett is our only double digit scorer, he got 13.
February 27, 2010 Colgate (15-10) at Wagner (10-15) The slide continues here on the road with a 78-67 defeat. Emmett scored 19 and Dombroski had 16, but once again, they are getting no help.
February Recap Ivy League Standings
What started off as a very promising season has turned into a 500 conference season with just 2 games to go. It is imperative that we take at least one, but it would help my blood pressure if we can get both. Top 25

Colgate (15-11) at Brown (12-13) Another loss, and we dip below 500 in conference play. This makes our season finally an absolute must win. Brown took this one on their court, 59-52. Dombroski led the way with 15 points and 6 boards. Barnett came off the bench to put up 10.
March 6, 2010 Colgate (15-12) at Drexel (18-9) Well, we get the best team on the road, and we need to win to finish at 7-7. We kept ourselves in the game, but Drexel was just too tough for us and they prevail, 58-51. We finish the year off at 6-8 in conference play, after opening up 4-0. That means we went 2-8 down the stretch.

Our recruiting class was ranked #194 overall. We were only able to sign 1 recruit. Cincinnati follows up their title run with the #1 ranked recruiting class in the land. Our team prestige has now dropped to 30. The Board of trustees is satisfied with my performance. At one point they were delighted. Our training facilities are only 6th best in the conference, so I put in a request for an upgrade. We are not offered any new jobs once again. Once again, all of my assistant coaches decide to stay put with me. Again, I am a bit surprised, but quite happy. Scheduling: We have 9 openings on our OOC schedule, 7 of which can be home games. As May comes to a close we have games with: Sacred Heart, Gardner Webb, Cal State Fullerton, Mount St. Mary’s, Howard, and Binghampton. I was also informed the funds are not available to upgrade training facilities. In June we round out our schedule with: Chicago State, Liberty and Quinnipiac Again, we load up on teams that might be even worst than we are. Recruiting also begins in June and we have 5 spots to fill. A very tall order! As July hits, I get some good news from the AD. He has increased my recruiting budget by almost 22,000 for the year. Early November rolls around, and the early signing period begins. We get two decisions, 1 good, one bad. C Gordon Mora, from Westbrook, CT has committed to Kentucky PG Johnnie Moore, from Farrell, PA has committed to Colgate. Johnnie is a 3 star prospect. He has the potential to be everything we want in a prototypical point guard. He shot is not great, but it is average. He is a great finisher when he drives to the hoop
We break training camp and are ready to showcase the 2010-2011 Colgate team for you CENTERS 2 Brian Hobbs C Sr 6'10" 272 Lyndonville, NY Hobbs enters his senior year as our starting Center. He has improved his defense and rebounding to the point of being excellent at those skills. His offense has improved enough to keep defenses honest. Last year he average 4.1 ppg and 8.1 rpg. 35 Warren Orth C Sr 6'11" 246 Norton, MA Orth is a walk on in his final season. He still will not see much, if any, playing time for us. 13 Ted Deas C Fr 6' 9" 243 Morehead City, NC Ted is a walkon whose defense is so bad, and has so little potential, that I don’t even want him courtside for our games. POWER FORWARDS 31 David Dombrowski PF Sr 6' 8" 227 Bismarck, ND David enters his senior year as a real scoring threat down low. He is also quite solid on defense, and a good shot blocker. He remains as our starting power forward. Last year he scored 10.0 ppg and had 6.3 rpg. 3 Lorenzo Winkle PF Sr 6'10" 235 Bakersfield, CA Winkle has a few offensive moves, can compete on defense, and has pretty good hands and court vision for a big man. He will see some court time. 0 Chris Eliason PF Jr 6'11" 218 Brooklyn, NY Chris does three things really well: score, play D and block shots. Two of those are great qualities that I look for and he will see plenty of court time. He is being groomed to start next season. 40 Mark Alpert PF Jr 6' 8" 259 Schenectady, NY Alpert is a superb defender and a pretty good scorer. We really have some great depth at power forward, and Mark will see plenty of playing time. SMALL FORWARD 45 Richard Benjamin SF Sr 6' 8" 232 Garden Grove, CA This guy is truly a terrible player. 20 Stephen McNiel SF Jr 6' 7" 232 Baltimore, MD McNeil is really deadly from 3 point range, but so far, after two years, he other skills have not developed as good as I would have hoped for. Still, he is our best option at SF. 51 Ed Silverman SF Fr 6' 8" 214 Forestville, MD The freshman is lights out from 3 point range, but he brings nothing else to the table right now. He is completely lost on defense, but has room and time to grow. He will be used sparingly. SHOOTING GUARD 22 Wilson Le SG So 6' 8" 215 Walworth, NY Wilson has pretty good form on his shot, and plays acceptable defense. He is a decent passer as well. He really struggles from downtown though. Still, he is good enough to get a few minutes per game. 33 Joshua Melton SG So 6' 5" 225 Rockville, MD This sophomore has an awkward looking shot which he struggles to get in the hoop. He is a good finisher from the paint though, and plays defense better than most on our team. He will see some time here and there. POINT GUARDS 10 Tory Davis PG Sr 5' 7" 174 Topton, PA Only on occasion will Tory have a big scoring game, but he does everything we want him to do as a point guard. Great ball distributor and will hawk his man on D. He will start at Point Guard. 43 Efren Quick PG Sr 6' 3" 197 Reading, PA Decent shooter and a good ball distributor. He can back up both PG and SG with ease, and that is what he will do. 1 Earl Barnett PG Jr 5'11" 172 Groton, CT He is money from the floor (rated 96) and a very solid defender. We will try to limit his three point attempts though. He will start at SG for us, and we expect him to be our leading scorer most nights.

