It's hard to live on the 3 the entire game. So far, Aldridge seems to be doing well on both ends of the floor against Pittsnogle.

Big Baby hasn't fouled out all year(including on the road in the SEC, where visiting teams always get hosed) and hes got 4 fouls in that limited of time on the court? Seems a bit odd.

Just to finish this up:
Duke fouls: 18
LSU fouls: 16

LSU blocks: 10
Duke blocks: 4

LSU rebounds: 46
Duke rebounds: 36

LSU foul-outs: 0
Duke foul-outs: 2
So you're telling me that the refs called LSU for more fouls, and that of the 6 more blocks and 10 more rebounds, none of them could have been called for fouls on LSU? There was no reffering conspiracy, just really pathetic reffering all around. I agree Williams could have easily fouled out in the first half, and that all the main big men got away with a lot of pushing.

Duke's problem was they got scared. You could see it in every shot. As soon as LSU started blocking a shot or two, every Duke player got scared when they went inside. Hell they were scared shooting a three (I thought Nelson was scared he was going to get hit with a rolled up newspaper whenever he touched the ball, even when wide open for three). Even Shelden was scared on the inside. You may not be able to tell from the stats, but you could see it in the moves he made. His problem is he never really goes up with authority... sure he muscles people around, but when he goes for the shot he kind of half-asses it. You could see that in the two or three dunks that got blocked. And once Redick got pissed off (after about 7 minutes) he was completely gone. There's two difference pissed off Redicks, one where you do something to him that he feels is an affront, and one where you hound him relentlessly. LSU had a great strategy, don't let Redick beat us... simple, but completely necessary. Paulus showed his freshmanness, every other guard disappeared, Melchioni did nothing. The only one who showed any flashes of anything was McRoberts, but he just disappears for long stretches of the game.

I completely take my hat off to LSU. Duke played a horrible game, but 87% of that was forced by LSU.

Most likely you will die by the 3 point shot. Unless you are John Paxson.

TOo many fouls called in this game. Not in favor of either team, but just way too ticky tacky

By the way, anyone else pretty unimpressed by Glen Davis for LSU? The guy is big, but damn, someone needs to teach this kid how to power up. So many times he got the ball inside and put up a soft little shot that would roll out, usually to be cleaned up by a team-mate. At his size this kid should just destroy his defender at the NCAA level.

I love seeing Duke lose, even if it screws up my brackets (I had them losing in the title game to UConn)...

Now I need the Zags to keep playing hard and beat UCLA. My bro and sis both have UCLA in the FF while I have the Zags coming out of that region.

I'm almost hoping the Zags lose so that we no longer have to be subject to that leather-lunged female cheerleader who keeps yelping into the microphone. She did it every time Indiana had the ball last weekend and she's at it again tonight. So annoying...

When WVU does not make its shots, it plays man to man. Gansey and Collins are the only two players for the Mountaineers that are anywhere athletic enough to play m2m.

If they can start hitting some shots, they can drop back into the half court 1-3-1 and force some turnovers.

Unless they can get a pretty good run going before the 10 minute mark and cut it down to like 6 points or so, I think Texas will be too good to be outscored by double digits in the second half.

The final 7 minutes or so were called very well IMO. And I thought the first half was at least called close to evenly. The begining of the 2nd half was just horrid, in terms of the calls LSU got against them and Duke didn't.

But calling an at least fairly even first half and letting the teams play in the final 8 minutes or so of the game gets an overall thumbs up from me towards the refs.

Tyrus Thomas was the man blocking shots today, but Garrett Temple deserves all kinds of props for the lion's share of LSU's D. Temple comes from a good LSU basketball lineage, all of whom are terrific human beings. Hes been a good defender all year, especially for a freshman. But today he just stepped it up to another level. He was all over Riddick like VDs on Ron Mexico. Impressive for a guy, who like Tyrus Thomas, was looked on by many as not even a SEC caliber player.

He doesn't have a very good vertical. He is much more agile than he is explosive. That should keep him in school for a while longer, and when he does come out, it probably won't be in the first round. (Maybe undrafted....)

What he does do well, is he forces you to foul him in the college game. He is just so big and agile that its hard to ever fully contain him.

Yeah, he's a 4 year guy if he's smart. If he was 6'11 he'd be a lock for the NBA, but at just 6'9 it's a real stretch, even with his quickness.

Outside of not powering it up he also didn't do a good job of keeping the ball away from the defender. About 2 or 3 times he got it stripped away as he was going up for the shot.

Still, if I were an LSU fan I'd be excited if this guy is on campus for the next 2 seasons - imagine the kind of numbers he'll put up as a senior.

Hell of a finish to the WVU/Texas game. I thought when they hit the 3 to tie it that WVU would take it.

Boys, that's why you play defense for 40 minutes, not 39:55.
