Conference USA had alot to do with it. I do not care what anyone says, but you just can not get ready for this level of basketball by beating up on Rice and SMU. But, there are some things you can not control and that is one of them.

I like our chances against UCLA. Anything can happen, but if we bring the same game we brought today, I think the odds are with us. And who knows, maybe our jump shots finally show up in the Final Four? I can hope at least.

Yes, someone had to win. UCLA had an incredible defense. They have improved and it is obvious they were battle tested. Good luck in Indy.

Man, hope nobody was interested in seeing UCLA celebrate a little bit or seeing the game analyzed. CBS ended tonight's coverage extremely abruptly.

Then again, reaaaaaally ugly game. Not much to say.

I don't think I'd seen a complete UCLA game before the tourney started since they played Michigan, and I have to say that I was shocked at how much they have improved.

Well, we clearly needed to see MORE Neil Patrick Harris this week.

Uhm no, but it isn't fair that it was so close to the number 2 team. I am bored, so i did some research. From UConn to D.C. is 7 hours. From Duke to Atlanta is 7 hours. From Villanova to Minn is 18 hours. From Memphis to Oakland is 32 hours. And yet UCLA to Oakland is 6 hours. I am by no mean saying this is why Memphis lost. I just think this is an interesting fact.

The NCAA tries to reward higher ranked seeds by placing them somewhere close to their region. Memphis was the fourth 1 seed and UCLA was the best 2 seed. It's how it stacks up.

And George Mason is a whopping 20 miles from their home in Fairfax, VA.

Memphis was given the #1 seed on paper. UCLA was given the #1 seed in theory.

It works out that way this time. Just more luck of the draw. UCLA was in Oakland when they won it back in 95

Hey, you shouldnt worry about it. Memphis wasnt. From the genius that is Joey Dorsey

Quote:
When UCLA was watching our game (against Bradley on Thursday), I know they were hoping they wouldn't play us," Dorsey said. "We saw them at the Garden, we saw the looks on their faces, and it looked like they didn't want to play us again. ... We know we can play on the road. It's not a bother to us."

They do? Even the most hard core ACC fans realize how down a year it was this year for the conference as a whole. Expect an ACC team in the final four next year. It's rare to go 2 years in a row without one

To top it off, Howand just mentioned that he received permission from Walt Hazzard to let a kid use his number. The number is 42 and that just happens to be the name of a Top Post player from Oregon, Kevin Love

This happens every year there isn't a #1 seed out west. One of the best teams out west(often Arizona/UCLA) gets the 2 seed or 3 seed and ends up playing an east coast team in salt lake or phoenix or california.

Damn, there was some other conference that people kept telling me was awesome. It also had 4 bids, somewhere in the midwest. I think it was the Kansas Valley... no, the Missouri Peak... no... damn. Oh well.

Geez. What a shitty played game by both UCLA and Memphis. The crowd was about 90% UCLA fans and 10% Memphis. I think LSU should have little problem getting to the championship game.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you here, king. Like Kyle said, one game doesn't characterize a team. UCLA played an ugly game, but they still won. Memphis is not a pushover team. They have serious talent, and I would not at all be surprised if we were tonight talking about Memphis making the Final Four. That said, UCLA is a better team than LSU on paper. Does that matter? Not at all. Duke was a better team than LSU on paper, but LSU took them to the woodshed. It's going to be a game that will feature amazing defense on both sides, and I won't be shocked if either team wins. UCLA needs to hit their free throws, and shoot decently to win, or at least you would think. They did neither or those things tonight, yet they still won.

UCLA's improvement between the beginning of the season and now is just unbelievable, and is a testament to how much things can change from November to March. They have completely bought into Howland's system, and it reminds me of how the Stanford program went skyward with Montgomery. I would not be surprised to see UCLA win multiple titles in the next decade. This coach makes me jealous.

Boy this thread continues its string of people doubting LSU and we keep stepping up, its reverse mojo!

Personally, I think LSUs run was fueled by GoldenEagle laughing LSU before I even mentioned them on this thread, simply because I doubted Memphis a little. I don't think he is laughing at us anymore.

Hopefully people everywhere keep doubting us, and the team keeps hearing it, because we seem to play much better as the underdogs.

This is a Trojan fans nightmare. The two schools they hate the most. And I love it.

I think Tigercat feels the same way I do. No one expected such young teams to make it this far and while we are hoping for more, what has been accomplished thusf ar is just amazing. I think that Howland probably won COTY but LSU's coach is probably runner up

At first, I thought you were talking about CBS coverage. Because they're just waiting for these guys to lose, so they go on and gush about UConn some more.

I really hope GMU pulls the win out. It was just be great to have them crashing the party in Indy and a fitting way to cap off this post-season.

LSU was an 11-seed in 1986, that's the last lowest seed to make it.