November 17, 2010
Sacred Heart (0-1) at Colgate (0-0) Opening day in Colgate, and hopes are once again high on campus. We start out with a real bang, winning 73-44. Earl Barnett leads the team, as expected in most games, with 19 points. Dombroski was also great tonight, he scored 17 and had 8 boards. How I would love to see that from him every game. Hobbs cleaned up the boards with 13.
November 22, 2010 Gardner Webb (0-2) at Colgate (1-0) We will have to sit Tory Davis for this game due to a sore rib. Efren Quick will take over the starting PG job for this game, but the team did not gel right without their leader, Davis. We take a bad loss at home, 78-71, and hope for a quick return for Davis. Barnett led the team with 16 points. Dombroski and McNeil both chipped in 10 each. Quick was fine on offense, scoring 8 and handing out 10 assists. We got killed by their PF, who went off for 35 points on us.
November 27, 2010 Cal State Fullerton (2-1) at Colgate (1-1) We get Tory back for this game, but he will not be 100%. He probably did not need him at all since we win this one 76-45. Barnett continues to pace us on offense, with 18 points and he also had 8 assists. Dombroski, McNeil and Quick all scored in double figures as well. Hobbs did his job on the boards, grabbing 13.
November Recap We lose two potential recruits to Louisville and Maine. We have nobody commit to us either. Ivy League Standings

December 2, 2010
Mount St. Mary’s (1-1) at Colgate (2-1) We take care of business at home today against an unknown in St. Mary’s. Dombroski led all scoreds on Colgate with 18 points and also had 6 boards. Hobbs had 8 boards, but little used Josh Melton came off the bench and chipped in with 12 points, 3 boards and 3 assists.
December 8, 2010 Colgate (3-1) at Howard (3-3) Howard has played quite a few games already, but I am not sure how good they really are. They played us tough and had the home crowd behind them, but we pull it out, 54-48. Mark Alpert came off the bench to lead the team with a dozen points. Davis had 11 and Dombroski had 10 and 7 boards for us.
December 12, 2010 Chicago State (3-4) at Colgate (4-1) We put up some points in this game, 78 to be exact, and come away with another home court win, 78-67. A solid effort all around. Dombroski, McNeil and Efren Quick all scored 15 points for us. Chris Eliason came off the bench and chipped in with 10. We are getting very good bench production this year, which is a first.
December 17, 2010 Colgate (5-1) at Liberty (2-6) We have had great success against Liberty, but usually playing them at home. They play us tougher on the road, but we still prevail, 55-49. Earl Barnett led all scorers with 18 and also had 6 boards. McNeil and Dombroski both scored in double figures, while Hobbs pulled down 8 rebounds.
Mid-Month Recap Ivy League Standings
So far, so good. We started the same way last year, so I am still skeptical. The bench production is a nice sign though. Top 25

Quinnipiac (4-3) at Colgate (6-1)
A pretty decent Quinnipiac team comes to our house today, but we are able to defend our home court with a 7 point win, 61-54. Our starters played the best game of the year as a unit. 4 players scored in double figures, and Hobbs, who we don’t look to for points, did his job by grabbing 8 boards. This type of effort will take us far this year.
December 26, 2010 Binghamton (4-5) at Colgate (7-1) We try to notch our 8th win of the year against a fellow central New York school, but we fall short, 66-59. Dombroski led the team with 19 points, and McNeil has been very consistant of late, chipping in 11 points, but the rest of the offense was pretty quiet. Hopefully, we can shake this one off and get back on track.
December Recap We lose another recruit to Rutgers, and are not able to get a commitment from anybody. This is turning into a rough recruiting year for us. Ivy Standings
Looking good as we are close to beginning the league schedule. Top 25

