So why the hell do you tackle from behind in that situation? Just stupid.

I'm not sure who is more idiotic at this point, the refs or the American team.

I agree. When you're up with a referee as strict as this one, then you have to adjust to make sure you don't end up in trouble - ESPECIALLY if you're already booked!

The stretcher doesn't mean that somebody is injured. They brought in the stretcher to stop players being treated for minor injuries on the field and holding up the game. Thats why you see people carried off and recover, being stretchered off doesn't mean a snapped leg or worse, like it used to.

We went from being a goal down, to getting an own goal for the tie, to being up a man with a good chance to get 3 pts., now we are down a man hoping to save a tie

Can't agree on that part: do agree he should still be on the field though. And do agree the Italians go to ground too easily.

FIFA is so in bed with Italy. That is just terrible.
Tim, I understand you support the US team. I like them as well and I'm a fan of Mastroeni. On the other hand, with this post, you make yourself seems REALLY foolish. You definitely owe Matthijs an apology.

Who wants to bet this game is going to be decided by an Italian diving in the box and drawing a penalty kick?

How does anybody seriously watch this stuff and NOT figure out that it's rigged?

I mean, all that's missing is for FIFA to adjust their name to add the word "entertainment" like the WWE.

Seriously, this is the biggest event in soccer..or football..or whatever you want to call it. How come they can't find referees who can differentiate the difference between a flop and an actual foul? I hate it when soccer becomes an acting competition. It's just insane.

10 v 9 is confusing the Italians. They don't know what to do when they have to attack.

It's because the players are very good at flopping. It can be hard to see at full speed if real or not.

But I think it's safe to say that if you can run back onto the field two minutes later, that you didn't need to be carted off on the stretcher. You've never seen a football player get carted off and only miss a single play.

They could, you know, act like men instead of 8 year old schoolgirls in uniform and walk their bruised ego to the sideline for treatment.

You can't lose McBride, we need a head to hit it to. We can't take a defender, we're down a man (and who else do you bring in?). Dempsey is the only logical choice based on experience, but he's the only dangerous player

Nevermind, the Bease is on. 5 bucks says we give up a goal in 2 minutes.

The thinking is that getting them on a stretcher is quicker, doesn't give them the chance to hobble slowly and kill time.
