Yeah, me and Lathum might need to turn ourselves in.

I got genuinely excited last night when my favorite HSN model was on for like 10 seconds modeling skinny jeans. This is where things stand right now.

There's a lot of TV stations who could replace their current traffic (and sometimes sales) department with blindfolded drunken monkeys & it'd be a major upgrade.

"My go-to-hell button has been pushed" is an off the cuff phrase that I think I may keep in my repertoire.

At least something good came from work today.

So.. we have an Amber Alert eminating from about an hour away from here (Fitchburg, MA). And I agree with the system, but let's put it this way.

The Amber Alert emergency tone (which is just like the emergency tone on the TV) went off three times before I fell asleep, then it went off again at 4 am, and then again at 6 am, waking me up both times. And let me tell you, waking up to the emergency tone being played at full volume is one fucking awful way to wake up.

The second time, I had just enough wits about me to NOT throw the phone against the nearest wall (it's new), but to shut it off. Unfortunately, now I can't get back to sleep.

I just buy a whole one anyway. The Pizza Hut here in Okemos went out to my surprise. I thought the next closest one would be getting hurt by the Ci Ci's that came in but then that went out due to them not paying rent despite packing people in.

I have had abdominal pain for about 2 months, it just recently got to the point I went to the drs.

He thinks it might be diverticulitis but I have a CT tomorrow to ensure it's nothing major.

Slightly stressed..

Totally randomly, I just google'd "lower left quadrant pain causes" and diverticulitis was the first hit that came up. I've been having pain under/near my abdominal incision for the last month or so, it's getting to a point where I think I should bring it up to someone, though I'm not sure who (my primary care? my orthopaedic surgeon who made the cut? the infectious disease doc who's treating my infection?).

Hope it's nothing major for ya!

That plus making sure that no app ever starts no matter what (by making sure acrobat starts over PDF app, VLC starts over their video player, etc) and I've been 100% happy with Win8.

It's just insane to me that you have to use programs that make it function like a previous version.

I don't disagree at all, but once you have win8, might as well make it work as cleanly as possible for you

McKerney linked Start8, its a $5 program (can try it free for a month) that makes your desktop function like Windows 7. Its got a lot of config stuff but all I do is just tell it to make my desktop function like Windows 7. Alternatively, Classic Shell is free. I tried it first and quickly switched to Start8 though. Yes, its ridiculous that you might need to pay for a program to make your desktop feel usable, but once you have a PC with Windows 8, it is 100% worth $5 to make your life easier.

For the apps: Make Windows Media Player the default audio player in Windows 8 | PCWorld

You can do the same for .pdf files or any other apps that are dogshit and open when you don't want them to. There's a way to change the defaults when you open an individual file as well (like an mp3).

These were my two problems when I got Win8... the start menu is awful and these stupid apps are awful. And again, yeah its really crappy by Microsoft that you need to do this, but if you have Windows 8, doing so doesn't take very long and will make you much, much happier.

There was a lightning storm Friday night. A bolt hits extremely close to the house. We only lose power in the matter bedroom.

However, my daughter has a toy cash register that is sitting in the middle of the living room. Runs on batteries, doesn't plug in. It turns on by itself. That's weird, right?

Yeah, I don't eat a ton of nut except for Peanut Butter (Extra Crunchy) and that is a once a month thing if that.

My diet has shifted to a borderline Paleo diet with fresh greens, light cuts of meat / poultry / fish....my weakness is pasta and rice, I am trying to slowly work them out.

She had to have a large portion of her intestines removed and now has a colostomy bag.

The flip side is she is in much better health, looks and feels better, and once she got past the mental hurdle of having the bag she is glad to be done with the ordeal.

Hers is also the result of a heart transplant so is likely an extreme scenario.

several years ago, we had a storm knock out power. we were upstairs and wanted to go downstairs to check on our son. we were in the middle of a remodel and the house was all rearranged so we were really disoriented and it was pitch black until one of the huge bolts of lightning light up the house - typical creepy haunted house stuff. we get downstairs, get to my son's room (he's sound asleep). just when we think all is well, another strike hits and from the kitchen we hear "hello". we both froze, completely panicked - everyone in the house was accounted for. we heard it again. and then a playful laugh. Just as I'm trying to gauge the distance to the knife rack, it goes off one more time: "la la". It was the kids' Teletubby doll - you press the belly and it talks. The lightning (or the thunder) was setting it off. Funny in retrospect, but creepy at the time.

So a few months ago, I was psyched to get tickets to the "Book of Mormon" when it swings by Atlanta. We got the Sunday night show because it was marginally cheaper and there were some decent seats for the 4 of us (me, my girlfriend, and two other friends).

I just realized like a week ago that our tickets are the night of the SuperBowl. The show starts at like 6:30PM. The think that surprised me is that I was just like "oh well" with regards to missing the Super Bowl. A very different reaction than I would have had even 5 years ago.

I'm going on the 25th, by then we'll know the Superbowl matchup. I'll let you know which one you should see.
