Question.

During a creation draft. How do you know the players contract? When I click on the player, everyone has a blank contract.

I'd like to reiterate the need for the starting five (plus sixth man) for each team in the history section. Would be huge for those of us long-term simmers.

I think it's like the rookie draft in that each player's contract is is scaled according to their draft position. The contract length is 100 percent dependent on the round the player was drafted in, and the variations in dollar amount for picks near one another are due to the player's experience (a 10-year veteran drafted one spot after a rookie will likely have a larger contract).

will the print functions on the finance screens ever be active, like the salary cap report?

I'm working on tracking down the ID issue right now. If you have the save it might help.

This guy just won MIP. Having a hard time seeing any reason behind it, other than the fact he missed 30 games the previous year.

That's been a general observation of mine as well - players that had, statistically at least, very similar seasons winning MIP, with the only real difference seeming to be number of games played.

dola--

I'm having issues with roster building. I just want to draft at the moment, so I'm letting the CPU handle roster moves and finances. And they sign 238408408343 a season, consistently releasing and signing guys. This makes my team cohesion poor-to-bad.

How do I fix this, so that they aren't signing everyone off the street? This is, of course, outside of handling it myself, as I just want to draft at the moment.

Was playing the game and had auto foul turned on in a close game and lost. Started the next game and auto foul was still on and I had 7 players foul out before I could figure out what was happening. Auto foul was greyed out so I couldn't turn it off. Nothing like 37 first half fouls.

Unfortunately CPU control is all or nothing here. I'll need to tackle the sign/release loop that happens in certain spots at some point. I just never notice it while it is happening.

Okay, I'm confused. To start a current NBA season do I use the historical NBA file or the USA1-2012 file? The last time I tried a start with the USA file, starting in preseason, everyone was a free agent.

Basically it is best to use the USA player file with the USA league file or use historical rosters for the historical league. The main difference for the current year is that the USA roster file should be mostly accurate contract information while it will be randomized using the historical rosters.

*Fixed error 9 hitting next after viewing a coach on the staff screen if the next position in the list is vacant.

*Fixed error 9 that could occur during cpu trading.
*Added code to prevent ID in use error.
*autofoul settings should be reset at the start of a new coached game.

HR,

This game is great Trading AI is impressively tough but not impossibly so; the draft has, I think, just the right amount of variability in terms of players exceeding or failing to meet expectations. Player development has the right amount of variability. I've simmed the Warriors from 1946 to 2035 so far, and we had a fearsome team in the late 80s with Olajuwon and McHale. Larry Bird got his only ring when I signed him at the age of 37 for one season. But we've also had some rough stretches in the basement for three or four years at a time. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Hey HR I was wondering if you were planning on adding that list of player with good and bad defense to the game this may help teams like the 80's pistons who were good defense team but did not get lots of blocks or steals they usually end up being one of the worst teams on the game because of this. Also may help the Bulls but now that Rose is good again they are looking better.

Also I noticed that Wilt had some overrides on his strength jumping stamina and defensive rebounds I wanted to see what happened if I just took the overrides off and Wilt was putting in his regular numbers this is the case since you made it possible for players to input with over 100 ratings. So I guess at least those can be removed (def rebounds str jumping and stamina)

yes, please

Also, is there any chance for either A) a 2012 file with career stats or b) a historical file with accurate contract info for the 2012 season ?

Is it possible to take the NBA setup in a certain year (let's say 1980) and keep those same teams and divisions indefinitely, while also using the full historical database and random debut?

Just make the start up file yourself in excel and it's possible. You pick start in preseason I assume and it will start with 1980 rosters.

Or do the same thing and pick creation draft (instead of preseason or free agency) and it starts with players from an all time era in an ultimate draft and follows with random players. It's what we did in a MP league and like an idiot I took Jerry West as my top player followed by Radmanovich and Loy Vaught. That's right, that should scare anyone that those two guys are my other good players.

I'm pretty sure if you turn on the no movement thing it will stay the same.

Just change the boxes under Historical Settings to Custom when starting the game with a Historical League and it will keep the settings based on the year you start with.

Create a League in League Editor that's outside of Game?

I mean in League Editor that's outside of the Game in Team Infor I could type Bakersfield for like Clippers

Also any chance you add Cities to the Database so if a League expands by the Computer it can pick from them?

Rosters as of the Draft would be good that would include 2013 Draft Class/Order.

Sometimes, going into the Free Agency period, my team talent is rated as good or great, but if I sign two or three scrubs to fill out my roster, my team talent rating drops, even though we are not really any worse for signing 2 or 3 guys who will never play. The game seems to be evaluating team talent as a fairly straight average (talent divided by number of players). Perhaps there is some way to change how the game rates team talent by giving more weight to the talent of the five starters, or perhaps to the starting five and to the first three guys off the bench?

I have a different interpretation. I think the game rates your team talent relative to the rest of the league. So at the beginning of FA you might have a good team compared to the rest of the league, as the other teams sign useful FA's and you sign a couple of scrubs, your relative rating has dropped.

More in the could ya file.

When I look at a players history, it just says traded to XYZ. Could it possible to list what the trade was? I just did a test sim for something and D Coleman was traded to the Raptors but it left me wondering what the Raptors gave up for Coleman in 1999. (I had already advanced to 2000)

Have you done any more thinking about making former players randomly debut as coaches?
