So actual elimination time in my nephew's baseball tourney at Cooperstown. Ranking is done by record and then runs given up. They got first overall out of 104 teams, and they were goofing off in their games by switching hitting, etc. after they got huge leads. If they win tonight they play at 9am tomorrow. Today's game is scheduled at 8:00pm. The game before them just got done at 10:10pm so at 10:20pm currently, they still haven't started.

Up 6-0 after 1. My nephew hit a homer. Hopefully they can mercy rule and get some shut eye.

There are a couple of them. Kmart and JCPenny have the two worst ones.

15-2 mercy ruled. You could see they shut down in the 3rd. There's potential for 3 games tomorrow.

Nephew pitched them to the championship game. I watched the scores of the other games so the last game should be rather good. Looks like the other team doesn't have as good of pitching, but they can hit the ball.

Cooperstown champs. 13-0 with a one hitter after 5. I think the only team they didn't mercy was in the semi-final. The announcers after the game said their starting pitcher was one of the most complete pitchers they had seen all season, and they are in week 11 of 13. It was the first Cooperstown title for the coach who has been coaching for awhile, and he made reference that one person can't joke about how he is the losingist coach in Cooperstown history anymore. It is awesome to just think of having that kind of an experience would be like for a kid.

Why is it my local hospital can save my life by installing a stent in under 2 hours, but after 7 days of effort I still can't get a refill of the pills they claimed I *must* take or I will die?

Patton Oswalt is trolling Twitter today and it's glorious. He's breaking up tweets in a way to make the second tweet appear offensive and idiots are totally getting outraged at the second tweets. Example:

Patton Oswalt@pattonoswalt 1h These idiots who deny that clumsy change is real, and a pressing threat are no different from misogynists who claim that

Patton Oswalt@pattonoswalt 1h Women enjoy rape. Grow the fuck up, all of you.

I still think Twitter is useless but this is quite funny:
"Our country's worth isn't in how many billionaires we produce or countries we conquer. History will judge use solely on how we tr"
"Eat the poor, disabled and hopeless. It's the only way we can insure our future."

EDIT: I read some more and most aren't very funny or clever, tho

I think they're funny and clever insofar as they get stupid people worked up and outraged. Reading the replies is like reading literallyunbelievable.com

I always thought the US was the fattest country. After reading an article on CNN about a teenage 1,345lb. man living in Saudi Arabia, I found the obesity percentages in Kuwait (42.8%) and Saudi Arabia (35.2%) interesting.

Looks like Level 10 is the end. Finally got questions on level 10 that weren't all time based.

I stumbled across a video of last night's Miley Cyrus trainwreck.
Dear me.

That wasn't titillating, it was just scary. Looks, sounds and acts like a crack whore.

Crap, the headline doesn't show up. HuffPo has debunked the Smith family pic. That was actually taken during Gaga's performance (but it's more innocent than it appears)

This isn't something I would have checked into myself, but I have a young roommate who seems to love this stuff, and he actually recorded the VMAs. So I got to watch Miley while doing a fantasy football draft.

I'll never get that wasted time back in my life. And I am convinced I drafted poorly during that performance as well.

When I watch Miley and I get disturbed I try and think to when I was a kid and a teenager and wonder if that's how my parents perceived what I was watching or listening to. Then I compare the music, which may have been largely bad, but at least it was musicianship. This is just.......I don't get it.

It's getting to the point where I think her next video should just be her spread eagle, smothering apricot jam on her body while she yells at her father.

Sometimes...

Client went to regulatory conference. Client came back convinced that we can't use the words "we believe we have a competitive advantage in XYZ" in response to a question asking "do you have a competitive advantage?" because the regulator is coming to come in, read all the questionnaires, and fine them for that.

Are you kidding me?

And that's just one example.

Yesterday, I was sent to get a single meter read from a large (700+) apartment complex. All of the meters are in closets interspersed throughout the underground parking garage. I was given no direction as to which closet I was supposed to be going to. After 20+ minutes of wandering around checking closets, I finally came to the one I needed. I opened the door...

...to find a co-worker in there reading the meters already. Hooray efficiency.

My parents bought me a bag of Reese's Peanut Butter footballs to celebrate football season. Maybe I'm late to the party on this, but they seem to be shaped an awful lot like eggs. How cheap does Reese's have to be to pull off this marketing stunt, reusing their Easter production line for this?

Well, I hope that's what they're doing, and not repackaging the ones they didn't sell back at Easter...

I chased a bobcat cub this afternoon. It was hanging outside our vacation condo. I thought it was just an oversized cat but I ran after it to confirm. It ran away under another building. About 15 minutes later it was hanging out with its mom out back.

That could have ended poorly for me. I'm now terrified to walk the dog at night.