January 5, 2011
Colgate (7-2) at Grambling (4-7) We start off the new year on the road against a pretty poor team, but we struggled on the road and dropped this one by three points. Their PF went off for 35 points on us. Painful. Our points were spread out nicely among our starting five, but unfortunately, we just did not score enough.
January 12, 2011 Southern (5-7) at Colgate (7-3) We get back to the cozy confines of our home court and try to get back into a winning streak. We come out flat however, and never recover, falling by 9 at home, 62-53. We have now dropped 3 straight. Dombroski and Barnett scored a dozen each to lead the way, but Barnett has been quiet as of late, and I would like to see some 15+ point games out of him now.
January 14, 2011 Navy (4-8) at Colgate (7-4) We open up conference play at home, and really need to get off to a good start. Navy ruins our opener though, and puts us in a 0-1 hole to start things out by beating us 56-52. Dombroski came ready to play, as he scored 25 points, but our offense is really in a slump overall. Hobbs did his job with 12 boards though.
January 16, 2011 Colgate (7-5) at Cornell (9-5) Cornell is looking solid this year, and this is a in state rivalry for bragging rights. We are able to snap our losing streak and once again beat these guys, which is always a nice notch in the belt. Final score was 69-62. Four of our starters scored in double figures, led by Tory Davis with 17.
Mid-Month Review Ivy Standings
We started off with a loss in our only conference game, but overall our record is acceptable. We broke our losing streak and will look to build on our last win. Top 25

January 21, 2011
Colgate (8-5) at St. Francis (6-9) We are going to have to win on the road to avoid a 0-2 conference start. It was close all the way, back and forth late into the second half, but we come away with a big 3 point win on the road. McNeil led the way with 15 points, 5 boards and 4 assists.
January 24, 2011 Southeastern Louisiana (7-10) at Colgate (9-5) No problems here at home, as our defense was all over their shooters and we cruised to a 65-42 win. Dombroski led the team with 15 points while Davis had 13. Hobbs cleaned the boards with 13 rebounds.
January 28, 2011 Colgate (10-5) at Yale (5-12) These are the games that I just loathe losing, even on the road. A team that is going to compete needs to beat weak teams on the road. This time, we take care of business and I can breathe a bit easier with a 59-49 win. Dombroski again leads the way with 16 points and also grabbed 10 boards for a double, double. Barnett and Davis scored in double figures as well.
January Recap Devastating Recruiting News. All 4 scholarships we had offered were declined in favor of the following schools: Iowa, Notre Dame, Utah State and Kansas. Ivy Standings
We are right in the thick of things so far. Top 25

February 4, 2011
Hartford (7-10) at Colgate (11-5) This is another type of game that I worry about. A marginal team, on my home court. I have lost way too many of these type of games. Today, we take care of business though with a 9 point win, 76-67. Tory Davis showed some offense today, leading the team with 18 points and handing out 6 assists. Barnett and McNeil also scored in double figures. Hobbs pulled in 13 rebounds, a very nice effort.
February 5, 2011 Colgate (12-5) at Hartford (7-11) We turn around and play Hartford again on the next night, but on their court, and they are able to split the season series with a 71-65 win over us. Another Power Forward scores at will on us, with 29 points. Barnett led the way for us with 16. Dombroski’s defense is pretty good (76), so I am shocked his man has had some big games this year.
February 11, 2011 Brown (11-9) at Colgate (12-6) I would think this was going to be a real battle, but we shut them down and won in a blowout, 72-40. Dombroski put up another double, double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Quick and Le scored in double figures off the bench. Whenever our bench is putting up points, we have no problems getting a win it seems.
February 12, 2011 St. Francis (9-11) at Colgate (13-6) Our shooters could not find the basket today as we were only able to put up 36 points on the day. Of course, we lose bad, 49-36, at home to boot. Two starters scored more than 2 points. Unacceptable.
Mid-Month Recap Ivy Standings
We are only 1 game out in the loss column. We will have our chances as the season begins to wind down. Top 25

February 15, 2011
Colgate (13-7) at Navy (9-12) We have to be able to beat Navy on the road if we claim to be legit contenders. Naturally, we lose, 62-59. Little used Josh Melton led the team with 16 and only Dombroski scored in double figures besides Melton. Not a recipe for winning on the road. We are going to have to string together 3 or 4 wins now.
February 18, 2011 Rhode Island (9-12) at Colgate (13-8) Thankfully, I am not losing these home games to inferior opponents. We need this game to propel us to a few more wins now. 70-53 was the final score. McNeil and Davis led the team with 12 and Barnett had 11. Hobbs had 12 boards.
February 19, 2011 Colgate (14-8) at Wagner (13-10) I knew this was going to be a tough game, and it was. Neither team could take control throughout, and we were just good enough to steal a 2 point win on the road, and this keeps us alive. Their PF went off for 33 points on us, but we were able to shut the rest of them out. McNeil and Barnett both scored in double figures for the starters, and Eliason chipped in with 10 off the bench in just 10 minutes of playing time.
February 21, 2011 Colgate (15-8) at Hartford (8-15) A major setback here, as a poor Hartford team takes it to us, 64-52. Another big day for a PF, as he got 23 against us. Barnett was our only offensive threat on the day, he had 17. I think I might change my strategy to doubling down on the big men.
February 26, 2011 Yale (8-16) at Colgate (15-9) No problems here at home, as we cruise to a 77-53 win. Barnett and Dombroski led the way with 16 points each. Quick added 14 and McNeil a dozen. Hobbs out muscled everyone down low and grabbed 14 boards, a career high, I believe.
February Recap This recruiting season has been a complete disaster. We offered out 3 more schollies and they were all declined. We have only signed 1 guy out of 5 spots we need to fill. We will try and make a last ditch effort in March. Ivy League Standings
With 3 games to play, we are tied for second place, and just one game out of first. We finish up on the road at Brown and Rhode Island, and also a home game with Wagner. Top 25

