Personally, I can't hold it against the Zags for letting the emotion spill out at the end, even when the game wasn't over. They knew they had blown it. This game was all heart, everyone on the floor putting in their all, leaving nothing behind. You could just tell this game was insanely intense, and the emotion was riding high.

I have to take my hat off to the Zags, because they played one heck of a game. IMO, Gonzaga only did a little to lose this one--UCLA took that little and won it, with guts and heart.

The teams will play it out on the court, best team wins. Try and take things a little lighter until then, huh? It's okay to NOT take offense at every little jibe at Memphis.

After seeing both games tonight in person. There is no chance that UCLA beats Memphis on Saturday if Memphis goes to a zone.

UCLA had absolutely no clue on how to break down a zone and I can't remember a team that shot poorer from the outside.

Yeah, I sympathize with Gonzaga as a whole, but if I am an NBA GM, I am not real eager to hand the keys to my franchise to that kid after tonight's display, and frankly after his performance in the entire tournament. He's got a screw loose. Intensity is one thing, but punching yourself in the face repeatedly after a close win over a 14 seed is another. And then you have the complete inability to make one effing clutch shot for your team followed by a good on-court cry two rounds later. Trouble ahead.

Oh and did Afflolo throw a punch at Morrison on that "And 1"? They didn't show a replay in the arena.

My comment was not on the 'defensive' side. I was just stating a fact. Memphis beat UCLA. It does not matter when it was. Are they going to beat them again? Who knows.

I understand UCLA was in a tight game, but the game is over with. There is no sense and trying to make any drama here.

Memphis does not play in a zone defense. They are long and atheltic and will cut off the passing lanes. UCLA will have to make the outside shots to beat Memphis. They will not get the ball inside without risking a turnover everytime.

"We had control of that game for most of the game," Morrison said. "It just happened in a blur. We just had a few mistakes and you have to take your hat off to UCLA."

J.P. Batista missed a desperation 15-footer at the buzzer and fell into the Zags' bench, where coach Mark Few helped him up.

When the buzzer sounded, UCLA senior Cedric Bozeman ran around the court with the ball in his hands — Ryan Hollins right with him.

"Ah man. No words to explain it," UCLA guard Darren Collison said. "We just played hard and showed some heart down the stretch. It's my first comeback ever. That's why I feel so great."

Hollins and Afflalo went to help up Morrison, who was spread on the floor at midcourt. Few then came to hug the crying Morrison.

"That's just a sign of a great program and great people," Morrison said. "They had enough guts as a man in their moment of victory to pick another man up off the floor. That's more than basketball and I would thank them if I could."

Sounds like Morrison might have too much class for the NBA...

He gave him an elbow after Morrison yanked his arm. But Afflalo was the first person to go to Morrison after the game was over

So if I call Memphis a rent a school for HS to NBA players, you wont mind? Or if your coach probably pays his kids more then he gets paid, you wont mind?

Actually, Bug can take his homerism a bit too far, often so far that I, as a fellow UCLA fan, cringe when he does it. I don't like to see proclamations we'll win on Saturday anymore than you do.

But you're such an easy person to goad for this sort of childish spat when the issue is Memphis, I don't even know how I resist it myself. Bear in mind, I'm not talking about anything else you have opinions on. From what I have seen, on everything else you're a stand up guy. But when it's the U of M, you gut-clench if anyone says anything the slightest bit negative or suggests that they could be anything less than #1. Honestly, give it a rest. Enjoy the build up over the next two days, and let's go play it out on the court.

For the record, I think Memphis is going to beat UCLA on Saturday, and maybe going away.

I can tell, u that UCLA will be playing what basically amounts to a home game on Saturday. They easily had the most fans there today and I'm sure Saturday will be the same.

UCLA probably shouldnt have a shot on Saturday, but we werenot supposed to go this far this year so it's all gravy if we lose.

I got killed tonight.

I have found this, from the beginning, the least entertaining tournament there was. Low upsets on day 1, real big name schools not in the sweet 16, just a lackluster tourney going INTO tonight IMO.

With that said, Duke losing, despite screwing my bracket, was fun.

Memphis doesn't have a chance against UCLA, imo. Bruins haven't brought their A-game once in this tourney. I think they win the whole thing. Can I change my bracket now?

Bosshog, I completely disagree with your take on the tournament not being entertaining this year.

Round 1 upsets: #3 Iowa, #4 Kansas, #5 Syracuse, #6 Michigan State, #5 Montana, #6 Oklahoma
Round 1 near-upsets: #4 BC, #1 UConn, #2 Tennessee

I thought the 2nd round games were awfully good as well, with #1 seeds UConn and Villanova both being pushed by traditionally strong #8 seeds. The Illinois/Washington game was compelling, even if I hated the outcome. Seeing Gonzaga take down Indiana with Morrison being way off his game. Watching #2 seeds Tennessee and Ohio State getting taken down. Watching George Mason and the MVC teams advancing into the Sweet 16.

The two games last night had dynamite endings. And I'm pumped about Florida/Georgetown and Villanova/BC tonight.

All in all, I've been very satisfied with the tournament so far this year.

It would be awesome if Nova lost to BC. Two number one seeds down, three Naismith award nominees out... What a tournament

The officiating in this Nova/BC game is getting worse by the minute, and its approaching damned pathetic.

Note to the remaining teams:

Don't get a big lead against a higher seed. You will inevitably blow it.

Didn't even realize Pac-10 teams could play basketball.

According to the media, any team in the Big East, Big Ten and ACC should just waltz right throuigh anybody especially any west coast team.

They did win a championship 9 years ago. The conferences you mentioned have won 7 of the 8 since then (Kentucky won the other.)
