Indiana. It'll be a cold day in hell before they take basketball away from elementary sports in this state.

Edit: The school sanctions basketball, track, and archery. Through youth programs locally, there's also football, baseball, and soccer.

A decent amount of schools here have developmental hockey in the elementary schools that piggyback off the HS teams.

K-2 level, roughly 6 to 8 years old (equivalent of mites in amateur/travel teams) do not keep score.
3-4 level, 9 and 10 years old (equivalent to squirts), do keep score.

Grilling some skinny pork chops today and one slipped through the grates and down into the drippings catcher. So that one was lost.

Cleaned the grill after using and wait for it to cool down before I fished out the chop.

Look in the grill, there's a fucking field mouse sitting on the pork chop.

What the hell.

It takes no effort to keep bacon around, especially if they're using the semi-cooked stuff that's already laid out on sheets.

I dunno what they're using, but they've got nothing else on the menu that makes me go "oooh I've got to go there" so I'll just do something else equally as convenient for my post-workout weekend snack.

People raved about Prince on SNL, so I took a look. Saw a little more of the Ralph Fiennes movie Voldemort than I was comfortable with, to be totally honest. Performance was fine, I guess, but I was weirded out a bit.

Prince could take a six minute long shit into a bucket and people would think it was the greatest thing ever. One more thing that I've never understood. Had a coworker who was completely neurotically obsessed with him but other than that was a perfectly normal person. Each to their own.

The run time of Purple Rain was actually 111 minutes.

I personally think Prince is one of the most talented...and amazingly inconsistent artists of all time. His work from, say Dirty Mind to Around the World in a Day is genius (IMO) - 5 years of incredible work. His work in the 30 years since? Really hit or miss.

8" minutes of songs I don't give a fuck about" was my initial impression.

Now if it was anything written before about 2000 I'd be down, pretty much any of those songs.

So I like prince as much or more than most, but holy shit that movie. I just watched it again, some awesome man on female ray rice type violence and there's some huge 3rd act problems.

I'm so glad I was able to vote two weeks ago. And not even just by mail - there's something about the in-person voting experience I prefer if I don't have to wait in line.

Oddly enough, in-person early here has experienced longer lines than in-person Tuedsays lately. Having only a single county-wide location for early voting in person seems to be the culprit.

RE: Prince

For all the hype about his performance google play shows no singles of his in the top 100 and one album at 49. His people should have recognized this and got the records out there at like $3.99 or $5.99 this week. $10.49 only works if you're Beyonce, Adele or Taylor Swift

About 50% of the Subway restaurants I eat at give me a case of diarrhea afterward eating a sandwich (I always order a "Spicy Italian"). I have stopped eating at all Subways due to this.

Have you considering your choice of sandwich rather than venue?

Wait a couple of days after you boil them. But who has the patience for that? Just find the skin underneath the shell and use it as your guide to take off the shell.

There's some martha stewart egg method that people swear by. I'd google that. Basically just bring to a boil, then lid for 10 minutes and turn off heat. Then dunk straight into icewater.

Other consultant I'm working with wants shit done but provides about 1/2 of the information needed across multiple emails and then wonders why shit isn't getting done. It's like, uh, be fucking specific and be concise and maybe shit would get done faster.

Now wants me to work this weekend because she can't manage client expectations. When I told her that wasn't happening, she said I could take it up with her boss. She's a 3rd party contractor. I told her I don't work for her boss and that they've been hired by my company. She didn't much like that.

Age the eggs first. Don't buy and boil immediately. Buy and wait 1-2 weeks before boiling them. They will peel MUCH easier.

Found a 15 year old web site of mine. It was for a game I was making, but it also a C++ learning blog (before "blogs" were a thing). Looking at it now, it's one giant embarrassment. I was cringing at the stuff I wrote back then, and anyone who knew what the fuck they were doing probably did the same if they ever read it back then. Worst part is, I can just imagine what a potential employer might have thought if they googled me after an interview and saw it...

I got access to it tonight and deleted everything. At least it can't hurt me anymore.

Washington state went all mail a few years back. I felt the same as you originally because I really liked the whole experience of voting in person.

But you know what? Voting by mail is the shit. I would not want to live anywhere now that doesn't do that. I'm under the impression that turnout has been higher since then as well but don't quote me on that.

Oregon has been all mail for I dunno how long (Google says '98) and we consistently hit 60-70% turnout (69.5 last week), which is a truly massive difference over the national average (36.6 last week).

I've often wondered what our household internet usage was with 5 fairly heavy users in the house. When I switched out my router the new one had a usage tracker so I could finally see.

Last month we downloaded 901.8GB of data. Through seven full days this month its 385.3 GB. I'm so glad there aren't caps on this stuff yet. I'm curious what the typical household averages in download usage?

USPS, you have some explaining to do. Just exactly why is the $600+ item I purchased being returned to sender? And why did I pay for Priority Express Mail when you're obviously incompetent fools.
