I didn't see the Isaac/HRG angle coming. Claire's dad should have been far more creative.

Awesome, awesome episode this week.
I loved the Hiro's family interaction because it played so true to Japanese values (as least as much as I know about them). And hahahaha Ando perving on Hiro's sister. Classic! And the way Hiro outsmarted his father was freaking brilliant.

Nathan being Claire's dad was the worst kept "next week on Heroes" secret ever. You saw the watch and the shirt and I think everyone just knew. Though how Nathan deals, especially in the middle of a bruising campaign will be interesting.
I also like the fact that it seems Jessica will be here to stay and she'll be a villian, after trying to off Parkman.

i'm glad with where this long and winding Jessice story is going now. best thing for her character would be for her to be a villain (if she wasn't already). the Nikki/Jessica/DL storyline so far has operated outside the main Heroes storyline that it's been one long pointless story arc. other than Jessica stealing Linderman's money, who is in business with Nathan (that she slept with and framed) - she has nothing to do with the main plot. the show hasn't shown where she fits in. to make her a villain so that she can team up with Sylar to form two badies for the rest of the Heroes to fight against would be most sensical, otherwise they need to do something with her character.
and please, just get rid of Mohinder. it's enough now. he adds nothing to the show. |

He is telekinetic (I'm not sure if it's enough to stop a bullet), but it also looks like there's something else going on with him, witness his surprise revival and the thing that he pulled out of his head. Maybe he's already picked up Claire's power and doesn't realize it yet?

Well, I think it was fairly obvious that Jessica would be a villian type of character. This backstory, unrelated to the rest of the main plot (well, except Ando recognized her from porn) gives the person who is going to be, IMO, one of the main big villians after Peter figures out how not to blow up, an in depth backstory.

Oh, and from the previews it appears that Mohinder tries to 'help' Sylar (or Sylar is using Mohinder to get more heroes).

Loved tonight's episode. Only disappointment for me was Nathan being Claire's dad. I really thought it would be less obvious.
I'm starting to think all or almost all of the heroes have mental blocks that they must overcome to reach their potential. Sylar has already overcome his. Isaac overcame his and was able to paint without using heroin. Hiro, Nikki, Nathan, and Peter are all working on overcoming theirs. |

Well it appears that Nathan has already overcome his mental block, in the terms of how to use his power, he just doesn't want to use his power.

I still think Mohinder could turn out okay. Like Parkerman, the possbility's been there in the original general outline for a good story, but it hasn't delivered. Mohinder is recoverable. Parkerman... I'm not sure anymore. It'd take a big red button push to do it.

I just hope the whiny, "I can't control it, boo hoo" Peter is not a long story line.

I agree that it was a great episode. When Claire's adopted mom was running away from Sylar and crashed into the glass, my son yelled, "He's using the Force!"

From Sylar's conversation with Mrs Bennett, I find this completely possible. Sylar seemed to be fishing for what Claire's power is.

So Sylar can only sense that you have a power, but not what the power is? He seems to awfully intent on getting to Claire for not knowing what her ability is. But then again, it makes me wonder why he doesn't attempt to kill the Haitian if he can sense people with power. Obviously he can't use any powers against the Haitian, so why not go conventional and just shoot him?

Also, if Peter learns to use his sponge like powers by recalling them, I wonder what the possibilities would be if he recalls his interaction with Sylar? Will he be able to isolate ALL of those powers too and be able to recall them?

Sylar's shown some sort of limited invulnerability in the past. Remember, he took those shots from Parkman and got up just fine and when he and Peter fell off the roof of the school he was fine. I don't think he has Claire's power yet, I think he just got this power from someone else's brain.
Ali Larter continues to impress. She really does an excellent job of changing her entire demeanor between Nikki/Jessica. I could see Jessica sort of "joining forces" with Linderman. It's possible he could try to leverage him getting her out of jail (and Micah) to try and use Jessica as some "muscle." That could be interesting... Poor Dr. Oprah. She really had no idea... I enjoyed the scenes with Hiro's family. I am sure that angle will come back into play. For the time being it seemed like just an excuse to get George Takei on the show. I like George Takei though, so I'll live with it. It seemed like the Peter-In-Training angle was coming to an end there. Hopefully it wont go on too much longer, but Peter seemed to think he had it sort of figured out. I do find the whole Zack thing sort of weird. I know his memory was wiped, but he seems very different from what he was. He even dresses different. It's like the writers are going out of their way to show he's not gay. It's just... odd.

