It didn't show up until the 1st, at which point we returned it. Not sure if Mrs SR took to a UPS store, or hand delivered to the UPS guy.

Assuming he was instructed to deliver it at the back door the first time.

Big day...just sent out an execution version of a contract to a MONSTER new client. Terms are already agreed and it's been reviewed by legal, so they will sign it.

If it ends up as best-case scenario, after all the work is done on it (we're talking years and years of work...5-? for sure I imagine), could be it.

I can only imagine my dad here. He'd tell everyone what a dumbass they are, be generally complain loudly, and we'd be out the door before noon.

I am too damn old to be staying up til 3:30 am playing computer games on work nights. Gone are the days when could be functional on two and a half hours of sleep. I just hope I can keep a low profile for the rest of the day.

I should know better. But I don't.

Yes. I can't stand them, and Jeremy needs to stay on the lam. I'd run from those people too.

Why yes, it did totally slip my mind that both the banks and the post office were closed today.

Anyone use Craigslist since they changed over to the new mail system? Not sure if it's just me but feels like everything goes ridiculously slow with it.

I'm trying really hard not to be mad at my wife. We have an 8 month old puppy. He recently dug up a small patch of carpet in my sons playroom. Nothing major and when you adopt a puppy you expect these sort of things.

Now like any other puppy, he gets into plenty of stuff, especially if we arent constantly watching him. Well, my wife decided to go upstairs this morning to change the baby and left the puppy downstairs. He proceeded to tear up a very large patch of carpet, this time in our living room.

I wanted nothing more than to ask my wife why she left him unattended, given he is a puppy and is prone to stuff like this. I didn't sine I know she is already annoyed about it and feels bad. Me berating her will only make it worse and accomplish nothing, but man, I am fuming over her lack of judgement.

Our house is also a new construction, less than a year old, and with a puppy and 2 kids under 4 it is aging much faster than I would like.

Time to find a carpet repair place to see if they can fix it.

Heh. Yeah, we have two kids, four cats, and a fairly old dog that has been having issues with going recently. Our carpets need to be completely overhauled. It's been the case for a while, but no use in doing it now.

Yeah, kids and dogs, you'll just be repainting and replacing carpet once the kids hit, I dunno, maybe their teens? Not worth doing before then.

One thing that helps is find toys the puppy likes to chew on, and keep him plenty supplied. I buy new toys about every other month to keep them interested, and if I go too long something gets destroyed.

Exactly. She's aware she screwed up. You piling on does nothing but get you more upset at each other, or worse, makes her feel tons worse about herself. Why would you do that to your wife, just to let out steam. Find some other, more constructive vent for your anger (complaining here maybe even works, hopefully).

LOL, you make it sound like I was going to beat her. In the scheme of things it is a minor annoyance and like you said, I was just coming here to vent.

My health is declining pretty quickly and I don't want to just disappear from the cyberworld one day, so I choose to end my cyber existence on my own terms. No more crappy posts from me. I bet that's a relief!

I'm sorry to hear this, BE. I hope you are wrong and you will be back. But if not, know that you have had an impact here, and I will miss you being around.

I hope it won't be the last time we hear from you, and good luck.

I suck at both negotiating, and home improvement, so it's a pretty great feeling for me to actually go through the bidding and estimate process on something, and see the price just continue to fall, and fall, just based on me mentioning the other estimates, offering to pay in cash, sending emails around.

Does anyone else get unnaturally excited or relieved when the soap slips out of their hands in the shower, yet you manage to catch it before it falls to the floor?

I might as well have just cured AIDS for how giddy I get.

I attended a funeral today, and it was in the same cemetery where Lee Harvey Oswald is buried. With tomorrow being the 50th anniversary, there were quite a few people there looking for his grave. It was kind of surreal.

Any mundane feat of hand-eye coordination is a treat. I dropped my cereal bowl this morning (with nothing in it) and caught it before it shattered on the ground. Success.

So I was at my night job (serving) about a week ago, and was about to take an order for a table. We wear a short apron around our waist to carry our order book, pens, etc. It has three pockets, right to left. I keep my pens in the right pocket and my order book in the left.

So I'm taking an order, and I reach in and take out my order book and a pen. I somehow misgrabbed the pen as I pulled it out. It landed on my order book (held about chest high by this time) and rolled off to the left... and fell perfectly into the now vacant left pocket, through a hole that even Luke couldn't have shot womprats through.

This happened right in front of a table, and they didn't even notice. I actually asked them if they noticed. Then we all stared off into space, in wonder at the world around us. Okay, maybe not.

The update to Google Now is great!

It just prompted me with soccer transfer news, and since I told Google in my browser here at work that I wanted to be kept up to date on Dr. Who, more info on The Day of the Doctor.

There's nothing shameful about that on a night when it dipped below freezing. This morning when I didn't want to get out of bed, I told my wife "there are few things more comfortable in the world that being under a bundle of warm covers on a cold(-ish, it's still Houston) day"
