Alright, I'm actually going left today since I wasn't told it would lead me to a new level. I think the level on this side is 2 rooms deep which if that is true I would be almost to the wall of the dungeon. I think if I move forward 1 I will be at the wall, as such I'm moving left to avoid that.

Jag, the helm's no big deal. It's a Helm of Infravision. Gives you infravision, but can only be worn by people who can wear metal armor. It's only worth 75g, which is still more than I have.

I'm also thinking the possibility that someone was in this room before. The skeleton were arranged in each corner of the room. Also there is a dverger sized path to the darker bricks.

There were several battles with groups so I am reposting the rules on Combat priority, so you can check it:

If two or more players enter a room, there are several possibilities for combat. If there are multiple monsters in the room, each player will take a share of the monsters to fight, so you will divvy them up. If you arrive with one monster and multiple players, one player will fight the monster at a time, until the monster is killed. The player with the lowest level will fight first. If tied, Warrior/Paladins go first, and if two Warriors are in the room (or two non-Warriors) then it will be random. So, if Bob and Steve arrive to find a Grizzly Bear, Steve will fight it since he is level 3 and Bob is level 5. If Steve wins, he gets the XP and any treasure the Bear had. If Steve runs away or dies, then Bob fights the Bear.
