While I can't confirm this discount code, if you are looking to buy from Direct2Drive tonight or tomorrow morning, I saw this:

Cities XL is $4.99 on Steam til 7pm Eastern tonight, seems like a good deal. I liked the look of the first one even if the gameplay was a bit repetitive, so I'm sure I'll get 5 bucks worth out of this one.

Looks like they added a lot more provinces to the map and revamped the tech tree, just looking at the screen shots.
Right now I have Arsenal of Democracy on my comp but it's from Steam, would it work with a Gamer's Gate version of Iron Cross? |

That is correct. And if you don't own the first one, don't bother to buy it.

No....Warband is essentially a souped up version of the Mount and Blade. The gameplay and graphics are improved and they have included multiplayer. So think of it more as Mount and Blade 2.0.

So it's more like an expansion or a huge patch then? I'll need the first one to play it?

Hey CR, I've played them both and second what everyone is saying. Warband is just a loaded up version of the 1st one, and there is no reason at all to play the 1st one now. Warband is great and eats a lot of my playing time up.

Steel Panthers: World at War General’s Edition is one of my all time favorite tactical wargames. There is no better game at the tactical battle size, the "band of brothers" campaign is simply awesome as is also the random campaign generator.
I still play it from time to time as i prefer tactical wargames, where you order the units directly like a general than strategical wargames that are more about politics, industry etc like HOI.

Went and looked at Matrix and see the game is no longer updated and 800*600 is the largest resolution for the game At Shrapnel Games winSPWW2 is still updated and can run at 1600*1200 However some at Matrix board claim General's Edition blows away winSPWW2. I've watched the Shrapnel site for awhile hoping for a sale but have never pulled the trigger. Couple of questions for you or anyone here that have played SP. Have you played both games and are they really that different? I've played John Tiller Campaign Series off and on for years. How does SP compare to CS? FWIW not having "3d" is not an issue in SP if the game play is that much better than CS. In the end I may or may not buy but since the topic came up here it seemed a good place to ask. Just not sure I can justify to myself $35 for a game this old or if I even bought it where it would fit into my rotation. |

It was a text sim with action graphics, only the stats engine was buried under tons of poor GUI screens. It was really hard to see the ratings of players and in this type of game isn't that important? I trade in my copy within a few weeks while it was still worth money. Good idea since it's a $1 game now.
But hey for a buck, if you can get a good half hour's worth of gaming it's worth your money, hell that's a fraction of a Starbucks coffee and that doesn't last all that long. |

I finally have a computer that can play the Mass Effect games I missed out on by having a PS3, only to find that the second is cheaper than the first? Considering the first was on sale for 5 bucks recently, it is hard to bite the bullet and buy it for 20. So if anyone sees another sale on those games in the next week or so, please pass it along in here.

I guess 2 bucks is nothing, but I buy all these games for cheap, they generally don't get played much. It's the whole cheapass principle of the thing.

Steam is running a Halloween Holiday sale. It starts today and runs through November 1.
As per usual, every day there will be a slew of different games on sale from 50-75% off or so.

On Steam, it's listed as an RPG.
I think I always equate it with Dungeon Keeper because the theme is similar and you're a evil guy controlling minions against the good guys. That might be the only things they have in common, though. |

I just looked it up on IGN and here is a direct quote from the review.
"If you've played Pikmin before, Overlord will be about as familiar to you as your favorite pair of boxers. You play the role of a dark overlord, brought forth to control a horde of minions that wreak havoc upon the world as you work to restore your once glorious kingdom. Your pack of minions begins small, but increases in both variety and size as you progress through the game to uncover new powers, spells, and pieces of your dark tower. These little guys are the keys to your success. They fight and die for you, team up to move objects too heavy for you to lift, and provide enough laughs to make even the most angelic of us feel good about doing evil. Without them, you're helpless."

Plants vs. Zombies and Bioshock for $9.98. It's like begging for me to buy them. I was looking at Bioshock for the Christmas sale, but 75% off will be tough to beat so might as well just get it now.
