But what if is name is Paul Enis and he uses penis@gmail? I had a friend named Steve Mack whose auto-generated name in the Maryland email system was smack. Auto-generated email addresses can actually be hysterical, but for systems where you have a choice, I tend to agree that it seems ridiculous to have a "bad" name. Then again, when I get email from (supposedly) technical people with an @aol.com email address, I have a good moment wondering if it's real. /tk

Ok.... What would cause someone to abandon a car on the side of the road with the tire taken off and no obvious jack left?I have driven 10 hours the last 2 days and have seen 6 vehicles like this. One was propped on a cinder block! Why??!! Obviously a flat tire but why take the jack down?

Someone is less likely to steal a cinder block than a jack. Plus, if you leave the jack, that makes it easier to get the other three wheels and tires.

M'kay, I'm probably one of the last people on earth likely to be offended by much that could be said about MLK.
That said however ... I'm struggling to think that anyone -- even a small town weekly paper -- could miss the obvious potential complications of posting a fried chicken recipe "in honor of Dr. King's love of traditional southern cooking". Am I nuts here? Or is that just over the line stupid? (FTR, I don't think the intent was nefarious, it just felt incredibly naive to think it wouldn't be perceived as such)

Heh. I had these exact thoughts when considering giving my girls their own gmail accounts so they could get into Minecraft and such. I knew further down the line, it'd be helpful for them to have a "traditional" email address that looks good on a resume rather than "pixiegirl" or whatever. So they got addresses based off their names. |

This is the exact reason I hate that someone is judged off something as arbitrary as their email address. People create an email address when they are usually very young. |

What kind of fucked up joke is it that taking an SSRI for anxiety can actually severely worsen anxiety in the short term before it starts to work? This is not fun.

For FOFC'ers who are fans of old radio dramas (surely there are at least a few ... right)?
A series that was unfamiliar to me - The Six Shooter - recently debuted on SiriusXM ch 82. Lasted only one season '54-'55 and starred Jimmy Stewart as drifting cowboy Britt Ponset. The man in the saddle is angular and long-legged. His skin is sun-dyed brown. The gun in his holster is gray steel and rainbow mother-of-pearl, its handle unmarked. People call them both "the Six Shooter". Above average fare, even if at times Stewart feels like he's playing himself playing a cowboy rather than losing us in the character. It holds up better, I think, because 40 yrs later we can all easily visualize him in the role and in the situations.

I'm a little unnerved today. One of the mousetraps in the garage just disappeared. Nobody said they moved it or touched it. So now I'm imagining some mouse dragging it all around the garage with it stuck to it's leg or something. I'm sure it'll turn up at the most inopportune time.

Feeling bittersweet tonight. After over a year, I've just finished reading my boys the last Calvin and Hobbes strip. What a wonderful ride to have gone on with them. We are all sad that it's ended. I hope they remember it as fondly as I do.

So... what would you think/do if somebody sent you an email titled "ready for action" with a photo of a woman at home staring down the barrel of an assault rifle (appears to be an M4) attached? Adding to the hilarity is that this is clearly a work email address it was sent from.

week later followup, my reaction over the last week is apparently considered "quite rare", to the point that my doctor thinks its possibly a bit dangerous to even attempt to try any of the other meds in this class of drugs. Stopping it, but it'll take a little while to get out of my system. Looking forward to feeling like myself again. I have a newfound and increased respect and sympathy for those who suffer from depression, as one of the side effects I experienced were occasional deeply depressive/dark/intruisive thoughts. I cannot begin to imagine having that stuff rattling around my head on any sort of a regular basis. Last edited by Radii : 01-27-2015 at 12:27 PM. |

Absolutely sucks that you went through that, here's to it passing a.s.a.p. Now, that said, depending upon the specific drug it may not be so "quite rare". A short-term study showed as many as 15% of patients experienced some degree of increased anxiety in the first four weeks. Point being, I guess, it ain't just you or something. (It's kind of a "thing" apparently)

Yeah, the anxiety part of it is a thing that happens, though to the level that I experienced it (and still am to a degree) it seems pretty scary if that is common. I mentioned dark and depressive thoughts at times in my last post, which is beating around the bush to avoid using the dreaded phrase "suicidal thoughts". Never a serious risk, always a clear understanding that it wasn't real, etc, but something I felt like was *just* close enough that I had to pay attention to it and make sure I had a plan to stay safe in case things went in a bad direction. Some of this may get revisited in a few months, but it'll be with a specialist, not primary care doc. Not that I think the primary care doc fucked up, but if I go down this road again it'll be with someone who does this entirely as their job. |

The phrase, as I recall it, is actually "suicidal ideations" Attempt at dark humor aside, it's a horribly lousy thing to go through & I'm glad you were on top of it, conscious of the reason for it & the whole bit.

Note to those that are constantly checking, texting or sexting on their smart phones while driving on the expressways... your crappy stop start breaking and tremendous following distance to the vehicle in front of you are dead giveaways to the fact that you are more concerned about your darn phone than the safety of those around you. Please be courteous and put down your phone. We can tell the phone idiots from the rest of us idiots.

I just hate bad drivers in general.
I dont care if its because your texting or just stupid. I drive a freaking 8,000 lb truck. 10 times a day I deal with morons usually, in a Prius or other such shit box, swapping lanes right in front of me as we approach a stop light or other back up. I plan ahead, leave plenty of room for mechanical failure or whatever may happen and then idiots change the equation. Just once I want to just plow through these folks for principle. |

I walked by a poodle leaving Publix when I went to buy ribs today. Evidently it was a service dog. This has gotten out of hand. As someone who is having an occasional recurrence of severe panic attacks, I'm tempted to register my terrier as an emotional support dog out of spite.
