I see you have Bill Cowher's balding ginger brother as Arena's assistant

US is playing a 4-5-1 with Donovan playing an attacking mid role.

Looks very much like the Italy v Ghana game so far. Italy hanging back allowing the opponents to come at them and then trying to ping balls over the defence for Toni to run on to.

Boring, boring Italy, in other words.

I have a feeling this game is going to be like US-Germany in 2002 with us playing great and losing by a goal

The United States seem to really want to make a push and consider that first goal vital. We won't be able to keep up the pace forever though so it'd be nice to get one score in.

If Italy scores first, I can see us get deflated, very quick.

I was going to say it was poor defence, but this is probably the better way to put it.

At least you should have some hope: you are being more physical, more positive - not being walked over and showing that you care. Only one goal down, and you've had a couple of half chances already

Just like that, Italy sends it down the field to kill our attack.

It was a tackle from behind (one of the referee's focus points in this WC) which didn't win the ball.

So far the only decision the ref has got wrong was the soft booking for Totti. Can't blame the ref.