March 4, 2011
Colgate (16-9) at Brown (13-12) This game might determine if we have a shot to finish first, but instead, we come out flat and lose, 62-54. St. Francis pulled out a 1 point win, so that should do it for us. Dombroski scored 17, but the rest of the team were quiet.
March 5, 2011 Wagner (14-12) at Colgate (16-10) We lead from start to finish in this one, and cruise to a 75-50 win, but it is too little too late, as St. Francis wins again. Dombroski has a huge game, scoring 25 for us. Hobbs had 10 boards and contributed 8 points. Barnett also scored 16.
March 11, 2011 Colgate (17-10) at Rhode Island (12-15) This is probably our last game of the season, as an NIT bid is doubtful, but a win gives us a glimmer of hope. We make a statement with a big 91-70 win, and leave it up to the NIT board of trustees. Dombroski, in possibly his final game, makes it a good one, with 22 points.
NIT BABY! We are invited as a #9 seed, to the NIT tournament. A huge success for us! Final 2010-2011 Standings
This season was a great success, no matter what happens in the NIT. We won more games overall than anybody else in our league, and will make our second ever post season appearance! Top 25

Post-Season
We will take on the #8 seeded Oakland team in the first round of the NIT. The game will be played on their home court. We hang tough with Oakland, and do not embarrass ourselves, but still lose the game, 75-69. I cannot really complain….post season play was the goal way back in November and we accomplished it.
St. Francis won our league and is a 14 seed. They play 3rd seeded Syracuse. The Cuse cannot buy a shot in the game, and little St. Francis does the Ivy League proud by embarrassing Syracuse in the tournament with a 71-46 victory! In the second round, St., Francis will play the 6 seed, UMass. St., Francis’s run comes to an end, 61-49, but they were the story of the first round! Final Four #1 Texas #1 Kentucky #1 Cincinnati #5 Tennessee Cincinnati defends their title and wins back to back championships with a 66-62 win over Texas. This is their 4th title in the 8 years of this dynasty! UCLA takes home the NIT title. Post Season Awards Colgate gets its fair share of post season hardware. Stephen McNeil was named to the Ivy League 1st team Earl Barnett and David Dombroski were named to the Ivy League 2nd team I was named Ivy League Coach of the Year!!! Yea for me! Off-Season Procedures
We get some good news with 2 very late recruits. PF Chris Needham from Scotts Valley, CA and C Vaughn Batiste from Puyallup, WA committ to Colgate. I believe they were both 3 star recruits, but I cannot go to the recruiting screen anymore. More good news, the AD has decided to upgrade our training facilities, and the changes will take effect next season. Meanwhile, this season we have the worst in our conference. Even more good news! We were somehow ranked with the #20 recruiting class in the nation. Fresno State was ranked #1 in the country. No Job offers come our way. I am a bit surprised, but I would have declined anyways. Our lead scout has left for the College of Charleston. We will have to replace him. We bring on Vito Brown. He is rated 44 in scouting and will be paid 55,000 per year. We will have to schedule 11 OOC games this off season, 7 can be home games. As of the end of May, we have scheduled games with: Grambling, Cornell, IPFW, Florida A&M, Albany, and UMass. In June we schedule: Cal State Fullerton, Tennessee State and Nevada We still have 2 more spots to fill Recruiting also begins in June and we have 4 scholarships to offer. In July we schedule: Idaho and Furman, which rounds out our schedule. A bit tough than previous years. As November hits we get an early recruit C Charles Barr, from Homer, NY commits to Colgate. Charles is a 3 star prospect. Already a good defender, Charles has the potential to grow into a very good offensive threat as well.
We break training camp and are ready to play some hoops!

