Agreed. Though I hate the f*cker with the burning passion of a thousand suns, Roy's retort to Roenick mouthing off during the play-offs one year was classic. Roenick blabbed on and on about something and when the reporters asked Roy about what Roenick said, Roy replied "I don't know. I couldn't hear Jeremy Roenick because I had my Stanley Cup rings in my ears." Classic. |

Whatever happened to the Lindroses? They were all over the place for years and then, all of a sudden, Eric moves to New York and they disappear. I guess it could be the fact that Eric Lindros drifted into mediocrity since the concussion problems. Lindros has to have one of the most fascinating hockey careers ever. From the the whole modification of the junior draft thing, to Quebec drafting him, to Quebec trading him, to the concussions. Just amazing. Despite his many flaws, I thought he was an amazing player for a time there. Just an oustanding combination of size and skill. Though it did piss me off in 1997 when the Flyers beat the Penguins in the play-offs and, during the handshake, Lemieux whispered to Lindros "It's your time." Lindros' time? LINDROS' TIME? GO F*CK YOURSELF, LEMIEUX! IT'S YZERMAN'S TIME! (that was my response when I heard that. And luckily, I was right! ) |

Selanne and Bure are correct.
Here's another good question... It actually doesn't work so well on the internet since it's not difficult to look up the answer, but it's a good one to file away for when you're at the bar with your buddies. Of the NHL's all-time 25 leading scorers, seven played for teams that have since relocated. Name them.

You guys got all seven. I'm surprised Howe was the last to go, usually he's the first one people think of.
And kudos for getting Coffey, he's the one people forget about.

The more I watch the hit again and again on ESPN, the more I lessen my stance that it was a cheap shot (I think I just got caught up in the emotion of being there last night), but I just don't know how Maltby didn't see the door open. The video shows him looking toward that area as he goes to hit Klesla. I just hope Klesla's okay, he's not had any luck with injuries this year, going down to maybe a more dirtier play earlier in the year w/Scott Parker. Don't worry, I still hate the Wings. I'd like to see something develop between the two teams as the Jackets get a little better, if it came even half as good as the tOSU-Michigan football rivarly, that would be awesome. |

Wow! Who would have thought that Calgary was the 4th best draw on the road this year beat out by only Detroit, Colorado and Vancouver!

It's interesting, but every team draws about the same on the road except Detroit and Colorado. The difference between 92.8 for the 3rd best team and 84.8 for the bottom team just isn't that much. It just goes that show that when the Wings or Avs come to town, you sell out and everyone else gets 90%. That's supposing you have an average team and not something like the Hawks or Pens or Canes who get 60% for home games. SI

right. and I guess Calgary gets bumped up to the top of the list because they play in a division with Vancouver, Colorado, and Minnesota who sell out ALL of their home games, and a fierce rival in Edmonton. so, right off the bat, almost all of their divisional road games are automatic sellouts.

If you count up goals scored in the Nashville-Chicago game by players who have played for the Blackhawks at one point in this season, it's a 2-all game and Nashville only gets a point... ok, so it was a reach.

The journey of a thousand miles starts with but a single step, kalyman! Good to see the ever-reliable Marc Lamothe pull the Wings' fat out of the fire. The Wings played a flat, uninspired hockey game but managed to pull it out. I guess at this point, after Nashville's back-to-back wins against the Chicago Wolves, I mean Blackhawks, you want to see Nashville win on Saturday. |

I agree. I think this is what the NHL envisioned when they started up the Columbus franchise. I'd like to see a strong rivalry grow as well. The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry is a great launching pad for this. I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Columbus, you will not find a more wretched hive of sum and villiany. |

Is there any way both teams can lose? A Nashville win would eliminate the Oilers, since they would finish with more wins regardless of what the Oilers do against Vancouver. Since St. Louis plays Minnesota and they'll likely win that game, the best bet is Nashville losing against the Blues and losing against the Avalanche and the Oilers picking up at least a point agianst Vancouver. Yuk, now I really feel dirty, cheering for both the Blues and Avalanche. Oh hockey gods! Why do you torment me so? Quote:
Truth be told, one of my best friends is a huge Red Wing fan even though I don't recall him ever suffering inoperatable brain damage. Go figure. Anyway, the Wings fall behind the Oilers and the Flames on my pecking order of teams to support. And if he ever finds that out, I'm coming after you! |

And it's nice to hear a playoff theme song that actually consists of more creativity than the name of the team you're playing followed by "sucks".

The local Ottawa sports station did a "Leafs Suck" song to the tune of Outkast's "Hey Ya".
In other words, they took out the words "Hey Ya" and replaced it with "Leafs Suck". Some clever stuff, I tell you. Clever stuff indeed.

interesting connundrum for the Leafs tonight.
if they beat Ottawa, there's a very chance that they get rewarded by having to play Ottawa in the first round (IF Boston beats the Devils, that is). the whole East playoff situation is just crazy; amazing that the only team that has a particular spot locked up is Tampa, who will be the #1 regardless. All other 7 teams can change positions, in some cases drastically. wow. The West makes a little more sense, although the Nashville/Edmonton thing is still hanging around. Scott Walker's playoffless streak is going to get a huge hit from my negative karma, as I now have to root for the Oilers to beat the Nucks and the Avs to beat the Preds. Sorry Scott.

Oh well. At least I don't hate the Predators. It looks the Oilers might get themselves knocked out tonight. I got home to see it 3-1 and watch it go to 4-1 before the second period ended. If they had just won a few more of those one-goal games during the rest of the season. Damn.

DAMNIT!
Wow do some of those blown leads earlier in the year really come back to haunt the Oiler's now. Maybe this'll finally knock it into MacTavish's head not to sit on a 2 goal lead and try to trap instead of going for the throat and the 3 goal lead (especially if we've been playing well enough to get up by 2). And to think how crazy people thought I was in January when I told them the Oiler's would make the playoffs, now I still get to be crazy instead of insightful. Ah well. |
