Coverage has been worse than ever this season, in my opinion.

It is like they took the worst elements from American Idol and all the cable news shows' election coverage and applied them to the draft. Five guys at the main desk, 4 more in the studio, and then 3 more elsewhere at the draft. Pretty much ignoring the draft itself.

Jags do another trade that I don't like and it is no surprise that it is New England that receives the benefit. They gave up next years 2nd as well as their 7th this year to get the 73rd pick.

Given the fact that they have no real DTs, they might.

So far, I've been fine with the draft. The Stafford pick was predictable and will either be horrible or great. Too early to get upset or excited.

Initially, I wasn't thrilled with the TE, but he's a great blocker, which will help the OL and they really don't have any decent TEs. At all. No offense to Casey Fitzsimmons.

I think having a very good safety is critical to having a good defense. Hopefully Delmas will fit that roll.

It is kind of sad to think about how many prior 2nd round picks that, apparently, will have turned out to have been wasted. After the Staffor pick, Stanton clearly has no role on the team. Delmas will likely make either Bullocks or Alexander obsolete as well.

Well, I have coveted a return man for years in Detroit. Seems like I got my wish. Probably too early though.

Nice value pickup there for the Lions. Derrick Williams could be a good KR/PR immediately for them and might be able to eventually displace Bryant Johnson as their #2 WR.

Not a bad pick. The Lions lack that small, shifty receiver and haven't had a return game to speak of since Eddide Drummond had that one great year and then disappeared.

Last year the Lions first round pick wasn't even shown on TV.

I don;t like the "Let's keep recapping First Round picks all day long" Coverage instead of actually covering the players taken on Day Two.

Ramses Barden is a great project to a team like New York. He is massive and could be a HUGE goalline threat.

I love it when a guy from a no-name school -- witness Ramses Barden from Cal Poly -- gets drafted and the only video they have is from a cable-access video that looks like it was smuggled out of the Taliban-controlled regions of Afghanistan.

Al Davis is kicking himself right now. Should have taken Barden in the second and waited until the fourth to get Mitchell.

Well, at least it looks like the Steelers got a KO return man, in Wallace, that is not a big slow running back (re: Gary Russell, Najeh Davenport).

I have to admit I really don't get the hating ESPN/loving NFL Network vibe. The coverage is completely identical. OK, I'll take Rich Eisen over Trey Wingo any day.

But we just missed about 5 draft picks because Rich Eisen was too busy watching himself on his Sprint phone and telling us how you can follow the draft on your phone too ... actually, he was telling us how you can watch him on your cell phone. True story.

I don't get NFL so I can;t even compare them. All I know is ESPN coverage is aimed at the lowest common denominator. I swear there's got to be a market for a sports channel that treats its watchers with intellectual respect.

I now think that Bill Belichick has more tapes - incriminating tapes of other executives. New England gets another 2nd next year, this time for their late 3rd round pick in this draft.

Pats have now traded 2 3rd rounders for 2010 2nd rounders...I'm a big fan of this. If they could trade their next pick I'm sure they would but it's a comp pick.

I love BB.

I give Detroit some credit for not taking OL for the sake of taking OL. I realize the holes we have but why take a OL who'll just be the next Jonathan Scott? If you''re not sold on them don't take them, just get the guys who you feel confident can help.

I just don't get why so many teams would trade a 2nd round pick in 2010 (which most believe will be a deep draft) for a 3rd this year (in what is considered a very weak draft). God forbid a 1st next year for a 2nd this year, Denver.

But why you give New England of all people a 2nd next year for a 3rd this year is beyond me.

Yeah, it's not much of a mystery as to why this regime always has a good team.

That and their 6th Day-esque cloning factory. How else do you explain a guy having a stroke and getting back onto the field? If Tom Brady is even more mobile than before after he comes back this year, that's all the proof I'll ever need

Yeah. I agree. On walterfootball.com, the guy that runs the site has ripped them every pick for not taking an offensive tackle which I find ridiculous. Some people don't seem to realize the best teams don't really draft by need all that much. If you're going to be an elite team in the NFL, you really got to draft by BPA far more often then by need.

Trey Wingo seems like a real prick. In other news, the Hawks give up a lot to move into the 3rd and grab WR Deon Butler out of Penn State:

"The Seahawks gave up their fifth-round pick (137th overall), seventh-round pick (213th overall) and a third-round pick in 2010 in order to move up and take Butler."

Any Penn State fans here? Thoughts on Butler? I remember watching him at the combine where he ran a 4.32-40 and seemed to have great hands although he is tiny. Hopefully he can return kicks/punts and work the slot. That was perhaps too much to pay to get into the 3rd but overall I like the pick. I believe that they will receive a 3rd rounder next year if Leroy Hill signs with another squad, so....

Wingo seems like his almost giddy to be in the host's seat the draft and he is trying way too hard to be charming/clever.
