None of these games are going to be close at the finish. Too bad.

I have nothing against Tennessee or no real rooting interes- it's not as if Kansas and Tennessee are rivals or that we'd even face each other until 3 games down the road if both teams play really well. And, as I said above, this was the first game in the tourney where I didn't think it was inconsistent calling, but actually one-sided. That said, I realize my opinion amounts to nothing. If one team is allowed to be really rough under the basket while the other isn't- basically, the base level at which it takes to get called for a foul, is uneven but both teams cross that line an even number of times, then you still get equal free throw shooting. While an exaggeration but an illustration of the point, if Tenessee has to actually arm shove a player in the back to get a foul and Butler only hand slap, Tennessee could be slapping Butler players all night and Butler playing mostly clean defense and both could still end up with 5 fouls and it be uneven. It's like comparing a first baseman and center fielder on the basis of errors only. SI

Well Miss St is coming back sorta.
I have Michigan State beating them in the next round so I'll be rooting for Miss St in this one. Nail some threes. Memphis is being really stupid on defense with pointless fouls. This is going to get MSU to the bonus real fast. |

Butler had open layins from within 6 feet on two straight possessions in the final 90 seconds of regulation and missed them both. Make one and they win. Butler lost that game, refs don't decide every outcome.

Sorry MJ4H. UNC is playing as well as I've seen them all year. Assuming no monumental collapse, I hope they keep this up this level of play with Washington State and Tennessee/Louisville.

Well, yeah Radii. Arkansas isn't shooting well is the other half of that, and UNC was shooting lights out to start the game. Add a pretty solid defensive effort by UNC and this is just all kinds of ugly.
I will be rooting for UNC the rest of the way unless they play an SEC team (mebbe Tennessee, I guess). |

Did I seriously hear that one of the Memphis guys is shooting 39% from the free throw line? PFFFFT!
And yes, he missed both free throws to improve on that mark. |

Memphis can't hit FT's. They're so horrid fundamentally they'll never win a title no matter how much talent they have.

Well at least we get one good game in this last bunch. Taggart, Dozier, and Dorsey all with 4 fouls. Miss. St. in the 1 and 1.

Argh, Alvardo or whatever should've tried flopping there for a charge call, instead they make the bucket and get a foul and miss it and get the offensive rebound and get another two points. Bummer.

Cool of Roy Williams to get out there and make a fuss over something that could cause injuries and has definitely affected several plays in this and other games. The logos on the floor are apparently slicker than the rest of the floor. Roy Williams went out to half-court where Hansbrough just slipped and fell in the middle of a play and pointed to it and tried to get the announcers, Packer and Nantz, to say something on the air about it, which they did.
I applaud that. |

Has this been an issue in any of the other regionals? It was a problem throughout the ACC Tournament in Charlotte as well with a massive ACC logo in the center. |

I really like this team that Carolina has brought out with 2 minutes left for the past 2 games. They really emphasize defense & passing, and don't play any of that circus-ball.

Wow, UNC had a break today as they played The Sisters of the Blind. Actually The Sisters of the Blind may have put up more of a fight.
CBS must have hated being left with those last two games to end their day, especially after how they had to try to flip back and forth to get those earlier good games in at the end of their game. |

Nice to see Nova still alive. I had a feeling that if they could get past Clemson that they should beat Siena/Vanderbilt in the next round.
I'm sure we'll get killed by Kansas, but this is a great run in a rebuilding year. |

I must say, it is completely awesome how the NCAA has every single game available to stream from its website. I've got every single game so far played saved on my hard disk and have watched about half of them so far, in addition to the decent coverage we've had over here on cable, two games a day, usually 2 or so hours after they are played - though it's been a pretty bad choice of games. Every sucky game I've had to sit through they've switched to coverage of closer games from time to time, only to bring us back to some drubbing snoozefest of a matchup.

I'm struggling with the Lousiville/Tennessee game... going to give it to Tennessee, but should be a great and close game.

Yeah, WSU is playing great defense. Hansborough has 0 points so far. Lots of forced turnovers by the WSU defense. Looks like WVU is closing the gap.

Still a long time to go, but yeah, Washington State need to put the ball in the basket. Their D is pretty darn good.