2011-2012 Roster
CENTERS 13 Ted Deas C So 6' 9" 247 Morehead City, NC A walk on who could not cover a 12 year old in the paint. We would get killed with him on the floor. The killer is, he has some pretty good offensive moves. 35 Vaughn Batiste C Fr 6'11" 287 Puyallup, WA This freshman has the potential to be a very nice player for us, but not for a season or two. Still, he has a few nice moves and has shown he could rebound, so we will get him into the game. 21 Chuck Jones C Fr 6' 9" 214 Milwaukie, OR Chuck loves to rebound, but struggled to do anything else, which is not going to help us too much. He needs time to develop. POWER FORWARDS 0 Chris Eliason PF Sr 6'11" 218 Brooklyn, NY Chris has developed a nice arsenal of moves inside and can flat out score. Pretty good defender and shot blocker as well, so we pencil him in as our starting Center. 40 Mark Alpert PF Sr 6' 8" 259 Schenectady, NY Mark is a lock down defender, and can definitely contribute on offense. He won’t average double figures, but he will score a lot more than he allows. He will start at PF for us. 11 Chris Needham PF Fr 6'10" 265 Scotts Valley, CA Chris comes to us with some refined skills for a freshman and we will try to work him into the lineup where we could. SMALL FORWARDS 20 Stephen McNiel SF Sr 6' 7" 232 Baltimore, MD McNeil holds down his starting SF spot, but is not much improved from his junior year. He is our top 3 point threat though. 51 Ed Silverman SF So 6' 8" 215 Forestville, MD Ed is a sharp shooter from deep and can clean the glass with the best of him, but his man will continually leave him in the dust. Good enough offense to get some playing time though. 31 Jeromy Goetz SF Fr 6' 8" 252 La Vernia, TX This walk on is pretty useless to us. SHOOTING GUARDS 22 Wilson Le SG Jr 6' 8" 222 Walworth, NY Not a great option, but the best we have to start at SG for us. Le has a pretty decent shot, and is alright on defense, but he is not going to stand out. 33 Joshua Melton SG Jr 6' 5" 229 Rockville, MD Josh plays some good defense, and if he can get into the paint, he is a good finisher, but for a shooting guard, we are concerned about his ability to shoot from outside of 10 feet. We will get him plenty of PT, but he will not start. 12 Devon Price SG Fr 6' 5" 203 Eielson Afb, AK Devon is a walkon with not much to offer. POINT GUARDS 1 Earl Barnett PG Sr 5'11" 176 Groton, CT Earl Barnett should really light up the scoreboard this year. As a point guard, he is not a great passer, but adequate….we will want him shooting a lot. He is also a very nice defender and will get the job done for us. He starts at PG. 50 Johnnie Moore PG Fr 6' 1" 189 Farrell, PA Johnnie can do a lot of things, but cannot do anything exceptionally. Will be used sparingly. 2 Dalton Lee PG Fr 5'11" 168 Satsuma, AL Another walkon that will not help us.

Grambling (0-0) at Colgate (0-0) We schedule a real cupcake to start the season. We have a bunch of first time starters, and need to ease into things. We take care of business to the tune of 70-56. Barnett is as advertised, he scored 19 to lead the way. Alpert makes the most of his first start with a double, double: 12 points and 10 boards. Eliason also has a nice game for his first start, 14 points and 7 boards.
November 22, 2011 Cornell (1-1) at Colgate (1-0) Our annual bragging rights game, and again, we get to brag. We own this team. Eliason and Alpert were my only double digit scorers, they had 14 and 10 respectively. Suddenly we seem to have a very dominant game down in the paint. Eliason added 12 boards for a double, double.
November 28, 2011 IPFW (1-3) at Colgate (2-0) No problems here at home. We win this one 70-53. This time, our guards take care of business. Three of them scored in double figures. Melton came off the bench to lead us with 18 in just 20 minutes of play. Le had 13 and Barnett had a dozen.
November Wrap Up Bad news, Earl Barnett is on a 30 day academic suspension. That dumb bastard, he is supposed to lead us this year. Johnnie Moore will have to step in and try to get the job done in December. Ivy Standings

Florida A&M (1-3) at Colgate (3-0) We pass our first test without our point guard and take this one 68-59 to move to 4-0 on the young season. We had four players scoring in double figures, led by McNeil and Melton with 13 apiece. Eliason had 12 and Moore had 11 filling in at the point.
December 6, 2011 Massachusetts (3-0) at Colgate (4-0) This is going to be a real test for us, and a good measuring stick. Not only did we stick with them, we stuck it TO them! We come away with a great 70-51 win. This really boosts the team’s confidence, and gives us a real solid win on our resume. Eliason led the way with 19 points and 8 boards. Le, McNeil and Melton all added 11 points each.
December 8, 2011 Colgate (5-0) at Albany (0-4) We take our show on the road for an in-state matchup. Albany gave us all we could handle, but we come out still undefeated with a 76-72 win. Melton is providing us a great punch as the 6th man, as he led the team today with 17. Alpert had 16 and Le added 13.
December 13, 2011 Colgate (6-0) at Idaho (2-3) We travel long distance for what could be a very tough game for us. Idaho gives us more than we can handle after the long plane trip and we take our first loss, a blowout, 82-63. Melton and Le are our only double digit scorers in this one.
Mid-Month Recap
How could I complain. We won a game we should not have (UMASS) and lost a questionable one, but a forgivable one (Idaho). Top 25

