Absolutely not. Not especially if you do even the remotest amount of due diligence. Most of the time online you can find out a person's full name (it's easy to google someone with only a first name and knowing what they do or where they work) where they work, where they're from and so forth.

Not always, but..you meet someone at a bar or some other scenario (say at the gym or something) all you've done is exchange pleasantries, a phone number and go on one date after texting or something.

With online, you usually have several convos before meeting for the first time (either written or phone) and then go meet them somewhere.

Obviously exceptions to the rule and I'm not even replying in regards to your party situation because it's your home and you can do whatever you want and should.

I'm just saying this false impression that meeting someone casually at a bar is safer than meeting in an online dating context is sorely mistaken.

Proposed just going out for coffee - I like that concept since it's easier for either side to bring it to a close when they want, and it's also less $$ then your traditional dinner-type date.

Especially in the online-dating world where you just want to...meet the person and get a first impression it seems like it makes sense.

Hell, there's a guy who does daily videos of D3 and Path of Exile and even admits he basically does nothing but game and do videos while he gets a fraction of what she does in terms of views.

Well I shot her that last night (bout 3-4 hours after getting home) - she got back to me at lunchtime (which is also normal I suppose), to respond "Hi! It was nice getting to know you better as well. I did have success (a little too much)! Hope you do not work too hard today!"

Success = shoe shopping after our date (she had just broken her foot and was headed off on vacation this coming friday).
