You know...sometimes I wonder if this is what my life would be like if I were single. I go through spells where Madden/NCAA/OOTP entertain me, but those typically fade out within a month. Once those are gone, I'm just bored for no good reason. Sure there's porn, or Star Wars films, or porn...but all of the pointless busywork that comes along with being married I think keeps me from having this feeling more often.

Then again, being single could be the Bee's knees, and I may be bored far less often thanks to a likelihood of the following:

single > more alcohol consumption > less boredom

Then again, my liver probably appreciates me drinking less. Plus I'll live longer...so there's that.

I OD'd on Criminal Minds a few months ago and even watched the Forrest Whitaker spin off on Netflix. Binge watching procedural shows puts you in a dark place.

Well, I'm single. But this is coming from my time off work. I hope the doc clears me to go back when I see him next.

Ah...being single and home 24/7 would be dangerous for me. I would constantly be around the temptation of alcohol and *puff* stuff. I would never get anything done. It's a good thing I was straight-edge until after college.

Speaking of Forrest Whitaker, I recently watched The Crying Game and was blown away by his performance in a relatively small role. I've also seen The Last King of Scotland, Phenomenon, and few of his other strong roles...but I was almost taken aback by how quickly I grew to like his character in this one.

Almost.

There's like, 8 billion things in the world to do. Maybe more. I think it's possible being married makes it seem like there's a lot fewer things to do than that, because a lot of them are just kind of out your stream of consciousness because you're married. I'm not JUST saying activities like "banging Japanese hookers", but really anything requires the knowledge/participation of your spouse. There's always a little bit more inertia there.

Or I just made all that up, whatever.

UGH!

Frustration thy name is: Spending $30,000 and 9 months pursuing a client (travel to meet them + lawyer's fees on contract drafts) only to find out that a deal with them won't happen soon, and possibly not at all, because they neglected to get buy-in on our fees (and god knows what else) from their parent company.

I could fucking put my fist through a fucking wall right now!!!

Did anyone see that story about the 3 year old who got mauled by the African Painted Dogs? Really sad story from the Pittsburgh Zoo.

After many years of being uncertain, I finally found an attribution for one of my favorite quotes.

I recalled the line from an otherwise forgotten book but knew it was simply being referenced there, not originating there. After occasionally searching for a key phrase throughout the internet era, I never found anything really useful that pinned it down ... until today. It's a second-hand reference but it cites the origin better than anything I've seen before.

The line itself doesn't really matter, I'm just tickled to have something to hang my hat on the next time I want to use the line.

heh. I know I have like the last 3 seasons or so that I can watch at any time, as I was once in a dark place with that show as well. From whenever they blew up Kim Coates til the end of the series.

So. This NCIS binge started because USA keeps showing episodes, and with me being laid up and taking pain medication...plus with the shows being shown out of order...

So I thought I'd try to pick up on what happened after the end of Season 5. But then they made a reference to something that happened in Season 2. Then I saw a season 3 episode that referenced something from Season 1. So....

Yeah, I've been buying each season on NCIS starting with season 1 on Amazon Video. I'm just now into season 5. Do they ever resolve the story line about why Jenny found the prints from her (dead) father on a glass on her desk?

Does it make me a terrible person to find Tourette's karaoke incredibly entertaining?

(If it makes it better, he acknowledges how funny it sounds, but music is a way to control his tics-- and he has a decent singing voice)

I think this is probably a pretty darned random thought but ...

In the last 24 hours my FB wall has included two friends who had their vehicles broken into & valuables stolen. Seems like a good time for a reminder that it "tis the season" so don't leave anything of value in sight in your vehicle. It may not prevent you from being victimized but it will surely reduce the chances.

Been on a grunge kick lately, listening to the B-tier bands - i.e. anyone not named Nirvana or Pearl Jam. So. The Screaming Trees. Pretty good shit exists in their catalogue. Yup.

Are you asking me to come over and get you drunk?

A few things I learned during the storm. People are dumb. 90% of the population is insanely dumb. People who don't know that 0 is an even number or are confused by being told to be south of I-95 because I-95 runs east to west. I guess I do like cheese steaks better than pizza. In a pinch, an old copy of Penthouse will still do. Going #2 in the dark when it's 26 degrees in the house is brutal on the health of your butt. Radio is shitty, but it was still oddly pleasant to fall asleep to the sound of it, like I did back before computers.

Planned out my schedule for spring semester and found out one of my classes is only taught at 12-2. There's no other class I can sub in since I need a Calc. prereq, and I'm taking that at the same time.