Colgate (6-1) at Furman (6-2) This is another tough game we scheduled. I can’t wait to get home. Furman takes care of us 75-64, and it is a game they should have won anyway, but at least we played competitively. Eliason led the way with 13 and Melton continues to be a great 6th man for us, chipping in 11.
December 25, 2011 Colgate (6-2) at Cal State Fullerton (2-11) Another very long road trip, but this time we should be able to handle them. It actually ends up a nail biter, but we get the 1 point win, 65-64. We take it and get out of there quickly. Eliason, McNeil and Moore all scored in double figures, and Alpert pulled down 12 boards for us.
December Wrap Up First, we learn that Earl Barnett is back from his suspension. Thank you. We get another recruit as well! C Pierre Jones from Bronx, NY commits to Colgate. Pierre is a 3 star recruit. He already has some nice offensive moves, and can cover him man. He will need to work on rebounding.

Tennessee State (4-11) at Colgate (7-2) We struggle, even with Barnett back in the lineup and drop this game which we should have own, 73-63. Eliason had a nice game, scoring 17 and Barnett and McNeil put up double figures, but the bench was not much help today.
January 8, 2012 Nevada (10-2) at Colgate (7-3) I thought this one would be wire to wire, but instead, we impress and take this one with ease, 86-54. Eliason was a monster and put up a double, double with a huge 32 points and 10 boards. Melton rebounded from a 1 for 8 game with 18 points today.
We lose McNeil for about 2 weeks in this game with a broken cheekbone. January 13, 2012 Colgate (8-3) at Brown (7-6) We open up our conference schedule on the road. The loss of McNeil didn’t help and we drop our opener, 75-71. Alpert had a double, double with 12 points and 11 boards, and Eliason led the team with 18. Melton and Moore also scored in double figures, but the defense could not lock them down.
In addition, Melton dislocated his knee and could miss up to three weeks. We are getting pretty thin here. January 14, 2012 Northeastern (10-3) at Colgate (8-4) We drop a real heartbreaker, 81-80. Eliason put up 20 points and Alpert had 14 to continue our dominant inside game. Silverman had 12 off the bench and we had a variety of scoring from everyone else, but once again, our defense lets us down.
January 16, 2012 Liberty (7-10) at Colgate (8-5) We continue to dominate this Liberty team, today taking a 62-57 win, despite being banged up pretty good. Alpert was our only double digit scorer, he had 15. Barnett scored 7 and dished out 8 assists.
Mid-Month Recap
0-2 is not exactly how we had hoped to start out in conference, but we have plenty of time and are good enough to rebound. Top 25

Colgate (9-5) at Florida International (4-10) We get McNeil back for this game, but not quite at 100%. It was enough to get the 79-71 win though. Barnett finally has that massive game we were waiting for as he puts up 26 points, 5 boards and 6 assists. Our two big men, Eliason and Alpert put up a combined 26 points and 9 boards.
January 24, 2012 Colgate (10-5) at Gardner Webb (6-15) McNeil is at full strength for this one., but it is still not enough as we take a real bad loss, 79-73. Eliason erupted for a 27 point outburst, but the rest of the team was pretty quiet. Still, the defense lost this game for us.
January 27, 2012 Wagner (4-12) at Colgate (10-6) This is a perfect opportunity to right the ship and start a winning streak. However, we had to really sweat this one out, but still prevailed 56-55. Alpert, Eliason and Barnett all scored in double figures, led by Alpert with 12. Barnett fell just short of a triple double, as he scored 10 and had 9 boards and 9 assists.
January Recap Ivy Standings
After an 0-2 start, we are now at 2-2, and headed in the right direction. Top 25