Essentially Peter should be able to recall:
Power Mimicry or Absorption (His own) Spontaneous regeneration (Claire) Flight (Nathan) Invisibility (Claude) Mental Persuasion (Eden, they did meet when Peter came to see Mohinder) Precognition (Isaac) Telekinesis (Sylar, Peter may have also gained the other abilities Sylar has) Telepathy (Matt) Teleportation (Future Hiro) Time Travel (Future Hiro)

Not that I mind it, but I see this taking an x-men direction. I can't tell who though is the bad guy. Will it be HRG or Linderman? Claude, from his conversations with Peter, has had numerous run ins with people with abilities and can train others how to use them. Also HRG referred to him as a character he thought was dead so there is an apparent history of the invisible man with HRG. Is Claude being set up as Professor X type character? Maybe Linderman is being set up as the Magneto type and HRG is the government run, sentinel controlling type?

But he didn't actually use those himself when in the vicinity - of the list you went I figure: Claire's regeneration Nathan's flight Claude's invisibility Isaac's precognition /maybe/ also Future Hiro's timestop. The rest he may have been around but he didn't absorb at that point in time. Unless you count Matt's telepathy - although I'm not sure since it was just feedback. |

Not really. The few times we've seen him fly, it has been with poor control and/or poor velocity. The only time he flew with speed was when his life was threatened. He certainly wasn't in control of his power when his wife was hurt. I don't think he has fully mastered his power, although, he is further along than some of the other characters.

If you follow the graphic novel on the site, one of the early ones focused on Nathan and showed more control over his power in a situation where his life wasn't in jeopardy. |

Meaning giving away or implying things that haven't happened yet? The newer ones - really the last five or six touch on one particular person who hasn't shown up yet, but you're probably safe with the older. They kinda fill in the blanks - what happens in between the eps, that sort of thing. I particularly liked Hiro's early in the first season. |

Though, while I like the graphic novels and the concept of one after every episode, I feel that they are too integral to figure out the story. I know I was asked what happened to Sylar after Eden died. Why didn't he get out. Well, that was answered in the graphic novel, but you shouldn't have to go online to figure out what really happened in a TV show.

It's in Ep 11, "Fathers and Daughters" which revolves around HRG guy telling Eden's dad that she died.

Did anyone catch HRG's ID when Sylar pulls it out and presses it against the glass after trapping HRG?
I thought it said Texas Department of Homeland Security on it or something like that. Or was it just a driver's license?

Perhaps. But without the novel, it was a perfectly reasonable spot - he was in a high-security place, I don't think it's surprising that he didn't get out. The fact that there's a different area to go to that answers questions that wouldn't otherwise be answered, I like. Now if it ever becomes a need to read to follow the show, then it's a problem. But the fact I know a lot about the backstory of a character who appears for the first time in the next two weeks isn't necessarily a problem as long as they tell us all we /need/ to know in the show. |

I'm actually dreading the direction Peter's powers are taking. I thought it was cool that he could sponge people's powers. Now that it appears that he is able to keep them after absorbing them, it's a turn off. So it will be guy with huge power vs. evil guy with huge power? Meh.
Hopefully they make it more interesting than that. |

But when he traps HRG guy in the 'cage', it's still a high-security place, and he gets out easy. I think the novel was essential to really figure out what happened.

Was there anything revealed about the cage? I thought it was high security holding cell and Sylar was so heavily medicated and the Haitian guy was there so his powers couldn't be used. Did the cell itself have some sort of power draining ability? Why didn't Sylar kill HRG last night is beyond me.

That's the vibe I got as well. I think he was probably planning on coming back after eating Claire's brain (or whatever he does) and then making HRG pay for locking him up. Although I do agree it would have been a good idea for that to be communicated a little better. |

I was disappointed that Nathan was the father too. I like reading people's guesses, but only when they're wrong. That one seemed obvious and it was. I guess everything can't be a surprise.
What does Hiro's father's license plate mean? Am I missing something obvious? |
