Oh yeah, I totally agree with you. I just honestly feel that a good TEAM will beat a squad of 1-2 superstars everytime. I'm really starting to hate college athletics. As to the crying comment, I really don't know who it was, but maybe it was some senior who never actually went to class and now realizes that he's fucked and will be working some $11/hr job sometime soon. |

You're correct. Kansas didn't play poorly. In order to do that, they'd actually have to show up to the game. |

Well, my bracket(s) are fubared now...I do have a fun one I made that picked Baylor to take it all...
So for now it's watch and see how BYU does and if Baylor goes all the way..I will laugh.

I will gladly take a KU loss being my fault anyday. At the end of the day I really only care about Mizzou and Baylor or A&M or OSU losing has no effect on me whatsoever. (Of course I will always be happy about a KU loss) Last I checked Mizzou was still in this thing and if they lose tomorrow (I admit bias and know we probably will) I just won't visit the thread for a few days. Northern Iowa is more like a 3 or 4 seed I wouldn't be surprise to see them in the elite 8.

Agree and sorry I was paying attention to the thread earlier. I see now that you are a Jayhawks fan. I did not know that. Sorry for the loss Kansas had a great season and to be honest all ribbing aside NI was just hot and lucky like George Mason acouple of years ago. Whoever meets these guys next whether it be Michigan St. or Maryland better not take them lightly. |

We're supposed to be already out of this thing already. It's just gravy now. No need to shy away from that. If we win tomorrow, it will mark two straight years we've advanced further than Kansas. Wouldn't be bad at all. |

lol, ok. If I'm coaching the team, I've prepared them mentally for this moment and while emotions are expected, I'd also expect them to get themselves intact and leave the court with some dignity. You win sometimes, you lose sometimes. In neither case, is it the end of the world. There are more important things and you have to keep it all in perspective. No, I've never coached (or played) college basketball, but having done so in a different sport I know a bit about the highs and lows of winning and losing. You gotta keep your head. I know basketball is different because of all of the money fueled into this stuff and how many of the players don't really have lives outside the game, but...I was just stating my opinion. It doesn't make it definitive, but I think it's just in poor taste, it's not due to a lack of empathy or an inability to relate. |

I was impressed on Thursday and I'm even more impressed with their play today. Washington (and California) are really sticking it in the face of Pac-10 critics (of which I was one of them).

To be fair, I think Self does a good job of building a team. It's really rare to have a balanced team and still have enough talent to win. The 2008 Kansas team had that but it turns out they had 7 future NBA draftees (or is it 8?). And that was as balanced a team as I can recall seeing in college in a long time. Look at our rotation- we got gutted after 2008, with at least 5 guys either graduating or leaving as juniors for the NBA. Collins is our only senior. Our only major juniors are Aldrich, Morningstar- a defensive and 3 point specialist, and Reed- a 3 point specialist. The rest of our rotation includes 3 sophomores (Morris twins and Taylor) and Xavier Henry. Xavier Henry is our first one and done- it's not like we make a living off of them. Self saw that Collins and Aldrich came back and he would only get them one more year so he took one chance on one player. I've made the point a couple of times this year- our biggest weakness is that we could use one more really good upperclassman (I can dig them up if you'd really like). But you can't just manufacture that so he goes and snags a blue chip in Henry. Yeah, we had what people thought was a fairly veteran rotation these days but we still knew it was young. You just can't fix that overnight. But it's not like we went out and signed a bunch of one-and-dones. A lot of the players in our rotation are glue guys- not top 5 at their position 5 star recruits but they fill distinct roles. We were hardly a team that went out to be built around stars but that's what Self had coming into this year so he had to go with what he had. SI

heh. I was ok after the first two days.. lost Georgetown from my Elite Eight but then again, just about everybody lost Georgetown from at least the Sweet 16.. Then Nova and Kansas (two final four teams) bit the dust today. Most years I would have multiple brackets to at least follow, but this was my one and only this year.

Alumnus, actually- so I have a bit invested in them (Student loans paid off last year, tho! Suck it, Nelnet!) and Lord knows I'm going to be overly sensitive the next 24 hours about this as it just feels crappy. I really would have been happy with a Final Four trip this year as I think that's a huge accomplishment but it was not to be. I loved that feeling in 2008 but it looks like another team gets to feel that this year. I'd really like it to be a team that hasn't had great success in a while as the fans will value it more- again, why I'd love to see Baylor or Kansas State do well. Hell, maybe even Mizzou I'll definitely be rooting for UNI going forward as I would have liked to have all along (wife is from Iowa). I just wish we would have been there to root for, too. Also, like we've been saying (meanstrosity, another big KU fan here)- I don't think they got lucky. They imposed their will on us and beat us. To claim it was lucky cheapens it, I think. They went out there and just gave us a good ass kicking. SI

OK? He's a Texas fan. I think they are still looking for those 8 points that Wake stole from them in overtime the other night. And if I not mistaken you are either Florida or Florida State. Either case your team laid an egg. Mizzou on the other hand will be one of 24 teams going for the 2010 National Championship. |

Yeah, NIU is a really strong team. I think they kind of fucked Kansas by having them as a 9 seed (they should have been a 4 or 5). Same goes for Syracuse who has to play a Gonzaga seed that has no business being an 8 seed.
The top seeds in each bracket seem to have gotten the shaft with the exception of Duke. |

Butler beat a 12 and 13 seed, Even if they had to play a four seed, it's not big for a 5 seed to beat them. Mizzou has been covered, but one win in a 7-10 matchup isn't much of a story. Cornell pulled off the upset, but it was one game and it's the infamous 5-12 matchup. Wake merely won a 8-9 matchup by a point. Quote:
Because Mizzou has actually beaten WVU?