February 3, 2012
Navy (11-5) at Colgate (11-6) A pretty big game, and we take care of business at home, 69-62. Melton comes off the bench to lead the team with 20. McNeil and Barnett scored in double figures as well, and Mark Alpert had 11 rebounds for us.
February 4, 2012 Rhode Island (5-13) at Colgate (12-6) Not much of a problem against a bottom feeder team, as we win 77-64. Eliason led the way with 18 points and had 8 boards as well. McNeil scored 13 and grabbed 9 boards.
February 10, 2012 Colgate (13-6) at Wagner (5-14) I was worried coming into this game, since it was on the road, and I had a right to be worried. We drop this one 66-65, which is inexcusable, really. Eliason scored 20 for us and Le and Moore scored in double figures, but our leaders, McNeil and Barnett struggled, which cost us the game.
February 11, 2012 Colgate (13-7) at Northeastern (14-6) Talk about a huge win. We take down the league leader on their home court by a final score of 68-51. Melton, Le and McNeil all scored in double figured, led by Melton off the bench with 13. Barnett only scored 6, but did hand out 8 assists.
February 14, 2012 Colgate (14-7) at Yale (8-12) We drop another game on the road. These road losses to losing teams will cost us a chance at post seaosn play. Final score was 71-66. Eliason had 18 and Barnett had 13, but everyone else was pretty quiet.
Mid-Month Recap
Our win at Northeastern proves to be really big, as it keeps us just 1 game out in the loss column. If we didn’t drop road games to Yale and Navy (who are actually having success in league play), we could be on top. Top 25

Florida International (5-17) at Colgate (14-8) No problems here, as our defense took care of things in a 66-43 win. Eliason had another double, double with 15 points and 12 boards. Melton and Moore, both off the bench each scored in double figures.
February 24, 2012 Yale (9-14) at Colgate (15-8) Yale completes the season sweep, dealing us a blow to our title hopes. 59-57 was the final score. Eliason and Melton scored in double figures, but the rest of the team played uninspired ball.
February 25, 2012 Brown (13-11) at Colgate (15-9) We rebound with a much needed win to keep ourselves in contention. Final was 71-62. Chalk up another double, double for Eliason with 21 points and 10 boards. Moore had 10 off the bench, and the starters all chipped in with some offense.
February 29, 2012 Howard (19-8) at Colgate (16-9) We step out of conference for a game and crush Howard on our own court, 85-55. Added in another 22 points for Eliason. Melton, Alpert and Silverman all added double figures in scoring.
February Wrap Up PG Thomas Delrosario, from East Greenbush, NY committed to Colgate. Tom is our first 4 star recruit! The guy looks ready to play from day one and can become a real impact player for us. I don’t want to get my hopes up too high, but he could be the greatest player to ever don a Colgate uniform when all is said and done.

Colgate (17-9) at Navy (16-9) Navy ends our chances at the NCAA’s with a 65-62 win over us. So disappointing, but maybe we have a shot at another NIT invite. Northeastern and Yale both won as well, so we have no chance at first place.
March 9, 2012 Colgate (17-10) at Rhode Island (9-18) A real bad loss here, 71-59 might have costed us any post season games.

2012-2013 Colgate Roster (with starters in bold)
CENTERS 13 Ted Deas C Jr 6'10" 248 Morehead City, NC Ted is a walk on, but has pretty good fundamental skills, and can actually contribute, so he will get a few minutes her and there. 35 Vaughn Batiste C So 6'11" 288 Puyallup, WA Vaughn has a knack for getting offensive rebounds and putting them back up and in. He defense suffers, and he has some trouble creating his own shot. I doubt he will be used in our regular rotation too much. 21 Chuck Jones C So 6' 9" 221 Milwaukie, OR Chuck is a tremendous rebounded, but that is all he really excels at. He struggles to score and defend, and can not be counted on yet. 3 Pierre Jones C Fr 6' 8" 223 Bronx, NY Pierre will start at Center as a freshman. He already has a nice set of moves on offense, and he can hold his own for sure on defense. After 4 years at Colgate he should be come a truly dominate center. 53 Charles Barr C Fr 6' 8" 227 Homer, NY Charles is a good defender, and can be used if he works on his offense. POWER FORWARDS 11 Chris Needham PF So 6'10" 265 Scotts Valley, CA Chris will play a key role for us this year. He has a very nice skill set, and really is an excellent defender. We can also count on him to score some and really clean up on the boards for us. He will start at power forward for us. 1 Jamey Kaufmann PF Fr 6'11" 238 Garnett, KS Jamey is a walk on player, and can rebound. I really cannot say anything else about him without being rude. SMALL FORWARD 51 Ed Silverman SF Jr 6' 8" 216 Forestville, MD Ed is deadly from three point range, maybe one of the best in the country. He is also very good getting to the boards. The problem is he cannot cover anybody. Still, because of his offensive skills he will be one of the first 2 guys off the bench for us. 31 Jeromy Goetz SF So 6' 8" 253 La Vernia, TX Jeromy is a walk on who will not see any playing time. SHOOTING GUARDS 22 Wilson Le SG Sr 6' 8" 229 Walworth, NY Le has worked on his defense, and his jump shot looks even better this year, his last at Colgate. He will start for us at the SG spot. 33 Joshua Melton SG Sr 6' 5" 231 Rockville, MD We finally found a spot for a SG with great inside scoring skills, the starting SF spot. 12 Devon Price SG So 6' 5" 209 Eielson Afb, AK Devon is a pretty skillful play and will see plenty of time off the bench, and we hope to get some good contributions from him when a starter is cold on the day. POINT GUARDS 50 Johnnie Moore PG So 6' 1" 193 Farrell, PA Johnnie is a pretty well rounded player. He doesn’t really excel at any one thing, but he is capable all over the court. He is our 6th man this year and will see plenty of PT. 2 Dalton Lee PG So 5'11" 175 Satsuma, AL Dalton is a walk on. I could tell you he is a very good free throw shooter. 55 Thomas Delrosario PG Fr 6' 0" 174 East Greenbush, NY Tom earns the starting PG spot as a freshman. He has a good handle, a nice shot, a very good defender, and he knows how to hassle him man and steal the ball. We need him to develop his passing skills a bit more.

