Peyton was definitely selling out his offensive line. It was outrageous.

Jeez. Did they have Mariucci calling the plays on that last series?

wow, that field is brutal, you can see the sand flying up in the air just from the ball hitting the ground.

No wonder there has been so many injuries...

Ugly play for Grossman on that run too cause of the shitty field.

I think Grossman needs to learn to take a little off the ball when he's throwing those short little slants.

How ironic after the year they had, the Bears D would be mostly responsible for this loss. Grossman, I must admit, played 100 time better than I thought he would.

I think Grossman will be fine in the future. He just needs to get a full season under his belt.

I'd criticize Manning for being a total choad to his team. But then people would say "See, thats why Patriots fans suck."

How many other players would sell his team out like that to the press? What a dink. No wonder their team can't hold it together.

Yeah, give it to me. Peyton has never struck me as the type to sell anyone out (except maybe Vandy, but that was for good reason).

That's exactly what I thought. I imagine the guys on the offensive line will not be speaking much to their QB this offseason.

From memory "...To be a good teammate, let's just say the pass protection had issues". Very very close to that. I think he reiterated it.

I don't have the quote, but he basically said that his offensive line did a crap job of blocking.

People are riding him too hard for his comments, it's kind of sad of some people really... Out of all the pricks in sports, Peyton really isn't that bad of a guy.

Not a direct qoute but close basically -

'I don't want to be a bad teammate, but let's just say we had some protection problems... not to take anything away from Pittsburgs defense, they did great, they blitzed, ran alot of great plays... but we had some protection issues out there'

Yeah, that looks pretty spot on to me, I'll stop searching for it .

Did anyone else on the team say "Well we had some turnover and accuracy issues with the quarterback" after the last two playoff losses that landed at his feet?

Yeah that'd be a similiar comparison if Jeff George ran his offense... Or if Jeff George actually was a MVP calibur QB who suddenly looked like he was playing college ball.

If the coach had said it, and Dungy never will - cause he's a 'nice guy' he'd of been hailed as a no nonsense coach.

Well it is true, their pass protection sucked. I would think their o-line would recognize that. I don't know if you say it though. And isn't picking up the blitz the QB's job?

Can a QB who wears a backward fitted cap and a purple and pink argyle sweater to a press conference win it all? Tune into the Seahawks next week!

He was asked a direct question and answered diplomatically. Far cry from how it is being discribed on here.

I think it wasn't really *necessary* to say as there were alot of issues with the Colts, but I wouldn't say by stating the obvious he's selling his team out.

I really just think without seeing the full press conference it's too hard to say that one comment is selling his team out as well. Now, if all (or atleast 2 or 3) his questions were answered with O-Line problems as the answer... That's different.

Along with the TE and backs. He could have actually been talking about them.

That doesn't actually depict everything he said, cause I know he did say protection problems/issues atleast twice.

That could be a different question, or just leaving out some of the answer.

Maybe you had to see it live to understand. I actually like Peyton, but it was a bad moment for him. If Michael Vick had said something like that after a playoff loss, he would have gotten crushed.

"I couldn't tell you how much I studied these guys over the last two weeks," Manning said. "It's disappointing we didn't win the game. But I'm going to keep trying, that's all I can say."

"All I know is to keep working, to come back next year and be a better quarterback, a better leader," he said. "You get tired of saying that after every playoff loss because pretty soon, you start running out of years."

Yeah, real prick there.

No, it isn't. He blamed his O-Line for the loss essentially. I'm not a Pats fan, but that comment just greatly lowered my respect for him.

Look at some of the other comments GD posted, like I also said - until you see the whole conference and not just one question, it's ridiculous.

I could have sworn that I twice heard him blame his blockers. He tried to be diplomatic but failed.

He did blame the blockers twice. He started out diplomatically, but it just made it seem like he was biting his tounge but still let out criticism of his team.

I also think the inference was much more clear in hearing him speak, rather than reading what he said.

I'm sure He did, but he took blame on himself, too. That is far from selling people out or "blaming the whole loss on his offense line" as some are claiming.

See, I know Jeff and St. Cronin are biased (as am I), and tend to see things through red, white, and blue-covered glasses, but when Eaglesfan says he thinks something out of line happened, it makes it more valid in my eyes.

I think so too. Something about his body language said 'it's not my fault, I did what I was supposed to do, and it's not fair.'

I think it was just a bad moment on his part.

Then the coach showed him the game film of the players messing up. Not a Coughlin fan, but I liked how he handled that one.

That is what I mean. The idea being that it was inappropriate to call out the coach after such a loss. IMO it was equally inappropriate to call out the O-line after the IND loss

I would explain it like this: You know how sometimes somebody says "Meaning no disrespect..." and you just KNOW they're about to say something disrespectful? Well, when Peyton said "I don't want to be a bad teammate..." you just knew he was about to call out a teammate. You could hear it in his voice, see it in his face.

I'm sure there will be columns and opinion pieces on it. Jimmy Johnson did call him out on it after they played it during half time. It really is tough to explain without hearing it, but Cronin came pretty close.
