Everybody has probably seen the main page of Google by now, but the Bob Ross picture is awesome.

In his honor, all day in Excel, I've alternated between raw umber and burnt sienna as my font color.

Another sign of the pending apocolypse.

You can bet on the over/under for the opening US weekend box office in millions of dollars - Fri, Sat, & Sun. Here are some numbers for movies coming out in November.

Lincoln (Spielberg, Daniel Day Lewis) 18 million

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (Stewart, Pattinson, sparkles)

156 million

Different crowds so different expectations.

You going to lose anything watching Lincoln in the privacy of your own home when it comes out on Redbox? Now what if you were a 13 year old girl: aren't you legally required to go watch Twilight movies in the theater?

Doesn't surprise me. Just because the Nazis stole the swastika from the Hindu religion doesn't mean it goes away. Plus there are still too many idiot Neo-Nazis in this world.

My experience has been the people most obsessed with Twilight are not teenage girls, but middle aged girls (these people are not women), who talk about it 24/7.

IMDB? Don't they list "memorable quotes"?

Oh, I know the quote. It's just that hearing it in my head all night/morning/day makes me want to go watch Fight Club.

There's a halloween potluck at work tomorrow, and a contest for best homemade dish -- $30 gift card on the line! I'm trying to decide between making pumpkin banana pie, or pumpkin apple pie. What say you, FOFC?

Pumpkin banana. The texture clash of pumpkin apple is giving me a headache just thinking about it.

Holy guacamole, Batman! I just looked at the insurance bills from my surgery last month (not the one I had last week to repair the open wound) and associated hospital stay. Wow. I'm not sure it covers anesthesia yet, but...wow.

The cost to me will be just the deductible, but man am I glad I have insurance. More so because there were 2 surgeon fees. Actually, it looks like I'll also have to pay for the labs at the hospital. For some reason, those aren't covered.

Now I'm really wondering how much the second surgery will cost...

I know I said it before, but it hasn't gotten any better. Sleeping after low back surgery sucks. So does sitting. But sneezing is almost as bad as sleeping and is better than sitting.

If I install Google Authenticator on my phone, and use it to being setup of the 2-step authentication, and it asks me to go to the web site to do the initial setup for my Google account, why does the web site INSIST on sending me a text message (that will cost me money) with a link to an app that I just finished installing?

Actually, that's happened 3 times since the surgery (or at least dry heaves). First was when I was waking up from the anesthesia, I was super sick (guess they didn't listen to me and give me EVERYTHING they could for nausea). Second time was a couple weeks ago when I tried to swallow a pill and somehow missed. That was 30 minutes of hell. Third time was last week when I had my second procedure and was waking up from the anesthesia again. The anesthesia team was great both times except for not listening to me when I said I get super-sick from it.

Because it is out of band. For someone to be able to hack it, they would have to hijack both your browser session and be able to see text messages going to your phone.

The fun part is it's not working, and never sending me the text message. Sigh.

Well, I was all set to make pumpkin banana, but the kids got fussy, and I decided not to take away from sleep time. Steve, I hear ya, but I figured someone else might make a pumpkin pie, and if I wanted to win a contest, I had to do something a little more creative.

There is really nothing fun about fun-size candy bars. Meh size would be a more appropriate name.

I've always thought of an IKEA store as a sort of year-around haunted house, with the way the floorplan is laid out and all of the different rooms. Well, I had to go to one last night, and my worst fears were realized. All of the staff was dressed in costumes, and there were people actually trick-or-treating inside the store. It was surreal.

I've gotten about 25 calls from 630-539-2500 over the last week or so, and 5 this morning and it's not even 8:15 yet. I don't usually get too annoyed by telemarketers, I just don't pick up the phone, but these guys are relentless. I finally picked up and told them to stop calling, but they keep coming. Now I'm kid of amused. The last time I chatted for a few seconds, before getting annoyed and telling them to fuck off again. I feel like I can do better than that though. How can I make this fun for me?

So in a 10 day period I'm seeing my primary care doctor, eye doctor twice (not for regular checkups), and urologist. The urologist is obviously the worst of the bunch since everyone else there seems to be 60+. Getting older blows!

Shaw's laid off another 700 employees. Glad I got out of there two years after losing my management position. I feel bad for those that lost their jobs, but it makes me so happy that I went back to school.

was just talking about Shaws at lunch today with my wife and a friend (all of us are ex-employees). the one here in town has gone downhill terribly and I've wondered why it's even still open - the place is a frigging ghostown...and rightfully so.

I echo your sentiment about the folks losing their jobs. lousy news.

Holy crap...

I started this semester on my Bachelor's degree. Only taking one class right now (Intro to Urban Sciences) & don't know how I'll afford to take even one next semester (but that's another story.)

I have taken 2 of 3 exams so far. Both exams were a bitch. They could have been much worse, but neither time did I at all feel like I did a good job studying. He grades on a curve, or I would have fared much worse.

My grade on Exam I was an A+. I couldn't believe that I got the highest score in the class, two points higher than the next score.

I just got the grade on Exam II. A+. The highest score. Three points higher than the next score (the same person as before.)

Now I'm feeling the pressure. I need to kill Exam III. Anything less than the top score and an A+ will be an utter failure.