St. Louis (0-0) at Colgate (0-0) This might end up being our toughest game of the year. St. Louis is a pretty decent squad, with a prestige level in the 50’s, while ours is in the mid 30’s. the crowd comes out in full force for opening night, and they spur us on to a huge upset, 87-80. Chris Needham was named POTG for his 13 point, 11 rebound performance, but we had other candidates for the award. Le led the team with 20 points and also had 9 boards. Tom Delarosario, in his first collegiate game, scored 14 and handed out 5 assists. Melton and Moore also scored in double figures for us.
November 22, 2012 Grambling (0-0) at Colgate (1-0) After the St. Louis game, this one seemed easy and we take care of business, 70-52. Freshman Pierro Jones did not play like a freshman. He scored 12 points and pulled down a school record 19 rebounds! Melton led the team with 19 points. Tommy D. also chipped in with 16 points and 8 boards from the PG spot.
November 27, 2012 Texas Southern (0-0) at Colgate (2-0) Texas S. is another tough game we scheduled, and they we cannot overcome the talent gap as we fall, 71-66. We kept it close the whole way though. Tom D. led the team with 16 points. So far he has lived up to the hype. Moore and Pierre Jones also scored in double figures.
Josh Melton broke his cheekbone in this game and will miss about 3 weeks of play. Maybe if he played the whole game, we could have pulled this one out. November Recap PG James Raby, from Ilion, NY has committed to Colgate. James is a 3 star recruit. He is a very good passer and has a good jump shot. He will need to work on his defense for us though.
Ivy League Standings
Despite the 2-1 record, I have a really good feeling about this year’s team. Top 25

Nichols State (1-1) at Colgate (2-1) Without one of our stars, Melton, we seem to be struggling as we lose this one by 10, 72-62. Le moved into the SF spot and scored 12 which led the team. Batiste came off the bench and added 10, but the starters had an off game for the most part.
December 9, 2012 Cal State Fullerton (4-2) at Colgate (2-2) Cal State is a team we have had great success against in past seasons, but with our weakened linup, we played non-competitively. They won 69-58. Pierre Jones had a double, double with 10 and 10. Needham and Le also scored in double figures, but our guard play was lacking. We really need Le as the off guard, but the goods news is Melton will be back before league play.
More bad, bad news. Tom Delarosario will miss the rest of the season with a Ruptured Achilles. December 13, 2012 #13 St. Bonaventure (5-1) at Colgate (2-3) We did not get blown out as expected, but only lost by a final score of 68-59. Meedham, Le and Moore all scored in double figures, led by Wilson Le and his 15. Needham was 1 rebound short of a double, double.
December 16, 2012 Colgate (2-4) at Cornell (4-3) We get blown out in our first road game of the year, 70-50. Our lineup is really banged up and what started off as a promising season, could turn out to be a long tiring season. Le was our only double digit scorer, he had 17.
Mid-Month Recap
I am blaming it all on injuries. Top 25

Colgate (2-5) at Howard (2-5) Melton is back at full strength and everybody is listed as 100%. Tom D. is obviously out and will be for the rest of the year, so this game is a preview of what our team will now look like for the rest of the season. Our offense gets going with the return of Melton, but we just let up too many points today and fall in a heartbreaker, 87-86. Le scored 9 points, and he was the only starter not to get into double figures…just 1 point short. Jones led the way with 15.
December 26, 2012 New Hampshire (2-6) at Colgate (2-6) A good opportunity to start stringing some wins together. We right the ship with a narrow 64-60 win here at home. Melton leads the team with 15 points. Johhnie Moore, our new starting PG scored 17 and had 5 assists, a very solid effort.
December 30, 2012 Colgate (3-6) at Nevada (4-5) Another game where our defense just gets scored upon at will and we lose 85-80. Melton was the only starter not to score in double figures. Le led the team with 16.
December Recap Ivy League Standings
I tell my team to just forget December. Conference play will start up very soon, and we start off with a clean slate in the Ivy League. Top 25
