Went to my nephew's football game on Saturday. Watched 5 qtrs of football and saw 5 concussions, 4 ambulances.
My nephew's team has 15 players on it. 3 were out with concussions and 2 more got them in the game. They had to forfeit because they were left with 1 player under 120 lbs. I was shocked.

So...my son is 12.... And a big kid for his age. And a decent football player.
I just got a call from a rival high school's HEAD VARSITY FOOTBALL COACH asking me if he wanted to move to the area as he knew some good real estate options. This after justbsaturday another middle school coach asking him if he anted to move in with him...just seems crazy. He's a big 12 year old...but he's just an ok football player. He doesn't jump off the field at you by any stretch, yet. I almost hope we don't ever get into the high school recruiting drama. Of course the financial side of me just Hopes he gets that one offer early (and because I know I'll get asked...5'11" 185lbs size 14 shoe) Last edited by CU Tiger : 09-05-2013 at 06:22 PM. |

That's just the way it goes with kids.
My 10 year old daughter is 5'3 127lbs. She could stand to lose 10-15 and will during basketball season, but she's just a big strong kid.

My son, 13, is 5'6" and about 110, he has a 9 1/2 shoe. He is one of the taller kids in his class height wise.
He just started playing on the school FB team and will be a running back...go figure.

So coworker walks into bosses office, tells him he doesn't like his new role and he is done and they have to let him go.
My boss is dumbfounded, he has never had anyone walk into his office and basically say, fire me.

Oh absolutely, I don't think he can collect unemployment if he is fired and from the talk with my manager and the owner, it looks like that might happen. I am getting all of his accounts dumped into my lap right now and I am getting pissed the more it happens. The guys has been a horrendous account manager but a great inside sales guy, it's going to be recovery mode for me for the rest of the year.

If he quits he doesn't get unemployment...if he's fired he does. Hence why he's trying to get the company to fire him.

Company didn't fire him, told him he has to turn in a resignation letter. He did that and is now gone. Completely bizarre scenario. Now I am training a new account manager, working my accounts and I just picked up the bulk of his accounts / closed jobs to manage and foster / grow. Sigh...

I wonder ... d'ya think the market would respond to a line of "I'd Rather Be Hungover" t-shirts, caps, etc?
I'm thinking those could be a hit amongst soccer parents, swimming parents, gymnastics parents, etc etc. Maybe bumper stickers, they'd be all the rage in parking lots where parents are waiting to pick up kids after road games & such.

There's a number of variations on this particular theme, here's one that I used today in a discussion about radio formats, what constitutes "Classic" and my notion that basically "Classic Rock" = the new Oldies and Oldies = the new nostalgia format.
The Supremes "Where Did Our Love Go" is as far removed from today as Fred Astaire's "Cheek To Cheek" and Shirley Temple "Good Ship Lollipop" were from radio listeners in 1984.
