I'm addicted to going to realtor.com and just looking at the run-down houses from bigger cities. It's amazing how much history you can see in some of these houses and how trashed they really are. There's more than a part of you that will look at them and want to buy the houses and then fix them up. Then sanity hits you.

You'd have to take 3 BILLION saw palmetto capsules to get as much beta-sitosterol as you can get from just gazing upon a single super beta prostate gelcap.

My son scored his first mite level goal tonight. I swear he jumped two feet off the ice afterwards. And hugged his coach when his shift ended.

I met him coming off the ice, he was screaming "I SCORED!!"

He's on cloud 9 now...not even close to ready for bed.

Awesome night all around.

I think I've overdosed on Vitamin C. I juiced 8 oranges and drank them after dinner, and I probably had like 4 other oranges yesterday.

Hehehe.

I hate that shit where you need like 3 feet of trim to finish a project, yet you search the scrap pile and you're all out. Now I gotta wait until the morning when Lowe's opens...I could easily finish this job now.

I am guessing that includes songs where he is featured, too, but not the primary artist?

Though I never directly spoke with him, I spent 4 years writing code indirectly for the guy. (CDOC was one of our clients at my prior job). Odds are, if they promote in house, I'll personally know his successor. Sad, and kinda weird.

When I was in high school a buddy of mines dad was a correction officer and he would run into guys all the time that were ex cons. I have a cousin who is a cop and he also has stories about seeing guys he arrested when he is at the mall with his kids, etc...

Yeeeeep. It's not all that hard for a motivated and angry ex-con to find out where correction officers / parole agents lived.

And frankly, since I designed a big portion of the monitoring system, there's more than a few holes in how it works (one of the reasons I quite was the fact that I wasn't given the support needed to actually make it stable & good).

I've been doing a lot of demo work in various places throughout the house lately. Stuff like ripping up carpet, lots of side projects, throwing out the mountain of shit that the old owner left in the attic*, etc. Anyways since we have limited trash service, I can only work as much as filling up our individual can each week. This gets frustrating.

Anyways, the other day I called to see how much it would be for extra bags of trash, as I finally have just about tossed all of the old stuff in the attic and want to get done. They tell me it's 4$ a bag. I estimate that I have maybe 4 bags of their shit left, and go about the procedure of getting the tag/informing the driver. The lady then tells me that a 16 bag bulk pickup is only a total of 8$. Now I'm pissed I didn't know this sooner and could have chucked all their junk a long fucking time ago.

*as to the mountain of old owner junk, we bought a foreclosed home with little to no walk through several years ago and only recently discovered these specific storage attics which were packed full of absolute junk like candle holders and moldy baby clothes.

I wonder what the NCAA thinks would happen if they called the Dayton round the "preliminary round", or the "play-in round"? Do they think college basketball would implode? Would TV ratings and attendance for those Dayton games collapse? I think this is what happens when you employ too many people and they all have to justify their existence with powerpoint presentations with wacky ideas.

You mean would the ratings suck any more than they already do? They're already doing a fairly pathetic 0.4 A18-49, and that's with 14% growth over last year.

I dont think he's famous enough in the US to have his own thread but:

James Herbert - we hardly knew ye. "Rats", "Fluke", "Lair", "Fog", you were the king of the One Word Title Horror Novel With Random Sex Scene genre. You were my favorite author when I was 14 (along with Harry Harrison and Sven Hassel). You'll be missed.

I was driving to Cherry Hill a little while ago and thought I saw a meteor that went overhead. The sky flashed a few times, and then I saw this white dot go across the sky for a second and disappear.

Thought I may have just been seeing things, but my google-fu is turning up reports or a major meteor event (in which case, I guess I missed the main event) in my area. Guess that white dot was a tiny fragment or something.

Last September, Labor Day early morning, I was driving two drunk friends home when I saw a floating white light in the sky in front of me (and a little to the left). I was in Yorba Linda driving toward Fullerton, and the light seemed to be descending toward the Santa Ana river bed (urban river, it's really more of a stream most of the time). One friend was completely passed out so she was no good, and my friend in the back seat was awake but he has the hearing of Helen Keller and the attention span of a mollusk (and he was inebriated), so by the time he looked it up it was gone.

Still trips me out thinking about it. I searched for it on the Internet, but I guess no one else saw it (or reported it, at least).

Was looking at an ESPN Madden article and this jumped off the page

Quote:
Ever wonder why elite punters never had a high rating in "Madden"? Ratings guru Donny Moore breaks it down: "The funny thing is, we couldn't put a punter at 99 overall because of franchise mode. The way the logic worked in the franchise draft, if you had a punter at 99 overall, you would have a team spend a fifth- or sixth-round pick on Shane Lechler. So no matter how good of a punter you were, we would artificially need to keep your rating down. It sounds silly, but that's just how it was. We finally fixed the logic, so now Lechler is where he belongs at 99."

No wonder the game engine is/was always shit.

Sure, we would love to repair your projector for you at no cost since you purchased it from us. Oh, what was that, you didn't purchase that projector from us.

Sorry, we will no longer be able to service that projector. You must go back to your original vendor.

Yeah, that was my call this morning to one of my clients. It pisses me off that they go with low bid sometimes and then expects me to clean up their mess for free.
