Actually, that's what Green-Ellis was signed for. In-house legal defense.

They go hand in hand. The Law Firm works with the players in court, while the new "scout" handles them after prison.

I mean, I'm sure the guy who's slated to be 4th on the Packers' depth chart at OT would love an opportunity to go elsewhere if it meant the possibility of more playing time. But I don't see any of those guys demanding a trade/release when the Packers sign an OL guy to compete with him for playing time.

Poor Drew Stanton. He gets no respect from Ksyrup.

Luckily, he gets some from the Colts! The Jets traded him to the Colts for some low round pick, so now Stanton is the #2 guy behind Luck. Good luck, Drew!

First Orlovsky and now Stanton, Indianapolis is a haven for former Detroit Lions 3rd string QBs.

Bengals have re-signed DT Pat Sims.

The off-season has shaped very nicely. There are still needs at guard, potentially MLB, safety and #2 WR.

I'm still hoping for my dream first round of Kuelchy and DeCastro at 17 and 21.

Which is a shame, because that thirty pieces of silver Denver got in the deal is already earmarked to beef up the secondary.

Yes unfortunately the ex-steelers my beloved Cards take are usually ex-good too. Gay wasn't particularly good to begin with in this case either

(seriously. look at those career lines.)

First 3 years:
Mark Sanchez: 55.3% Comp, 9209 yards, 55 TD, 51 INT, 73.2 rating
Eli Manning: 54.1% Comp, 8049 yards, 54 TD, 44 INT, 73.2 rating

I am not saying Sanchez will be Eli, but the guy is 25, can we give him some time? Rex Grossman has a decade of ineptitude on his resume.

I hope the Saints don't try to get Bill Parcells out of retirement when the real answer to be their interim head coach is Jim Mora Sr.

We need more rants.

I think Payton is trying to find someone so old that they won't be able to hold the job long-term, making it easier for him to return in 2013.

The problaem is Eli only started 7 games his first season for a team that wasn't very good, which skew the numbers. Sanchez started for a team that had a championship caliber defense.

If you compare their first 3 years as starters Elis numbers trend better.

That being said I agree you have to give Sanchez more time and his numbers seem to have improved each year.

Another thing to factor in is the running game isn't as good as when he was a rookie.

2009
Rushing Yards: 2,756
Average: 4.5
TO: +1
Rushing First Downs: 132
Passing First Downs: 131
Sacks: 32
TD%: 3.3
INT%: 5.5

2010
Rushing Yards: 2,374
Average: 4.4
TO: +9
Rushing First Downs: 118
Passing First Downs: 171
Sacks: 40
TD%: 3.4
INT%: 2.6

2011
Rushing Yards: 1,692
Average: 3.8
TO: -3
Rushing First Downs: 92
Passing First Downs: 173
Sacks: 35
TD%: 4.8
INT%: 3.3

I think what people get stuck on isn't his lack of numbers, but the boneheaded INTs he throws that kill games.

EDIT: The Jets had a 12 point swing in terms of TOs last year. Not all of that can be pinned on Sanchez.

Interesting. I really liked the backup runningbacks in SF with Hunter and Dixon. I guess Dixon is probably done in SF now. Jacobs I would guess would be the short yardage/goal line back, while Hunter will probably be the passing down back.

Dixon sucked.

Jacobs will be a big upgrade over him.

Hunter will still likely get used as a change of pace back and in the return game.

I say start a bounty system on the player equipment. You aren't trying to hurt the players, just break into pieces their helmets and pads.

I really liked Dixon out of college (his ability, not his attitude), and after his rookie pre-season I was really impressed. But his 3.3 YPA in the NFL so far puts him firmly into the suckage category.

Reports claim the Browns are eyeing up Ryan Tannehill of Texas A&M with the 4th overall pick. I really think QBs are becoming completely overrated in the draft. I mean the Vikings took Ponder whom many thought was a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick in the top half of the first round. Tannehill by most opinions is at best a mid first round pick.

I wonder if NFL teams have forgetten that it is possible to win games without top 5 qbs. The past 2 years and the reaching for QBs has gotten ridiculous.

Tannehill is the definition of a project. He started out at A&M as a wide receiver, and only started at QB halfway through his junior year. His senior year was nothing to write home about. I'm stunned teams would consider him high in the first round.

McNabb continues to show his intelligence. Why can't he just accept that he was in a great system in Philly and wasn't smart enough to learn another offense? When your backups can come in and run your offense as well as you, you know you're expendable.

Tebow was a 3rd/4th rounder that went in the 1st only to be dumped later for late round picks. Teams make dumb decisions. I honestly don't see a fourth overall in Tannehill. I forget who, but their line of thinking for determining a NFL starting QB was number of starts and completion percentage. Tannehill fails horribly for number of starts. His senior year completion percentage went down to 61.5%. His best year was his junior year with 65%. RGIII was doing 65.2% as a sophomore and went up from there.

There is also this.
Shurmur watches Richardson, not Tannehill - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN

Yes, others in the Browns organization went to see Tannehill, but the one making the call for who gets picked was elsewhere. Tannehill feels more like a 2nd rounder to me. If the Browns want to keep plugging in a new QB without building around him, they will just remain where they are at.

Yeah, I hate to sound cliche but picking the best player available, at a position where you dont already have a Pro Bowl calibur player, is still the best strategy to me. You can win 10+ games in the NFL & make the playoffs with a mediocre QB. And if you're REALLY good at defense and/or running the football, you might have a shot at more.

The Browns should be looking at lots of positions with their pick. But reaching with the #4 pick is absolutely stupid. Take the best C in the draft...or the best OLB...or RG...or whatever. At least they will be solid for a number of years until you can get the right free agent or future draft pick at QB.

Indeed. Not to mention he was throwing to some of the best WRs in the country. This certainly seems like a reach.

I'd guess Tannehill goes #3, especially if it becomes apparent that the Browns will take him. I'd say the Vikings could stand to drop down several spots, especially if they are getting a high #2 pick.

Man, second tier QB's have been sky rocketing the last couple years to QB needy teams. Last year Gabbert and Ponder went way too high and this year looks to be Tannehill and maybe Wheedon.

I hope so. I don't have confidence that Spielman would be able to do anything with the additional picks, but it'd be better than taking Kalil at #3 if he's the pick.

The hype around Joss is just way overblown. He won't make it in the NFL. Might be an intriguing story line though.
